Harry is a Boy's Name by Alexannah

Summary: Lily and James were in hiding when Harry was born, and as such had little or no visitors. Word spread that they had a baby called Harry, and the automatic assumption was that Harry was a boy.

The Boy Who Lived is left for the Dursleys, with a letter telling them the baby is their nephew ... but when Petunia first changes 'his' nappy, she discovers a niece instead. Harry is actually a Harriet.

Petunia being Petunia, she decides she doesn't care, it was the wizards' mistake, and raises Harry a boy anyway. Since Harry closely resembles her father, especially in glasses, all that is needed is to keep her hair cut short and dress her in Dudley's old clothes.

Harry does not figure out the truth until after she has started Hogwarts, and after the initial shock, decides she doesn't want anyone to know ...

Summary: In third year Harry's permission slip is signed by either Petunia or Vernon but the staff at Hogwarts think it's too dangerous for Harry to go. The staff have a plan to keep Harry out of Hogsmeade by saying that to be able to go third years and above must behave and have good grades. Harry does this yet Professor McGonagall tells him that he can't go because of Sirius Black. The whole school, including the snakes, stand by him. Wormtail must he caught.

I didn't want to limit you, so I didn't give you the whole idea I had, which was as follows:
Draco (or any other student you choose) is abused by his parents, the abuse becomes public and Severus takes him out of the situation. He decides to take Draco at least for the time being. Harry is jealous of Draco getting to leave his abusive family in contrast to himself and lashes out at the other boy.
He is not jealous particularly at being in Snapes care but generally at being rescued. But as time progresses and he sees how kind Snape is to Draco, he gets more and more jealous of Draco's particular situation.
