Summary: Can take place any time after 1st year, and must cover multiple years. Harry gets a beating from his uncle before leaving for school, and when he can do so, he retreats to an abandoned classroom to tend to his injuries. He is discovered by a Slytherin in his year (not Draco) hoping to do the same. They become friends. Snape finds out about the relationship, although it takes quite awhile for him to discover the reason for it, and is initially against his snake's friendship with Harry. He gets over it eventually, and takes them both in after discovering the abuse.

Summary: Dumbledore's information is wrong. He leaves Harry at 4 Privet Drive, but it's not the Dursleys that live there. McGonagall either wasn't watching, or didn't know it wasn't the Dusleys she was observing. The current residents contact the previous residents (the Dursleys), who either say they don't want Harry or deny any knowledge of his existence. They decide to raise him themselves. The new residents of Privet Drive can be canon or crossover characters, but not OCs.

Summary: What if during his 4th or 5th year Harry feels his friends are turning against him? Harry gets angry and calls Hermione a mudblood in potions class. Harry then tries to apologize to Hermione. Severus sees all of this. He has a talk with Harry later. Characters must make changes for the better later on. No slash allowed. Optional: Harry and Hermione pairing.

Summary: Aunt Petunia is actually a witch.Nobody knew she could do magic, not even herself. She never showed magical signs as a child. During Harry's 4th year her magic is discovered. Dumbledore allows her to attend Hogwarts as a student. Uncle Vernon and Dudley die in a car crash. How will Petunia react to having her childhood enemy as a teacher? Harry will learn of his potions teacher's friendship a lot earlier. Rules: Petunia is not in Slytherin. Severus and Petunia must eventually change for the better.

Manipulative Dumbledore by greencat

Summary: Dumbledore is behind the wizarding war. Harry may be the one to stop Voldemort, but Severus is the one to stop Dumbledore. Dumbledore and Voldemort are not friends. Dumbledore allowed Voldemort to come to power so Voldemort would kill off those who would stand up against him when he tries to take power. No R rated material allowed.

Summary: This is out of curiosity on my part more than anything else...Write a fic (length doesn't matter) that, in some way/shape/form, incorporates the song 'Makin Whoopee' by Ella Fitzgerald. You can incorporate it thematically, have it sung by a character, use it to set a mood...whatever floats your boat. Overall narrative should be determined by the author. Be creative!

Summary: A young Harry is sent the letter from Hogwarts, with a mysterious guardian paying his tuition. His living circumstances remain largely unchanged as Harry continues to live with the Dursleys. Once at Hogwarts Harry meets the staff, among them is Severus Snape, the Potions Master, and the Defense Against Dark Arts professor, James Potter.

Challenge Rules
  • Harry's last name remains Evans.
  • Lily is still very dead
  • The relationship between James Potter and Lily Evans should be left up to the writer.
  • Snape is Harry's Head of House. This does not have to be Slytherin or Gryffindor. A good sorting is always fun.
  • Harry knows next to nothing about the history between his mentor, his father, and his dead mother.
  • How the overall interactions of a living James Potter and a Harry Evans contributes to Harry's apprenticeship is up to the writer.
  • James Potter may or may not have known about Harry's existence.
  • Extra Credit if Grindelwald can be worked into the story without removing Voldemort as the arch-evil.
  • Characterizations fascinate me. If the author is up to the challenge, I'd like to see these circumstances made to work with the canon personalities.
  • Please, no bashing of any characters.

Summary: In year 5 or 6, Harry finds out his mum and dad were not Lily and James Potter. In fact, he discovers he has two dads and his “mum” is none other than Severus Snape! How Harry’s finds out is up to you, it could be through Creature Inheritance, Medical Need/Accident, Potion Accident/Assignment etc.

Rules of the challenge:
  • Obviously this will be MPREG (male pregnancy)
  • Severus Snape must be Harry’s “Mum”
  • Harry can be the product of a loving relationship or of Non-Con (rape)
  • Harry’s other dad, can be either Lucius Malfoy, Tom Riddle Jr. /Lord Voldemort, or Regulus Black
  • Harry must have been taken/kidnapped from Snape; Snape loved and wanted Harry (even if he was conceived in rape)
  • Harry suffered abuse at the Dursleys and Severus (and other Father if involved in plot) helps his son to heal.

OR
SEVERUS is the mentally challenged one and HARRY is the one that takes care of Severus.
OR
A mentally challenged toddler Harry and a new adopted dad Severus.

Malnutrition by JAWorley

Summary: The Dursley's withheld food practically all summer for Harry, feeding him very little only once every three days. Now Harry's coming back for his fifth, sixth, or seventh year and he's extremely weak. He can barely climb the stairs to get into the castle. He collapses and who should find him? Snape and McGonagall. For some reason they can't take him to the Hospital Wing to be treated.

Bonus if: Snape thinks Harry has passed out because he was drunk, and or Draco takes advantage of Harry's weakness and pushes him down the front steps he has just worked so hard to climb. Bonus if Harry's friends aren't talking to him for some reason, which is the reason he's alone in the first place that night while everyone else is at the feast.

The rest is up to you! Can be a one-shot, but should be a long one-shot (nothing less than five pages... I hate those two paragraph one-shots). Bonus if you make it a multi-chapter story with good plot and character development.
