Summary: Severus is forced to cut his hair very short. The reason may be up to you, but magic can not grow his hair back for whatever reason. However, his shorn locks turn out to be a good thing because his hair does not look greasy with this new cut. This may give Severus a new outlook on life or perhaps people are looking at him differently. Of course, Harry should figure prominently in the story.
[Report This] Summary: Sirius is seriously affected by Azkaban and never really grew up. In fact, it amplified his immature and cruel personality. Somehow he is still given custody of Harry after he escapes (and is cleared, or he could get released, potentially early). Harry is forced to care for them both as Sirius is cares nothing for the boy's clothing, food and shelter, only the monthly stipend he receives for him. Sirius does what pleases himself and becomes wrapped up in all sorts of criminal activities that creates a very undesirable home environment for Harry.
Will Snape notice that something is wrong? Is Harry on his way to become a juvenile delinquent without a proper caring and guiding adult? This is not meant to be a nice story and I don't see Sirius greatly improving his behavior.
[Report This] Summary: Girl!Harry story, containing a scene in which a very protective Severus is meeting her (potential) boyfriend. Could be father, godfather or stepfather fic, or he could be just a really protective teacher. Bonus points for creative "If you hurt her ..." threats.
[Report This] Summary: Petunia never got over her wish to be a witch. When the first Hogwarts letter arrives for Harry, Petunia knows what it is. She devises a plan to send Dudley instead of Harry as the boy who lived. She colors his hair and puts him on a diet (a little!) and presents him to Hagrid when he arrives to take the boy shopping. Finally she has her chance to bask in the fame she believes she deserves. What will happen when Dudley arrives at Hogwarts? Will anyone suspect that something is wrong? And just what will the Dursleys do (nothing too extreme please) with the real Harry?
[Report This] Summary: The Dursleys never abused Harry. Instead, they treated him exactly like Dudley, and as a result, Harry is exactly what Snape always thought he was. Spoiled, a bully, and thinks himself high above others. When he comes to Hogwarts, acting exactly, if not more, like a James Potter reincarnated, how does Snape and everyone react?
[Report This] Summary: It is Neville parents that are murdered by Voldemort while Harry's rot away at St. Mungo's. Neville is deemed to be the boy who lived and Harry is all but forgotten. Will anyone know the small,shy boy when he comes to Hogwarts? And why does he have a strange scar on his forehead? What really happened that October night, and did Voldemort know the prophesy and somehow try to alter the future? Which house will Harry end up in now that he is not famous? Will Snape loathe him the same when he's not the boy who lived?
[Report This] Summary: Malfoy, Nott, and Zabini (Grabbe and Goyle could be part too) form a band of Slytherin Marauders when they enter Hogwarts . Their main purpose is to taunt Harry, which they do in a similar way to how the original marauders taunted Snape. Will the potions master intervene when he witnesses their cruel spells (perhaps Malfoy Sr has taught Draco some spells) and words, maybe even the upside down underpants incident? Will he realize that Harry has not had a great upbringing?
[Report This] Summary: It is Snape and not Lupin that holds on to Harry after Sirius crosses the veil. How will this affect their relationship? Will Snape let him go so he can chase Bellatrix? What will it do to Snape's role as a spy?

[Report This] Summary: After his first year Harry's relatives want nothing to do with him and they do actually send him to St. Brutus. It a rough place and Harry returns to Hogwarts worse for wear. Even Snape takes notice. The Weasleys could still come rescue him or he could go straight to Hogwarts from St. Brutus.
