Summary: Harry doesn't want to celebrate Halloween, since his mom was murdered then (which he still remembers) -- so he hides away in the Library. Who should find him but our Potions Professor?
Must Contain: some angst from both Severus and Harry, Severus saving Harry from the Troll, and/or Harry (or Severus) calling Dumbledore out on Celebrating Voldemort's defeat when he also killed Harry's mom.
Can be a one-shot or multi-chaptered fic.

Snape has a female Muggle cousin of about the same age he is. They were once quite close but in his teens they started to grow apart and Severus is now trying to repair some of the damage. The cousin is unable to have children, so she decides to adopt a 7-10 years old boy from an orphanage. What a surprise it will be for Severus when he discovers that his new "nephew" is in fact the Boy-Who-lived Harry Potter! It is up to you to decide whether the cousin has a husband or a boyfriend, and whether Harry has a past as an abused child (he was put with the Dursleys at first). [Report This] Summary:
During Sirius’s rescue in PoA, something goes wrong. Sirius still escapes but several days later Aurors come to arrest Hermione Granger and Harry Potter for aiding the fugitive, while Dumbledore is suspected too. The catch – somebody has seen them. Now Harry and Hermione are expecting a trial while most of the world has turned against them. They are forbidden all contact with Dumbledore and several others; the lawyer appointed to them by the Ministry is uninterested and their only chance is in the one visitor they are allowed to choose from a special list. After a lot of arguing, they choose Snape (one of the three Hogwarts teachers there). Will Snape be able to find the person who tipped of the Ministry? Will he be able to overcome his hate for Sirius, prove his innocence and save the Gryffindoors before it is too late? Bonus points:1) Umbridge + Skeeter in any forms 2) Sirius X Severus confrontations, with eventual peacemaking 3) The reactions of their classmates and the wizarding world (who hate Sirius as the Death-Eater he supposedly is) 4) Harry +Hermione learns about Snape being a Death Eater after choosing him 5) The abusive-Dursleys situation is somehow presented at the court 6) Dementors and emotional distress :) [Report This] Summary: Harry isn't so certain Snape is "Dumbledore's man" so he does some research -- accidently slipping up to Aunt Petunia, who tells him who's man he really is... set before HBP/DH but after PS.

There are so few GOOD vampire fics, and even less Severitus-centered ones. [Report This] Summary: This challenge is to write a drama or horror story. Severus Snape learns that he is Harry's father. Snape is also Draco's Godfather and he believes that his Godson is a good boy. When Harry is added to the dynamic and spends time with Draco, he soon realizes that Draco is bad, perhaps evil. He tries to make Snape believe him, but Snape won't. Draco gets Harry in trouble, further tarnishing Harry's reputation. Will Snape learn the truth before it´s too late?
[Report This] Summary: Quirrel attacks Harry in the Forbidden Forest, nearly killing him before Draco can defend them and take him back to Hogwarts. How will he heal from his injuries -- emotional and physical? Or can he even do that without help from his most hated Professor (Snape)?
[Report This] Summary: Canonically, Harry was an abused child. Rowling didn't go into it much because she would then have to actually deal with the issue rather than pushing it aside, but the fact remains--the Dursleys neglected and abused Harry. The question is--why in hell did nobody notice?
It's understandable, really, that Dumbledore either marginalized or ignored the abuse. The same with Mrs. Figg. It's an age thing. Child abuse wasn't recognized as a problem before the late seventies, which means to Dumbledore's Victorian mindset, it's "just discipline" and doesn't count. Mrs. Figg would have considered it none of her business. Again, it's the age in which she grew up. Mrs. Figg would have considered it a, "family issue" and thus, "private business". What is unforgivable is that none of his teachers seemed to notice his problems and none of the neighbors reported it, either. It would have been absolutely obvious to teachers just in comparison between Dudley and Harry! Just their wardrobes should have rung warning bells. By the 1980s, mandatory reporting laws were on the books, (at least in the US--I know they exist, but not the exact timeline for the UK laws. I'm doing a bit of assumption here) and Harry should have been taken away from the Dursleys. Considering that Dumbledore never checked up on him, except via Mrs. Figg, in the real world, just from the contrast between Dudley and Harry, Harry would have ended up in foster care. This is made even more true by the educational push there was about the issue during the era. So, my challenge is for a story in which someone, be it a teacher, a neighbor, etc, notice Harry's plight and do something about it. This can be before or after Hogwarts, but my only stipulation is that it can't be anyone from the Wizarding World. It's also your choice how Severus finds out and gets involved--except it can't be at Dumbledore's behest. It can go for pretty much any category for the relationship between Severus and Harry, but I'd like Severus to remember that above all, he was Lily's best friend since childhood. [Report This] Summary: Remember Marjorie's bulldog, Ripper, who chased Harry up a tree once? What if the dog had caught Harry? Now imagine how Harry might look when he comes to Hogwarts. How might Snape respond?
