When James died, he gave bloodwards to their house to save them, his love, that is, a few years later when Harry is older Lily marries Severus Snape, her best friend. When Lily goes missing for a few months on a mission for the Order(she isn't dead) Severus must get over his hatred of James and the past and look at Harry for who he is.
