Reviews For Muggleville
You do have a point about him preferring other trousers, though. Jeans would feel even more uncomfortable to someone used to robes.
Author's Response: Yes, it is an interesting situation for Harry to be in. I plan to have the potion revert him to his 16 year old consciousness at some point. We shall see. :)
Author's Response: Wow, how unusual! I had no idea. :) Cool!
Lol about the tea issue. I guess they'll have to get used to ice tea, which I've heard my Brit friends say is absolutely horrible. -P.G. Author's Response: Maybe they did notice but don't care. I didn't really think of it, but that's a good point. :) Thanks for your reviews! You always give me something to think about. :)
Harry's excitement was so sweet. A first plane trip is pretty exciting, especially for a child. Hope the airline doesn't lose the tea set box. Author's Response: Awww, thanks for all of your comments! Unfortunately, the tea set was lost. I hope that there will be many more cute things to come! Thanks for your review!
I love this! I love all the small things put in this story that are just so true. *L* My first time on an airplane, I was 18 and I still did the exact same thing... and my flight was for about the same amount of time too. From Chicago to Austria. Author's Response: Yup, I did the same thing as well. Thanks for your comments!
Author's Response: Thank you! :D
Author's Response: Thanks, I'll fix that! Okay, fixed! Thanks for reading and reviewing!
I'd say you captured Snape just perfectly! So far Hoppity seems like a wonderful person to go through a second childhood with! With her along, Harry has somebody who shares his excitement and enthusiasm for this wonderful adventure! Tracy Author's Response: Whooo! Thanks Tracy! Yup, I thought the contrasting personalities would be good, and entertaining. Harry won't be left alone to turn into some sourpuss kid with Hoppity around.
A few little corrections. They would not say a flight to the US. They would specify the city, like welcome to flight ## to Detroit, or Boston, or Washington DC, not the US. Next, at the time this story takes place (remember the books are in the past!) the planes did not yet have personal monitors on the back of seats. There would be one main screen in each section with a few smaller screens above certain seats so Harry wouldn't be able to choose what he was watching, there would be one movie. Also, planes ALWAYS ask passengers to put their belts on OVER the blankets so that when people fall asleep and there's turbulence, they can see if someone is wearing their belt and they don't have to wake them to check. And you forgot the safety talk that is done on EVERY flight. About the nearest escape route, how to use the belt, what to do in case of an emergency, how the breathing masks and floatation devices work, not to smoke, ... Author's Response: As to the first part- I know that and I didn't mention it specifically on purpose. This is an imaginary town in the US, and I didn't want to have to research and add in another dimension to the cultural differences because although I know what different parts of the US are like (having lived in different regions) I wanted to focus on the general differences between the two countries and not get bogged down on details. This is supposed to be fun, for both me and the readers. As for the time the story took place, even though the Harry Potter world is supposed to be in 1995, there are a lot of differences in the fandom perceptions of when it can take place- a lot of people write the books as taking place in 2005. In any case, I remember little monitors being in planes around 2000, so I figured that if Harry's a 5th year, this story takes place around 2000. If I was a year or two early, I didn't think that it would matter that much that anyone would bother noticing. When I was a kid, and I had a blanket, the flight attendants didn't ask me to place it under the blanket, from what I can remember. Maybe since the flight attendant was the one doing it, she should have made sure that it was, or maybe since she was the one responsible for that area she knew that Harry had his safety belt on so it was okay. I don't know. I might change it, but I might not. I think the safety flight talk WAS in the chapter. I wouldn't have left that out unless you're talking about the second flight or something, and I didn't want to repeat the whole thing in real time because that would have been boring, so I alluded to it. |
