Reviews For Savior
"He wanted to soothe Harry, wanted to feed him and reassure him and mollycoddle him and he didn’t dare approach him for fear of worsening the situation." This is something I'd quite like to see, though - once more - the speed at which you're developing this is absolutely perfect. I am quite surprised at Draco's actions - and his history! I do love the addition of it, but will admit it's not something I saw coming!!
I love this story very much. However, I'm having some trouble with this new situation with Draco. Why would Lucius have him forget his punishments? I imagine he punished him because he displeased him in some way. He would want him to remember what he did wrong and that he was punished so that he would not make the same mistake again. Most of all, I do not want Draco's situation to distract from Harry's. I want all Severus's attention on him. I just can't help it. I love the relationship they're slowly beginning to have. But as I said -- I love this fic. Please contine... and soon. Author's Response: Well, I think of Lucius as being very narcissistic, and I don't think he wanted anything to make his son and wife stop loving him. Also it's a way of keeping Draco from ever telling anybody, you know? I don't see Draco as distracting Severus from Harry - in fact I think he'll help Severus with understanding and empathizing with Harry and also he'll be there for Harry too.
Author's Response: Thanks, I hope you enjoy it.
Author's Response: Sorry ... Draco just wouldn't be written out of the story, and I really did feel that Harry needed more help than Snape could give.
Author's Response: Even in canon I hate Vernon Dursley ... but you're quite right, I think that in this case the Dursleys are much more insidious than they are in canon. Poor Harry, it'll be hard for him to fully shake off some of the lies they've told him.
Don't be insecure about your choices. It's a terrific story so far! It is clearly labeled AU, so one should expect a few strong deviations from canon. In this one, Harry's character is a bit different. Not out of character ... different because of circumstances in your altered universe. As another reader suggested, it's easy to just assume the abuse by the Dursleys was just that touch more severe to make Harry have more serious emotional issues. (Really, when you think about it, it's probably a bit unrealistic that canon Harry is as well-adjusted as he is.) Severus and Draco are reacting to the different Harry so they are not necessarily OOC. Just putting him in Slytherin alone (which again makes sense as this Harry would have never tried to argue with the sorting hat) makes them sit back and consider Harry as one of them. It's not really out of line to make the jump that Draco had been abused too. The few canon interactions between Draco and Lucius have not exactly shown a warm, loving father-son relationship. Perhaps watching Harry's behavior subconsciously effected Draco even while obliviated and his writing home about it gave Narcissa the impetus to reveal the truth to him. What we do know about canon Draco is he initially wanted to be friends with Harry and, as evidenced by his failure in his task in HBP, he is not really as ruthless as his father. So I have no problem with Draco's character in your story either because you explain it well via his obliviated memories. And I absolutely love your Snape! I love how he has to keep telling himself that it's all about revenge. Hee! Yeah, keep telling yourself that Snapey! ;) I'm very much looking forward to your next chapter! Author's Response: Thanks, I really appreciate your feedback and support.
Author's Response: Thanks ... I'm sorry about the delay in posting. I do mean to start updating more frequently during the summer ... crossing my fingers to hope it actually happens!
Author's Response: Yes, I think that Hermione's going to make an entrance sooner or later, although I'm not sure about Ron.
Author's Response: I think that Severus will definitely keep Harry away from the Dursleys if at all possible. Thanks for reviewing! |
