That was so heart wrenching! I love James Potter. And well this was awesome because I have a thing for seeing my fictional loves in a sad position.

Author's Response: I love nothing better than to see the fictional people I love in horrible positions. I am a sick puppy.

This is sad that Severus had to find out Harry wasn't his, but I liked how James and Severus had an understanding in the end.

Author's Response: Ah, but Harry is his now. It's sort of like an adoption that nobody knew too place.

Ah ha, it is a series! Thanks for telling me, I just swept right past the author note. Nice work!

Author's Response: Glad you like!  There will be more in the series too, witha total of 6 stories.  (You know Spectacles was more than just the drabble, right?)

Oh my god this is so sad! Poor Severus :(

Author's Response: Thank you!  I'm in the process of writing several secrets to this.

Oooh spooktacularly dark! One of the best compliments I've been paid was that my story was like a car crash- the threads leading slowly but inevitably up to the disaster- and I can happily say that that compliment applies to this story; upon rereading, you can clearly trace the route from past to present.

Brilliantly written and believable; all the characters were in character (but suitably evolved) and their motivations felt believable

Author's Response: Thank you!  I'm actually in the process of writitng several sequels.  It's on of my personal favorite AUs.

Daaaaang. Now, that is good! It was a little confusing at first, till I figured out that James was the secretary. But after that, wow!

This was one of those eye-opening stories. Truly awesome. Don't know what else to say really. Such a twisted and complicated plot and such a short story, I love it! What a different world it might've been.

And I loved how you ended it. That was so perfect. Great job!!!

    Author's Response:

Thanks!  It's meant to be a little confusing at the beginning, with the reader going, what, what, okay, Oh!  I was trying to sow Harry's absolute nonchalance about this world, and haw it was completely normal for him, and things that throw us completely for a loop don't even cross his radar, so he (and I) wasn't explaining anything.

This was one of those stories that grabs you by the throat and demands to be written nownownow, *throttle*.  I'm still eking out fics in this universe.

    Wow.

I really enjoy stories with James and Severus as main characters, but I rarely see them together except for in Marauders-Era fic.

Also. Disturbing, and great little subtle end. Here's to hoping Harry manages to defeat the evil git, anyway.

    -K

    Author's Response:

So do I!  I love throwing characters who really really really don't get along together and watching them fight it out.  Snape and James and Snape and Sirius are my favorite pairs to throw together.  I actually am writing a Marauder era fic about Snape,  (and the Marauders, and Lily, and Lily's friends, and Snape's Slytherin year-mates...) and it's lots of fun playing with the simmering tension of the time.

The three of them are now living in a conspiricy.  I ope you stay with the series until I can show you how Harry does.

What a scary version of the future, in true AU fashion. It's so strange how normal this world seems... it just shows that life goes on in spite of bad circumstances, and people get used to how things are.

Author's Response: Thank you, I'm glad you like it!  I wanted to give hints of the world around a primarily family based story.  The rest of the stories I'm writing in this universe (except "Spectacles", which is background) are about what happens in the family dynamic when this rather twisted world's equalibrium is disturbed.

Very original plot! I never read something like that before, but maybe it's because it's the first story I read on potionandsnitches...
Thank you for posting it and congratulation on your award

Author's Response: Thank you, I'm glad to be your first!  I can actually think of only one other dystopian story here on P&S, and it isn't anything like mine at all, and most of the dystopian fics I find off P&S seem to be porn.  Go figure.

I really liked your story. You gave me hints of this great dystopia occurring around them, but it wasn't so extreme that I couldn't imagine it happening. I think that was the strong point that society does continue to function even when the opposition wins.

Great reversal of the Snape's your dad theme.

Author's Response: Thank you!  I wanted to keep the story pretty heavily grounded in the family dynamic despite the sheer misery going on just outside.  Part of the reason I was able to give just hints of the dystopia is that all three characters are somewhat isolated from the worst of it.  Snape is high up, and therefore can protect himself and his son, and James might be a slave, but he isn't Bellatrix's slave or Avery, or someone really particularly nasty.  When I chose the challenge on which this was based, I had no intention of writing Voldemort winning or dystopia, or anything like that, but th more I thought about it, the more sense it made to write it this way.
