Yay for new clothes!! And Hagrid always makes me smile! ^-^ And Severus is still being coldly nice. At least he's not being too mean, right?

And yay for friends! Ron and Hermione are just so funny when they argue. I really like that, for some odd reason. But, oh no! Now Harry DOES know something is up and he's gunna go off and try something!

Very good Pandora! I'll try to read later today! Have a cookie! XD

    Author's Response:

You must know that I have an incredible sweet tooth.  Thank for the cookie!

Yeah, Harry reallly did need new clothes, didn't he?  I love Hagrid too. He's like a big kid. Severus is certainly not  wearing his heart on his sleeve, is he?  Yeah, at least he's not being mean.

Oh, I love when Hermione and Ron bicker too. It shows how attracted they are to each other, even at that age.

Thanks Ivy. I want more chappies from you too. OOh, what kind of cookie?

This is a good read. I'm glad i found it. I think the pacing is done well, though sometimes I want to get to the part where they like each other, it's just not realistic, is it?

    Author's Response:

Thanks. Don't worry, they won't hate each other forever, and they really are starting to soften up to each other. Snape is a hard nut to crack. It'll get there....I promise. I can't have them falling into each other's arms too fast though, it just wouldn't be Snape-like!! LOL! I hope that you'll keep reading though, there IS a light at the end of the tunnel.

Really enjoying this. I like that Harry has someone to be strict with him, but in a positive, not mean, way, and you also seem to be capturing the feel of the original books while weaving your storyline in perfectly.

Author's Response: Oh thank you. snape will get less mean as time goes on, but I think that he's doing a pretty good job of it, he's still strict, but not quite as cruel as he can be at times. I'm trying hard to combine Canon and my own version together. I'm glad that you think I've accomplished that.

Me Again...I am not one hundred percent sure when they changed to metric in England, but it was a lot more recently than us! I think perhaps the late eighties or nineties. I am sure though that even if they were officially metric in the mid nineties, many people, especially people who were already adults when the change happened, would still refer to things like weight in the old 'language'. Personally, I still like to know what a baby weighs in pounds and ounces (there are 16 ounces in a pound)rather than kilograms and grams. So I always convert to lbs and oz. There are 100 grams in a kilogram and there are 500gms in a pound (approx). Lots of elderly people here still like to know their own weight in stones and pounds.

So, to answer the question...Severus, I am sure, would have talked about gaining a couple of pounds rather than a kilo.

    Hope this helps.

    Lesley~

    Author's Response:

Thanks. You are a big help. I will go change it, if I can remember where I wrote that reference. Tried to look yesterday, and I guess that I was too tired from work and couldn't find it to change it from stones to pounds.

How's the progress on the next chappie of SD over at FFnet?  Can't wait to read it!

*Imagines Harry writing the lines about whining* Hilarious! You manage to add just enough humor throughout this story that it makes me grin like an idiot! Hmm, his appearance is shifting...Interesting, interesting...especially with Snape somewhat wishing that Harry was his son...And Hermione noticed. Something's up...Laughed at Snape saying in no uncertain terms what to do with Potter's money! Oh, he let it slip out to Ron and Hermione. Poor Harry! Ooh, very nice how Harry learns about Sirius a little here rather than in Hogsmeade. Nice twist of events there. I'm very much enjoying this story!

    Author's Response:

Thank you so much for your lovely reviews, and I promise when I'm not so zonked from working all day, I'll leaving longer ones for you.

Oh thanks. I always like to try to insert a little humour, so that (hopefully) my story is not too depressing, especially when you are dealing with a serious subject matter like child abuse. I want the story to be serious, but not so heavy that it's hard to read.

I think that Severus' wish that Harry were HIS son, not James', took him my surprise. He really doesnt' want to feel that way. He'd give anything to go back and change the hands of time, but he's seeing Harry in a different light these days, and he's starting to think more of Liily everytime he sees Harry, and it confuses him that all these feelings are coming out.

LOL, yeah, can you just picture him telling James to stuff his money, where the sun don't shine!

I don't think that Harry meant to tell Ron and Hermione abou the abuse, but perhaps his subconcious was a better judge of the fact that he needed to confide in his friends and that the support from his friends will help him heal.

Acitually, in the book Harry learns about Sirius in the parlour at the Leaky Cauldron. I've taken bits from the movie, in this story and bits from the book. This scene actuallly has some direct quotes from the book about the conversation between Molly and Arthur arguing about whether to tell Harry, but I've added some dialogue of my own to include Severus in the scene to make it look as though he was there in the original scene. I'm hoping that it worked.

Thanks so much, and I'm so enjoying Sacrifices as well. It's so well written, and I always love a younger Harry, or should I say "Tevin".

Hey Dawn. In answer to your query about weight...even one stone is too much weight for Harry to have put on. Maybe two or three pounds would be okay. There are 14 pounds in a stone.

I know this because we used imperial weights here until I was into my twenties. I grew up with it.

    Lesley~

    Author's Response:

    Oh! (says sheepishly)

Uh, okay so is there a smaller equivalent?  Or is saying pounds acceptable in England?

I mean at that time. because we say kilograms here now, cause we're on metric like England is, but I don't know if they were at that time that the story was written.

The invisibility cloak comes into its own again. I am wondering how long it will take Snape to find out about its existence.

When Snape was checking Harry out back in the dungeons, you wrote that it looked as if Harry had put on a couple of stone. I think you might have meant pounds. No one could put on two stone in so short a time, especially if they are still only eating enough to keep a sparrow alive. I also do not understand why Harry would have worn his grotty old clothes to the Leaky Cauldron when the new clothes had been purchased at Hogsmeade. Or did I get that wrong?

They are both still trying very hard to tolerate each other, even if they are not succeeding terribly well. Harry was very quick to stick up for Severus when Ron went into his usual negative speel.

Not a lot happened but we are still moving forward. I wonder if Sirius followed them to London? Or would he even know they have gone?

    Lesley

    Author's Response:

Yeah, Harry had better watch out.  His luck is going to run out eventually.

Oh, well I was trying to make it sound British, but obviously I was not very effective!!  Okay, so I guess that I should change it to "a" stone. Oh, well how much IS a stone? A few pounds? Oh well, forgive my "un-Britishness"!  Well, they had just come from shopping and he didn't have time to change before. They arrived directly at the Leaky Cauldron from shopping.

Yeah, Harry and Snape are struggling, but that is normal. Rome wasn't built in a day. It's going to take time. Will you forgive me if I use another cliche?  Uh, a leopard doesn't change it's spots, or at least so easily. Snape is a greasy git, and that's not going to change so easily. He's just not used to being nice or diplomatic. But, Harry is very perceptive. He knows that although, Snape is not exactly "nice", he has noticed a subtle change in his demeanour.

Hmm...Sirius is very smart, in or out of dog form. I'm sure that he knows they are in London.

Terrific chapter! Also, I agree with you about not letting Harry & Snape get close to fast. It seems awfully out of character.

    Thanks again!

Author's Response: Thanks. Yes, it is out of character for them to become too close too fast, but that is not the only reason that I don't want them too become too close at this point--the reason which will be apparant later. It's just not time yet. There is still plenty of time for them to form a relationship after they've struggled a bit with "other" challenges to come. (Evil cackle) I have plans.... (Another evil cackle, and laughter).
