Thank you for updating I loved the scene with Draco hiding from pansy under the table someone should draw picture of it!
And the plot thickens! I'm looking forward to more info about Karkaroff, and if he's really ready to break with the Deatheaters, or if he's looking to hoodwink Severus and Dumbledore...
I like the way you've fit the changes into canon, and I especially like how you wrote Harry's first meeting with Luna Lovegood. :) She'll be a good friend for him.
Hopefully Ron will come around, too, once he's actually stopped and thought about what Harry told him. I like how Neville has become part of Harry's new trio, too.
I'm wondering just what Draco's agenda is...
Please keep up the great work on this story. I'm always eager at the end of each chapter to see what happens next.

Lovely chapter... I particularly liked the interaction between Harry and Neville. And it's J.R.R. Tolkien who also has a birthday on January 3rd. :)
This is a really great story! I've just spent the last couple of hours catching up and I really like the complexity of the plot, and the way you are keeping Severus in character as the "mean git of the dungeons" and yet also, during private times, showing us the gentler, fatherly figure when he's alone with Harry.
And I think that in the end, he might just bite the bullet and assign Black as Harry's Godfather again--for Harry's sake. It will be fun to see if I'm right or not!

As a prelimenary (yes, my spelling sucks, I'm not an english major)review, I liked it. I need to go back and re-read the rest though, I'm afraid I only remember bits of the rest of the story, but I remember that it's worth re-reading.
Can't quite remember everything that's happened up to this point... maybe you could leave a summary at the beginning of next chapter? But I enjoyed the chapter, can't wait to see what happens next! :)

and doesn't the Dumbledore know Legilimency?
there is a mistake about Harry's age; you wrote fifteen-year-old but he's 14.

How can Petunia say that the journal is for Severus, when Lily at the time thought Severus was dead? And now she just let him take the box - I hope Harry ever gets to see the contents..
And I hope there are some explanations as for Petunia's behaviour; it's quite confusing. Why didn't she treat Harry better if she loved her sister so much? Or why wouldn't she talk to him about his parents?
