Reviews For Half-Life
Author's Response: I felt so bad for Severus here because all of his choices in this situation were terrible; this was the only one he could live with, I imagine. Thanks for reading! -P.G.
I understand Severus' choice perfectly, it was his son's life at stake, and yet, at the same time, I am left with the horror that comes from him killing a unicorn. Parent's will do just about anything to save their children even if, as he said, for just one more hour. Great fic!

Parent's will do just about anything to save their children even if, as he said, for just one more hour. Great fic! Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed this. It was horrific for him to kill the unicorn, but at the same time, he didn't even think about the consequences; he just wanted to save Harry. At least he has his priorities straight as a father, whether it was the right choice or not. Thanks for reading! -P.G.
Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad you think so :). I already know I'm going to have a hard time choosing who to vote for in this fest--the stories are all so good! Again, thanks for reading! -P.G.
Author's Response: Totally speechless? That's quite a compliment; thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it! -P.G.
Author's Response: Thanks--I'm glad I got you thinking! That was my goal of this piece. I think that other people would eventually see things from Severus' side, but I think their initial reaction would be bad because Severus has committed a horrible crime and Harry had no say in the matter. Also, I kind of picture this as the type of universe where people didn't want Severus to be Harry's father because he's an ex-Death Eater, which means that they've been waiting for something to go wrong. I don't think they expected this, but it's so horrific that they just need someone to blame and nobody really knows what the right choice would be; really, there isn't one that is truly appealing in this tale. I have not read that story, though I'd probably like it if it's similar. Thanks for reading! -P.G.
Author's Response: Good--I'm glad to hear that the unicorn came as a surprise! I was hoping it would and that the title wouldn't give it away! While I'm not planning on making this a longer story (though I think it would make an excellent longer story), I have been thinking about writing a sequel because so many things are left unanswered. Thanks for reading! -P.G.

Who were Sev's attackers? Was he arrested for killing the unicorn or was he just beaten to a pulp by outraged people? And the worst thing is not knowing what kind a life Harry has been condemned to. He will certainly be scared unless Fawkes can help with that. Very sad. Lesley~ Author's Response: I'm glad I conveyed what I had hoped for. I had toyed with making up a beast to attack Harry, but then I decided it was scarier if I left it up the reader's imagination. It's very surreal for Severus that way too because he didn't even see what did it. The Forbidden Forest is known for containing some of the most scariest beasts around and I get the idea that nobody really knows about everything that is out there. I'll let you imagine what you will about the beast. The same goes for Sev's attackers, actually. I do have a couple of people that I picture, but really, it could anyone at the school or in the Order. In this story, I kind of get the feeling that those people didn't want Harry to be Sev's son in the first place and so they've been waiting for Severus to mess up in some way. Of course, this is above and beyond anything they imagined, certainly, and it's not Severus' fault, but people tend to be quick to place the blame in these sorts of situations. I think he was arrested for both killing the unicorn and by cursing Harry with its blood. Harry had no choice in this situation, but now he might be cursed with a half-life, which the golden boy's admirers really cannot stand. It is my opinion that the people who locked Sev up thought Harry should have just been allowed to die since he was in such bad condition. I had not thought of Fawkes when writing this. That's a good idea and if I should ever write a sequel, I'm sure he'd have a part in it. Thanks for the review Lesley--you always give me something to think about, which I appreciate. -P.G. |
