Harry is still very young. He doesn't realize yet that you can't force people to like each other and it's not right to make people chose that way. 'Love me, love my dog' just doesn't work.

    Author's Response: Totally!

Wow, this was an interesting story.

In my opinion, Snape was in the right in here. So, he became a Death Eater. Yes, that was bad, but he mostly joined for acceptance and recognition because he never seemed to get that anywhere else. He gets the flak for doing that but not Sirius for proving he was capable of murder at sixteen, no matter how intentional it was?

Another thing that bothers me is that people seem to take what Remus and Sirius said about him giving as good as he got. Since people can't apparently figure it out, they were biased. Of course they were going to justify their actions to make Snape the bad guy in all this.

Sure, he said something slightly rude, but James and Sirius were the first to insult him, call him a terrible name, and get physical, as one of them did try to trip him.

I think that both Snape and Lily were at fault in their relationship. Lily was literally trying to control him and to get rid of his Housemates, despite the fact that he shared a dorm with them. She also disapproved of his interest in the Dark Arts.

While most people seem to hate them, I've always viewed it as how you choose to use them. They may be...questionable, but it all comes down to the wizard and how he uses the Dark Arts.

But Snape was also getting influenced by his dorm mates. I get that he wanted to be accepted, but they twisted him to the point he called a Lily a Mudblood (something, which, was a more of a stressed out and heat of the moment thing than actually meaning it). But I think that she didn't leave him just for that. Rather, it was the final straw. She decided that Snape had chosen his path and that he wasn't the same kid she knew, and broke off all ties with him because of how much he had changed.

    Author's Response:

Our choices and how we respond to them are what make us who we are as people. I like that Sev eventually realized his bad choices and made an effort to correct them to the best of his ability. He even tried to correct after the incident with Lily. However, We don’t know if Lily ever corrected hers or if she continued on her merry way.

I think that Lily had changed too from the young girl Sev met.  She had been told for years that anyone in Slytherin went bad.  I think people forget that while it might have been the “final straw” for Lily, it also allowed her to fit in with her house.  Sev wasn’t the only one with House peer pressure.

Sorry for the Uber late response.

I think you have nailed it right on. People don't rake Lily over the coals for not forgiving Severus for saying untimely slur in a moment of stress, but the DO insist Severus "get over" his hatred of the Marauders.

    Author's Response:

It's amazing what biases make people say. People assume since Sev was able to grow up he should be able to forgive.  I think they confuse forgiving and forgetting.  Plus Sev'slater actions prove he was on the path to darkness, so why should have Lily forgiven him? (that was sarcasm.)

In reality I doubt Sev really got a chance to emotionally grow up.  I have a feeling trauma probably stunted him in that area. plus no one ever admits that the Mauraders did anything wrong.  They just expect Sev to take it, because he is a Slytherin.

     Thanks for reading.

I loooooved this story! I'm so glad you made the ending realistic, it makes a nice change to read something that's different from the normal happy ending! Really really enjoyed it :)

This was a sad story. If only Snape or Sirius could find a compromise. But some people never do.

Author's Response: Nope.  They don't.  Sometimes to keep the people you love, you have to agree to disagree.

I am terribly pleased I could make your day. I need to read more of your work. I just wanted to let you know that the professor has approved of your one shot, so it is being recommended on his Tumblr blog. http://professor-snape.tumblr.com/post/17440896078/via-hogwarts-headmaster-by-albertvamphir-on

Thank you... to both of you.

As for my other work, most of it for HP is here except for two poems.  I'd love to have you read it and I hope you enjoy it.

    *Blinks slowly*

Well, I definitely have some thoughts to keep me warm as I walk to the grocery store and the laundrymat!

     Thanks again.

This was a fantastic story that illustrated the differences between Gryffindors and Slytherins. What Severus said to Harry was as clear as a bell to me. It was frustrating that Harry was just not getting it.

I do not see this as an end to their relationship, but a snag. There are some things that Harry is just going to have to muddle through, and this is one of them. It could take a long while, but someday it might be him Floo calling Severus.

    Author's Response:

*blinks and stares wide-eyed at who reviewed*

    Oh my god......

Thank you for the review!  This is probably the most wonderful surprise of the day.  You are one of my favorite authors and to have you review one of my pieces... well I'm most appreciative and humbled.

     *blushes*

Seriously, this story has brought a lot of surprise reviewers who are my favorites, *cough* Snapegirlandyou *cough*,  I just wanted to thank you for making my day.

Now that I'm done gushing like the barely out of grad school girl I am..... on to more serious business.

First off thank you.  I really wanted to show how the two, well (how to say it?), sides viewed the world.  Harry for some reason is currently still stuck in Gryffindor land.  And you're right, its not the end of their relationship as mentor/mentee or as friends.  Harry just believes it is.  I think he's going to be getting a head smacking in the near future and will be flooing Severus as well.

    *grins*

Did I give away too much?  Perhaps.

Either way, thank you for your review!

PS- Looking forward to reading more Harry/Sev stories from you one day!  Until then I have a nice long story to re-read multiple times.  *grins

You're welcome, it was my pleasure!

When I write Sirius in my stories, it's usually with him coming to a realization he never did in the books--that Snape wasn't evil and he treated Severus meanly and unfairly, and that's the big difference between my Sirius and canon Sirius, who never admitted he was wrong about Severus.

For an idea to make Harry realize he was mistaken:

I noticed that Harry accuses Severus of starting the problems with the Marauders, but I think he needs to go back and take a look at Snape's memories again, because he's wrong. Sirius and James were the ones who started with Severus and Lily by barging into their compartment and into a private conversation as well, with James making disparaging comments about Slytherins and Sirius giving Sev that terrible name.

Secondly, perhaps someone, maybe Hermione, could then ask Harry if HE would ever forgive Dudley for doing what HE did to Harry? I don't see Harry cozying up and inviting his good old cousin to Sunday dinner and a few drinks at the pub, do you? Or Harry and Ginny taking the kids to visit Dudley and the folks, in the interests of lets all be friends and forget how they used to treat Harry like a slave.

So . . . maybe Harry ought to think about that before he points a finger at Severus, hmm?

Harry might also think about the fact that Sirius would prefer not to have anything to do with Severus, and the feeling's mutual. He might even consider asking Sirius is he thinks SNAPE's a good person after all HE did for the light and see what his answer is.

I also think someone needs to remind Severus that just because he did terrible things doesn't mean he's going to burn in hell. The ones who do that are those who remain unrepentant about what they have done. Those who sincerely regret and repent of their wrongdoing are forgiven and go to heaven. Or at least that's what I was taught in Sunday school.

    Hope this helps a little!

    Author's Response:

You know I completely forgot that people could post more than one post to P&S for each chapter.  Imagine my surprise when I saw another review from you!  *grins*  Thanks.

Ah... now I see the difference.  I'll admit I still need to finish some of your stories where Sirius is in there a great deal because he reminded me too much of a person who abused a friend of mine.  (Avoidance issues much, right?  Too true.)  I particularly want to finish reading Two Hawks since the first story is one of my favorites.

I like the idea of him realizing that he is mistaken.  Hm..... I'm thinking Mione since I try to avoid thinking of Ginny as his wife, future wife, girlfriend etc....  Or maybe something a little more... spiritual. Maybe James or Lily.  I'm definitely going to include Sirius, but I fear that Harry would just agree with whatever Sirius says at this point because the view owuld be justified in his mind.  (And he thinks he's grown up?)

Dudly is an idea....   We'll have to see about that one.

Severus is going to need a strong reminder that he is not going to burn.  I remember that vividly from 4 years of sunday school and 12 years of Catholic school (go nuns!) that if you are willing to work for forgiveness the supreme being won't deny you.  It'll probably come into play.

     Thanks again for your help!
