Okay-- I'm intrigued: What's in the mysterious box? (Reminds me of "The Village"...) Seriously, tho', the story is off to a good start, although I already get a sense of darkness lurking just around the corner. Great relationship between Snape and Harry, but it will be interesting to see how Harry adjusts to life as a Gryffindor, way up in the tower as opposed to a Slytherin in the dungeon. (Am wondering if Harry had hoped to be a Slytherin in order to be closer to Snape's quarters while at school.)

Author's Response: Howdy, Shadow! Thanks for reviewing, especially on a past chapter! I am glad that you are intrigued! Hmm ... I haven't really heard of The Village ... but perhaps I must check it out. I think Harry has mixed feelings about being sorted into Gryffindor, as any kid would. One one hand, he could have been Slytherin with his father as the Head of House - similar to home, and on the other, be in Gryffindor and enjoy the freedom from time to time. Cheers!

Can't believe Harry managed to keep the secret! Good chapter as always. I could really see Ben and Severus just talking all night with no awkward pauses even after all this time, picking things straight up as real friends do. Severus is going to be happier now, I'm sure.

Author's Response: Hey rosina! It is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed the chapter. Yes, Harry must have been just bursting to tell Severus! Knowing Ben is alive will definitely make Severus feel a lot better, that is for sure. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Really enjoyed the chapter, it’s always interesting when a private person opens up. However, I might disagree with Ben about suggesting Severus should see a mind healer. I think in his (and Ben’s) case - just because they shared the same experiences - a friendly conversation could do a lot more good than a session with a therapist.

Author's Response: Hello Annora. Great to hear you were glad that Severus opened up a bit. Hmm, I can see what you mean to some degree about Ben's suggestion. The way I see it, however, is that Severus still has a lot of adverse side effects from his experiences, and while Ben's been through a lot of the same, advice from someone with an entirely different perspective might be a good thing. I think Severus needs a bit of both - support among friends and family, and a little support elsewhere, which might give him a bit of a different perspective on some of it. Anyway, that's my reasoning, and who says Severus will take Ben's advice! He is stubborn, and Ben only suggested it because it was good for him. It's good to hear your thoughts on it. :) Thanks for reviewing.

Awesome! I just knew Ben and Severus would share their stories freely with each other.

Author's Response: Thanks for sharing your thoughts. :)

Excellent story. I appreciate that you've done such a good job of not just using the Falklands War as a convenient background but making the effort to research it and make Severus's involvement real and believable. I read your descriptions and it brings to mind the news reports at the time with the still photos and the crackly voice reports from the embedded reporters. It all seemed so distant, even though we were getting reports mostly within a few hours of events.

And major kudos for coming up with a VC-worthy action that is perfect for Severus and the story and illustrates the nature of heroism.

I wouldn't worry about any lack of detail in the fighting - as they say, less is more and your less is definitely more! :)

And finally, my father was ground crew in the RAF in WWII. He would have been 20 during the Battle of Britain and though he's told one or two stories of the air raids, he'd then go quiet and change the subject. So, yes, I get the feeling that those who've lived through it often don't like to talk about it, so both Tobias and Severus's reactions ring true for me.

Very much looking forward to your update!

Author's Response: Hey charlie74656! It is so good to hear that you are enjoying it. I have tried really hard to immerse myself in the topic, and make the Falklands more than just a background, so I am pleased you are finding it to be well portrayed. It is also really fantastic to hear you liked how Severus got the VC, because that seriously kept me up at nights. I was worried it wasn't believable enough, or that it didn't fit, but I really liked what I could do with the situation, so I kept it. Great to hear you also feel that less is more in this situation, because I really could have gone to town with the gore and horrorific sights, but I thought it was't what the story needed, so it is nice to hear you feel the same way! Yes, I spent a lot of time thinking about how Severus and Tobias would react to their experiences, either wanting to talk or not wanting to, and from what I have seen also with people who I have known to have seen action, most don't. Once again, thank you so much for your review, and such a detailed one at that. This kind of feedback really helps me grow as a writer, by allowing me to see through the eyes of the readers. So thank you! Cheers!

Oh, that was clever of Tobias, writing the letters he couldn't send in a notebook!
And I bet Harry has Ben lying in wait, back at Hogwarts!

Author's Response: Good to hear you like Tobias' idea! Hmm, that would be pretty devious of Harry to bring Ben over it secret - I suppose you'll have to see!

As usual great chapter, awesome way of writing, I'm glad I got a reprieve from my waterworks I really don't know if I have enough tears for this story. I'll faithfully await the next update but wish you best of success (luck only favours the clever after all) in your midterms. You'll do great. I can't wait to see just what Harry did now, though I have a suspicion that I know who that rustling is. I can't help but wonder though if Eileen was in on this or not. As I said before Harry may be Gryffindor, but he's also half Slytherin, and raised by Slytherins plus a cunning Muggle... so yeah. All the best Whitetail!!!!
    Your friend, Sev

Author's Response: Hello! Thank you for the well wishes for Midterms! I'll need all the well wishes I can get for my Physics one.*Screams in terror*. I am glad that you got a chance to catch your breath in this chapter, and it is lovely to know that you are faithully waiting for the next! ;) My my, good question ... What is Eileen's involvement? You are definitely right that Harry is half Slytherin, and his grandmother is all Slytherin too, so it is definitely true they are capable of many a devious plot. I suppose you will have to wait and see. Loving the guesswork! Cheers!

I wonder who is waiting for Severus with Harry? :) I’m so looking forward to more, especially Eleanor’s backstory after all we learned about her and her family in the previous chapter. A reunion between Severus and Ben would be beyond exciting.
This chapter was amazing, too. So many heartwrenching and heartwarming lines, and it’s always a pleasure to have Eileen and her wise words back.

Author's Response: Ah yes, I do love writing Eileen. I only wish I could throw more of her in here! And Tobias too. I have a lot of backstory with him and Severus - enough that I could probably make an enitre follow up just between Tobias' death and Severus returning from his war. But alas ... I probably won't. I am glad you are enjoying Eleanor - you shall hear about her somewhat. I quite agree that something like a reunion would be a great deal of fun. Thanks so much for your review, Annora, and your kind words. You definitely made a Monday better! :)
