Reviews For To Trust
Your style of writing is engaging and believable, Snape charmingly Snapish, dark themes wonderfully woven into your plot. Pure joy to read, and I just adore witty troubled Harry. Update regularly! Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing! It makes me so happy to hear that you like my writing style and characterizations. I'm so glad to have a new reader! Never fear, I should be updating within the week, so stick around.
Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing! I'm all grinning and excited because your story is one of my favorites, so it's great to know that you like mine as well. Most intriguing Harry you've ever read? Couldn't stop reading? Day made. yayayayay 3x! Okay, done gloating now. I agree, the way Harry brushes off the Dursley's abuse in canon does seem wrong, and it really gets to me that nothing was ever done about it. Molly, seriously, you brought down Bellatrix, and you let it keep happening because Dumbledore 'had his reasons'? And Dumbledore. Don't even get me started. I do feel the need to defend JK, however, and say that she was just writing for children (who wouldn't notice the lack of realism in Harry's behavior) most likely not expecting many adults to read it, let alone to become rabidly obsessed, and the abuse give the story a fairy tale-like quality, where Harry is rescued from a sad and lonely existance, then brought to a magical castle where he's famous and talented (that was a run-on sentence, but who's in charge here, anyway?). Not to mention, if the abuse was properly explored in canon, we'd need an eighth book. So now all of us rabid fans can properly explore the abuse in fanfic and vent our frustrations, plus douse Snape with a large dose of reality while we're at it ;) (Speaking of, how freaking long is it going to take for your Snape to pull his head out of his ---? It's making me crazy!)
Author's Response: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
You are doing a great job and this is a fantastic story. Author's Response: Hello again. Sorry about that, it did occur to me later on that I may have misunderstood. *laughs awkwardly*. I feel a bit stupid now, though I do take crtiticism seriously, so don't hesitate in that regard. I appreciate you taking the time to let me know that misunderstood. Yeah, I do agree with you; it is unrealistic that canon Harry was able to form attatchments so easily after a loveless childhood, though, I think it was more due to the fact that j.k. didn't want to focus on that. And since the books are geared towards children, the average ten year old isn't going to read it and think 'Harry's actions are highly unrealistic'. But now, as a adult, it makes it harder to read the books when all I want to do is give Harry a hug, send the Dursleys to Azkaban, and throw Dumbledore out the window (he really does have some nerve, giving one measley apology in the fifth). I suppose we have fanfic to vent our fustrations.
(Also, I think that one person meant that JKR wasn't realistic in how abused children recover, though of course, I can't be positive.) Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing! You're the author of splinters of a broken mirror and shattered! I adore those stories! When are you updating????? I get so excited when my favorite authors review my story. I'm really glad you think the story is progressing realistically. And yeah, I kind of realized afterwords that I misunderstood Ann Jinn's comment, but for some reason, the site won't let me take down responses once posted.
Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing. I noticed that you've reviewed every chapter so far, and I really appreciate that. I'm glad you think their relationship is developing realisitically.
Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing! Chapter 9 soon to come. |
