Oh, Merlin, Hermione is really going to regret this when he finds out Dumbledore is just playing her. Poor Harry. He just had a great evening and everything is once again ruined at Dumbledore's hands. The way Harry apologizes over and over again even though its not his fault shows just how much he needs his friends. I hope the three of them manage to patch things. But I do admit Ron is being a complete and utter idiot for no apparent reason. I mean, at least Dumbledore has that greater good excuse for being a git. What excuse does Ron have for abandoning his best friend?

I liked the exchange between Snape and Harry. Snape uses a pun and he calls his own potion stupid! That combined with Harry's attitude just spices up that conversation. I wish they talked for longer! What will Snape think if he finds out that Harry is now friendless? Will it bring them closer together?

    Author's Response:

Yeah, Hermione's going to regret it!  She's well-intentioned, even if making a horrible mistake, and I couldn't be upset with her (too much) due to her good intentions.  Ron is just being dumb.  In canon, he's continually jealous of Harry.  Jealousy is a green eyed monster and leads people to do terrible things.

And yes, it most certainly will bring Harry and Snape closer, now that Harry considers himself friendless!  Snape is his only human companionship.

Excellent father son moment. Harry's gratitude is both sweet and heartbreaking at the same time. The fact that the wounds were used to note the passing of time is an excellent addition. It shows the reader the effect that imprisonment had on Harry more effectively than a thousand words.

I can't believe that Dumbledore can be this cruel! At first I believed he was just too focused on the greater good but now I see that he's just evil. Nothing can condone sitting by and allowing a child to be abused. I am getting the feeling that Dumbledore hates them both more and more. You ended the chapter in a perfect note, with the words "Thanks You."

Author's Response: Yes, yes, Dumbles is not a good guy.  Hehe.  Just wait till the next bucket of cold water falls.  *looks unconvincingly innocent*

Wow, this is one emotional chapter. I am glad that I'm fully awake to appreciate it. Harry’s abuse was extensive but I liked how Severus handled it. Insisting to know the details and giving sympathy instead of pity. The parallels between father and son are moving and I hope that this will convince Harry to trust his father. It seems an odd coincidence that both their abuses were condoned by Dumbledore. He ruined both of their lives almost as if he had some personal vendetta against them. Did someone from the Snape family hurt him somehow?

I think working together would be a great idea! I’d love to read your stories both fanfiction and original and I certainly would appreciate your opinions on mine. I’m working on a couple of original short stories and one fanfiction. It’s called “For the Greater God” and it also features a meddlesome and heartless Dumbledore. I’d be honored if you’d beta read my story. Although, I probably can’t update it this month. February is the month of exams in Italy. (Why? Just why don’t they use the Avada Kedavra! It’s an easier way to die not to mention an honorable way for a potterhead.)

I’ll drop by your facebook page and send you a message with my email address. I hope I’ll get to read more of your stories!

    Author's Response:

It's funny that you question if Dumbledore has a personal vendetta against Harry and Severus...I'm sitting here grinning.  You're good.  ;)

Good luck on your exams!  I definitely understand if you don't have time to write for a bit.  =)

Yes! Harry accepted his apology. I am glad he talked to McGonagall and found out more about Snape. This gave him a greater insight into his true character. I liked how you explained Snape's bitterness. It made the story realistic while at the same time making the reader feel more sympathy for Snape. I like to think that this explanation could also be used for canon Snape. He was the bitter person he turned out to be because of all the lonely years that he endured. It mustn't have been easy to spend your life making amends for one fatal mistake.

I am surprised by what you said. That is just like the situation I'm in. I want to become a writer but I need more practice so I have begun to write fan fiction. Unlike you, I am a long way from my goal. There is much to improve in my story but yours is fantastically done. The insight into the characters, the suspense, the thick plot, the emotional moments, they were all skilfully managed. You definitely pulled it off. I hope you do capture your ideas onto paper. I have a feeling it will be a great read!

Oh, the bucket is there all right. I have been drenched dozens of times since reading this story. I can feel the bucket hovering over my head ready to assault me with a cold river. You should put a big warning on the story: A Summer Read Only. Risk of Cold Water Dumping Ahead.

    Author's Response:

I think it does explain canon Snape, yes.  I don't think Lily would have been friends with the Snape that we meet in the books, which would mean that he changed at some point.  I've been very close to becoming bitter myself, but there's always been that one person to pull me back; what would have happened if that one person wasn't there?

You know what, I like you.  We should work together on stories.  I will be happy to beta your fanfiction, and your original things too.  (I'm way worse about doing non-fanfiction in a timely manner though.)  I have a Facebook page set up for myself as a fanfiction author under my user name, "The Lonely God With A Box."  If you care to, we could talk from there, maybe move it over to my personal Facebook and/or email.  I don't want to give out my name or email over a public review though, naturally.  But seriously, contact me if you're interested in working together.

I really like that warning.  It's made me laugh really hard.  You're supposed to be going to bed though!

wow . Great story. Unexpected prologue though lol

So...no Ron is Dumbledore, no Ron using a time-turner? Okay you had me going . lol

Author's Response: Nope, it was all a dream!  Glad you liked it though.  :)

What is that old coot up to now? Dumbledore seems to know more than he ever should. Can he see into the future? What are all these events leading up to? You definitely keep the suspense alive. Have you ever considered writing your own novel?

    Good night. :)

    Author's Response:

Ooooh, the Dumbledore Plot is definitely one to be discovered slowly.  Let me know when that cold water is dumped on you!  *evil grin*

Actually, yes, I have considered writing original works.  This story was actually an experiment to see if I could do that.  I think I pulled it off.  I have a couple original ideas floating around in my head, but fanfiction keeps distracting me from them!

Title: The Water of the Womb 03 Feb 2015 12:07 am

Oh no! Harry is rejecting him. This is heartbreaking. I really wanted them to get along but I understand Harry's reaction. He is entitled to feel angry after the way Snape had treated him for four years. Besides hadn't Snape told him that he hated Harry infinitely? That is a lot to get over. In most stories of Snape as the natural father the transition from bitter Snape to caring Snape is too sudden and this makes the situation less believable but this is defibtely not the case here. I liked how Snape was seen to care for Harry's well being even before he knew Harry was his son. He never admitted it to himself but he was willing to help the enemy's son. I hope Harry will realise this in time.

Now, I do believe I shall go to sleep. I bid you adieu. (Or maybe the adiue will wait for one more chapter.)

Sorry for the misspelling. After midnight, grammar goes flying out the window.

    Author's Response:

I like how you picked up on some of that stuff with Snape!  He "hated Harry infinitely" but was willing to help him anyway.  He chose to advocate for Harry to Dumbledore, and wanted to see Sirius torn limb from limb when he thought Sirius was guilty.  Harry will eventually come around, if you haven't figured, but I know I would feel pretty angry if someone told me they were my parent after antagonizing me.  (I had actually planned for Harry to accept it well, and then Harry was like "Nope, not happening.")

No need to apologize for misspelling.  It's perfectly understandable.  :)

Severus and Sirius are getting along. That is a rare sight indeed. I hope that even after Black finds out the truth about Harry's father, he will care for the boy. Harry deserves all the love he can get, especially since Ron is being a gigantic duchbag.

Yo, don't worry about me! I have plenty of practice with getting through the day after spending the night reading stories. The trick is to sleep with your eyes open and paste a smile on your face so no one will realise you aren't paying them the least bit of attention!

    Author's Response:

Hehe, I don't want to spoil anything!  *whistles loudly*

Okay, I won't worry about you, but feel free to sleep if you want to!

Wow! I can only imagine what went through poor Harry's head at that little exchange. Snape ignored him the entire time! I'm seriously looking forward to the part where Harry finds everything out. How will he react? This story just keeps me on my toes and I don't want to stop reading it. Its a pity that its past midnight and I have work to do tomorrow. I want to go to bed but I can't stop reading. Excellent job!

Author's Response: Yo, you should go to bed.  It'll be there in the morning.  :)

I hate, hate, hate this Dumbledore!! You have done a wonderful job with his character. Strong emotions are evoked in the reader only by a competent writer and you have done so brilliantly. This chapter was like a splash of cold water on my face.

Every single fact shocked me to the core. Harry was having hallucinations? Snape's memories were false? Dumbledore is an idiot? My mouth dropped open at the beginning of the chapter and didn't close until the end. Absolutely brilliant! This is both original and fantastically written. I love your Severus and I am heartbroken that his memories were all taken away. Did I mention that I hate Dumbledore? Thanks for a fantastic read!

Author's Response: I'm so glad you like it!  Prepare yourself for drenches of cold water though.  I just posted the epilogue so you can get the whole story now!  Oh, and please review lots.  I like your reviews!  :D
