Great chapter with much to celebrate, until the chapter end, which was sad and unexpected.
Author's Response: I'm pleased that you liked it, and yet aware of the disappointing end... Let me explain: with this story I really wanted to explore what it might be like, realistically, given that everything had happened just as in canon, if Snape's and Harry's relationship was to change into something including mutual respect and trust. And I just believe it would take quite some time, so this story will repeatedly advance by two steps forward and one backward...

Wow! that was intense! Snape tried to Obliviate Harry? Seems a bit dangerous, and WRONG. I'm so glad that Harry was able to protect himself, but I reckon it will put some distance in their relationship. Too bad. It seemed like they had made a lot of progress. Great chapter.

Author's Response: Don't worry, I am. With Snape's character it is one step forward and two steps backwards, so it will be a long story... :-) And he is not as bad as he seems at the beginning of this story.

I'm surprised that Snape hasn't trusted Harry more. He knows Harry better now and is aware that he is trustworthy. Harry never told anyone about Severus' worst memory so it isn't likely that he will tell anyone about that night or Snape's other memories.
