I liked several things in this chapter: first, obviously, the cliffhanger - what will happen to Hermione? Very good ending. But I also enjoyed the description of Snape in Diagon alley and at Knockturn alley. I appreciate that you picture the camaraderie of the Death Eaters at the same time as their cruelty. It is not black or white - it is complicated, as Snape so often says in your story.
My favourite part in this chapter, however, is the conversation and the closeness between Snape and Harry and particularly the tale about how Dumbledore got rid of Snape’s pets and how Snape retaliated by burning down Dumbledore’s stable, but saved the horses without letting Dumbledore know. That says so much about their relationship. Brilliant.
I believe there are several stories in your story: there is the direct, action-ridden plot and there is the very interesting ”psychoanalytical” saga about fathers and sons (or parents and children). Dumbledore sees something of his lost son in Snape and wants a new chance to be a good father, determined not to repeat his earlier mistake when he ignored the signs of evilness in his son, therefore projecting the son’s evil character on Snape, overcompensating with sternness and thus treating Snape with cruelty.
That is the challenge for all parents - to see your child as a unique individual and not a copy of yourself or of someone else that you have a history with. You need to avoid projecting your own feelings, wishes and dreads on your children and sort of just observe them, lovingly, unbiassed and with curiosity and let them develop their own traits. Guide them, of course, but not read things into them that are not there…
Thanks for illustrating that in such an interesting way.

Author's Response: I’m glad you liked the conversation between Harry and Snape. That scene was the hardest to write. I had originally written pages and pages of endless conversation and editing it so that the most important parts stood out was difficult. You really did understand the dynamic of Snape and Dumbledore’s relationship. Your comments sound exactly like my character analysis. Most readers believe that Dumbledore is simply a psychopath and I was worried that I hadn’t managed to convey the complexity of their relationship, how his love for Snape and for Tyrus are tangled together. He does love Severus like a son but he is afraid. The image of his dead sons does not leave his mind, fear blinds him to the good within Severus. A major theme in this story is about the relationships between parents and children. The main one I’m exploring is, of course, that between Snape and Harry but there are others such as Snape and Dumbledore, Harry and James and, later on, the Malfoys. I’m very glad you’re enjoying the ‘psychoanalytical’ side of the story. This is the first novel length story I’m writing and I hope that it will help me improve my writing style and technique. Because I’m always looking to improve, I see a lot of flaws in my work. Sometimes, after I’ve spent a lot of time staring at the chapters, not knowing how to edit (editing is always the hardest part), all I see are flaws. Reviews like yours help me see that I’m doing something right and it gives me the strength to continue writing. You understood what I was trying to convey through my words and that is simply fantastic! So, I just want to say thank you for your incredibly perceptive review.

    Terrifying. Absolutely terrifying.

Author's Response: Thanks! That's just what I was going for.

    HONESTLY DUMBLEDORE *GLARES AT HIM*
DON'T COME BETWEEN HARRY AND SNAPE IDC THEY ARE MY FAVORITE ADOPTIVE FATHER/SON (I only read Snape adopts Harry or Snape mentors Harry not Snape as Harry's bio father). Poor Harry though this ordeal must have rocked him

Author's Response: I only like adoptive stories too! Its much sweeter when Severus overcomes his hatred of James and loves Harry for his own sake (not simply because they're related). Harry has been through a lot but this time away from Snape made him realize how much he has grown to love his guardian.

Very AU! Interesting twist on Dumbledore and explains a lot, a very horrible man! Thank you a brilliant chapter

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. D will get worse as the story goes on.

Actually, I thought of Aryna even after "Unknown Curse" chapter. I sort of thought she was going to save him. xD

Oh, as for a personal meeting... aside of an account name stated as "SkyHighDisco" officially I prefer Blitz. (Can you have a normal private conversation on this webpage?) And we appear to be neighbors - I am from Croatia. Come stai? How's in Italy? Hot? I'm waking in shorts and bra around the apartment. At this rate, people will be dying around the streets of heat as the summer goes by...

And 'course I'll come by. Did you read what I wrote? "This story has a HEWGE potential. See? I said "hewge" like wrong pronounced in hope that you may further notice its meaning.

Oh, did I mention I was Gryffindor?

Author's Response: Hey Blitz! I searched for a way to have a private conversation on this site. There was a "contact author" on your home page so I responded to your questions using that button. Just to make sure, did you receive my message? Maybe P&S sent it to your email?

Well, screw Dumbledore and his twisted perceptions judged by the past events, that belongs to the madhouse on an intense healing treatment. >:(

What does that Visionara serum does anyways? Hope it doesn't mess his look on life or something. Or makes him forget people.
Watch out, though. If I get too pissed, I might "accidentally" deactivate and account or hack yours and make you give me the whole summary before I go entirely mad, aye?

You know what exactly am I going to do? I'm gonna wait till school is over entirely, so that I wouldn't get distracted - but just because this story has a HEWGE potential and is very very awesome - and then start reading again after all shit is done, aight?

Sooo... if SkyHighDisco leaves, she didn't really leave. She's just waiting in the shadows.

Oh, by the way! What's happening with Aryna? I somehow have that feeling that snake's gonna pop up at one moment and save the entire thing. xD

Author's Response: Oh my God! How the bloody hell did you know that Aryna was going to make a reappearance soon? She won't save everyone but she'll be in the next chapter. Did you consult your inner eye by any chance? You'll have to find out for yourself what the Visionara does. Its effects won't be pleasant. All I can say is that it won't cause any permamnent damage. Ha! You're pissed now? This is barely a minor conflict, something that is designed to get Harry and Severus closer together. I'm barely a third of the way through the story. As the plot moves on, the conflicts will become much more maddening. What do you think will happen when James walks up to Harry and Severus? Major trouble. But that is still a long way off. No! Don't leave! I'll miss your delightful reviews. I'll really happy that you think my story has potential! Stay in the shadows if you want, SkyHighDisco, but don't forget to drop by and say hi from time to time.

Oh my god that man is insane! How dare he believe that a child is evil. I hope Dumbledore rots! I'm glad Harry has Snape's protection. I'm glad Sprout got Snape out too!

Author's Response: Sprout is, in some ways, the opposite of Dumbledore. She believes in Severus unconditionally. D has a twisted sense of right and wrong. And the worst part is, he believes that he is always right.
