There are many names for you right now, you nasty Slytherin...

First of all, Dum-Dum is crazy. He's one deranged psycho. I hate when I, as a reader, know the truth, but the character stubbornly insists on something else, and in the end realizes what a pussy he has been, which brings me an immense pleasure.
And to make things worse, he thinks he's helping, but in fact makes things ten times worse. You made me hate this Dumbledore of yours, I don't care what happened in the past, he can't bluntly keep convince Snape he's evil, so that he himself would believe in it. Okay, he's not a pleasant person, that's true. He's cold, he shows no emotions whatsoever, but he's NOT. EVIL. Even Rowling said so. >:(

What's he playing at, anyways? To wake James up so he could piss Snape off and further convince him he's "evil"? What's his goal with this?

Also, is Sprout just a mirage or is she really taking Snape to Harry? Will they meet in the next chapter? You promised me they would see each other soon. :/

This chapter was supposed to be called: "How to take a piss out of SkyHighDisco with Dumbledore's appalling behavior!" Now how I'm supposed to study for school, you tell me. >.<
So when is the next one coming up? So I could settle down for a bit or my head will explode of anger.

Author's Response: First of all, sorry for the late response. For some reason, this site stopped giving me email alerts for reviews. I was sulking all day, thinking that nobody had reviewed my story! I don’t like my Dumbledore either! If you don’t like him now, you should see what happens later on. You’ll really hate him when he forces Severus to drink the Visionara potion. The effects will be disastrous! Prepare to be extra mega super duper pissed!! ;) Man, I love being nasty! James Potter is being resurrected, not in order to spite Severus, but because he is a great warrior of the light. His contributions to the order where essential in the first war against the dark lord’s forces. That is the only reason why D. is resurrecting him. Still, imagine Severus’s reaction when James comes walking through the door! The relationship between Harry and Severus will be stretched to the very limit! Sprout is definitely not a mirage. Next chapter will have a nice Harry – Snape moment. It will probably take another two weeks to write. Until then, study hard!!!

The frozen bodies are madness! It's really scary with a deranged Dumbledore. You explain very well the way he justifies his actions in his own mind, still believing himself to be "good", and the trauma behind the madness. I'm happy that H trusts his instincts and does not believe S guilty of poisoning and cursing him.

Author's Response: Thanks! I was a little worried that D.'s backstory would bore the readers but it was essential for understanding the way he behaves, especially in the chapters to come. I'm really glad you liked it. It took me a few trials to get their conversation right. I've found that D's point of view is the hardest to write.

    OHHHH MY GOOOOD WHAT???

That last part I'm just... WHAT. JAMES. OH MY GOD.

Ok, now that I've freaked out... I have to ask if Tyrus was just born evil? Like Voldemort? It would certainly make sense as to why Dumbledore would want to bring him down... eliminate the monster when he himself raised one. It was certainly a very moving, very tragic, very different Dumbledore backstory. I enjoyed that bit very much.

Ok, second thing- I hate this Dumbledore. He really creeps me out. He thinks of Severus as a son... but is thoroughly convinced he's evil? What? I guess he assumes so because of Tyrus... he loved Tyrus unconditionally, so I guess the same applies to Sev? Hm. I got chills reading that part... Severus is obviously struggling and having your mentor just throw your mistakes back in your face... eesh. I don't know how Sev's doing it.

Although... why isn't Severus livid? He seems just a bit too laid back about all this. Obviously he's trying to play it cool and not panic but.... I don't know. He's still wonderfully in character, but I could see him being a bit angrier about all this. Anyone's character and moral compass being questioned constantly is bound to make them snap. Still, their conversation was very... unsettling. And long.

You threw me for a loop with that last bit about James. I'm already thinking about how Harry is going to react to having his Dad back... and Severus. Uh oh. Oh no. (Also, I think Dumbledore laughing about having his "warrior" moment is the creepiest freaking thing I've ever read. He needs to be committed to St. Mungo's).

Amazing update, can't wait for next chapter!

Author's Response: Tyrus was his mother’s son so yes, he was genetically predisposed to evil. The bloodlust was always in him. Severus and Tyrus have many things in common. Being parcelmouths, loving darkness and solitude, the pale skin resulting from lack of sunlight, the suspicion in their eyes, love of the color black. That is the reason why D. took such a keen interest in Severus in the first place. Severus is rather passive in this story in regards to Dumbledore. Severus calls Dumbledore his mentor since he doesn’t want to seem overly sentimental but, in fact, he considers him more of a father figure. Severus grew up with Dumbledore. He spent Christmas, summer and easter vacations at Healer’s Touch. The headmaster is one of the few people who have shown him any type of kindness. D has saved his life many times, no matter what Severus does. These facts will inspire a certain sense of loyalty. Add to that, the enormous guilt that Severus feels for his past mistakes. Severus was once a bitter and angry boy, furious with Dumbledore and Potter. D's behaviour towards him did cause Severus to snap. He ran away from Healer's touch and joined the death eaters. He committed unspeakable crimes which he, now that his angry has died down, has come to regret. He has to live with these crimes for the rest of his life. He sees them in his nightmares, he sees them in the dark mark branded on his arm. Severus has come to the point of self-loathing. This makes him susceptible to Dumbledore’s manipulations and quick to see only the evil within himself. Now his anger is turned inwards and he thinks he deserves everything he gets. James Potter’s return will cause major mayhem everywhere. Imagine what will happen to the bond between Harry and Severus. Oh, I haven’t even gotten to the really creepy parts of the story yet! Thanks so much for your comments! I’m sorry it took so long to respond, I didn’t get email alerts for the reviews this time.

Wow what a chapter! A very good twist to the story and I can't wait to see how you resolve it. One point, if Dumbledore believed so quickly tha Severus is guilty why did he leave Harry with someone he felt would harm him?

Author's Response: Thanks! I thought that Harry's blindness will bring them closer together. Dumbledore didn't actually trust Severus. He placed Harry under heavy protection spells so that Severus would not be able to harm him. The moment he heard that Harry was blinded though, he assumed that Severus somehow found a way to bypass the protection spells.

omg what the hell happened!!! nooooooooooooooo harry and severus and ugh why is dumbledore like this and these emotions that the chapter has left me with *crosses arms over chest and glares at you* NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO they were being so father-son like *sobs*

--looks for 11 on the Rating dropdown menu--

Author's Response: Hehehehe!! I just love all the glares I'm getting on this chapter! I'm rubbing my hands together with a big evil smirk on my face (Severus would be so proud!) Dumbledore's reasons for acting this way will be partly revealed in the next chapter. Thanks for the review!!!!!

I’m glad that I found my way back to your story and had an opportunity to read it properly. I certainly like it - the characters are complex and I’m impressed by the way you tackle the issue of Snape’s past and the question whether a murderer can ever become a good/ decent person. Is Snape good or evil? What is Dumbledore? What was James?
The ambiguity of Snape’s behaviour towards Harry is maddening, sometimes bordering on schizophrenic (poor Harry!), but some scenes are simply brilliant, breath-taking because of the tension between the two characters and how they struggle. Oh, how they struggle! Despite everything, you’ve managed to make me feel great sympathy for Snape and outrage, in this last chapter, in regard to the treatment Dumbledore subjects him to. I’m as wary as Severus Snape of ”the greater good” at this stage.
It’s a clever story that doesn't simplify or sugarcoat things - I appreciate that! I’m impatient to read on and find out who cursed Harry and the truth about James Potter. Please don’t make Dumbledore ruin the frail bond that has formed between Harry and Snape!

Author's Response: First of all, let me say thank you for that great review! My greatest pleasure as a writer is to know that someone appreciates my story. Yes, the characters all have reasons for behaving the way they do. Traumatic events in their past affect the way they interact with each other. This is the case with both Dumbledore and Snape. (By the way, their backstories are different to the ones in the books.) In the next chapter, Dumbledore’s reasons for behaving the way he does towards Severus will become clearer. He follows his own twisted logic. But James Potter’s great secret will take a much longer time to come out of hiding. The bond between Harry and Snape will be stretched to the utmost limit as the story goes along but with each trial the bond becomes stronger than ever. Thank you for giving this story a chance!

I was laughing when I saw length of my review and now I laugh again seeing your answer XD totally match!
I love that you put so many thinking in background of their actions!!
Well Dumbledore went from one edge to another, make situation more complicated. I agree with your logic behind it, if someone do something wrong, wanting it or not but you are keeping it against that person. In that case Dumbledore is holding his son mistakes against Severus, cos he had made feelings transfer. I was really... mad (mad - from lack of a better word) that Dumbledore though Sev hexed himself being 13 yo kid without any proof or background really. In case you describes he probable thought of something his son done which was alike and assume Sev did the same, so there is a point why he is thinking it not just because, how he described it "James was such a good boy and you were always bitter". As it is it's unhealthy indeed... but after this mistake maybe someone will see his mistakes? (Hate D still the same, I just don't like him in total ;p)

    pathological love indeed!!

To mother example - mother trust her daughter, she don't trust the world ;)

PS. I figured it looked like flaming so I apologize just in case it offend you. And I love the story btw! Looking forward for next chapter.

Author's Response: When I respond, I normally match the response to the review. But in your case, I didn’t mean to make it that long! I just started writing and couldn’t stop. By the way, I was having a major case of writer’s block that day. I had a plan for the next chapter but I just couldn’t write it. Then, after responding to your review, I got an idea! I modified my plan slightly and then, I started writing like crazy. Yay!!! Thanks for the inspiration! I don’t like Dumbledore either. Not even in the books. Don’t ask me why. Even I’m not sure. Maybe it’s because he treats Severus’s sacrifice in such a casual way. I still have a long way to go on the next chapter and it’ll probably be another week before it’s completely finished. Thanks so much for your reviews and I definitely wasn’t offended!!
