It was probably a good thing that Minerva wasn't in the infirmary to see Harry's misery - she would have taken out the rest of Albus' silver instruments and possibly him, too. I liked the flashback to how she became Severus' protector.

Having Snape rescue Harry during the dementor attack is an interesting twist. At least he can't say Harry was faking the emergency.
At least Harry was caught after the Toad's detention. I just hope that it doesn't leave permanent scars and word gets back to Severus in a timely manner. Sure, detention in the first week is bad, but I hope that he lets Harry state his side first.

Good to see Harry has people around that care, but I'd be careful not to let Snape care TOO quickly, unless you don't mind him being out of character. Abused or not, he doesn't change his opinion about people quickly. Thank you for this chapter!
