Reviews For Harry Potter and the Secret Promise
Please, Severus don't let your blooming temper cut Harry out of your life. He has been hurt enough by men in his life. Don't you like him any more? Be a father, not a demon. Please do keep writing it after the cut-off in 2012. New Chapters 40 and chap.41 are on ffnet. under the same name and author. *Wails*, why are some of the most brilliant stories always unfinished? Sod's law. Hoping for a miracle, and that it still will be taken up again , those missing power jewels, and is Harry a baby-druid? What about Lady Av. giving Umbridge a bit of her own? A Dumdle seems to forget he is Merlin, when faced with that.. that pink blob. Ron might even come to like Malfoy...
She may be a powerful healer, but I am so ***** by their constant 'soothing' of Harry's true, honest feelings of despair, tears, rightful anger at all their pushing him around. By never letting him voice his fury, disgust, powerlesless and loneliness. By constantly sending streams of calm denial into him, don't they see, they are setting him up to be second generation Iron-face bitter, cold Harry Snape? With a lack of empathy and words to talk about his own feelings. Oh they want a son, but not the full, prickly, honest human boy, but an easy-to- live- with-for them- cardboard robot, that is not allowed to be true and vocal. God, they suck at having any empathy or psychological wisdom, and respect for what the boy is living through right now and in his lonely past. It makes me spit fire, and having had family members who also only accepted the 'cardboard easy girl,' Miss Arabella, what you are doing to Harry is the opposite of love. It is stifling, blinding, the real Harry - the poor boy wants so much to be accepted by Any adult, that he is willing to go along. Severus is the perfect picture of a adult that lost his inner boy.And no one ever let him find back to himself. She soothes him, all right, but she doesn't dare live together with the real pain-filled Severus,Some Wife! Arabella and Dumbledore are two peas in a pod.Manipulators that don't see their own games. And they are supposed to be Harry's family! This is not a positive story. it is hurtful to read, knowing the consequences of this maiming. Go smash some pottery, Harry and call them out on their behaviour. then, you can be soothed afterwards. To thine own self be true. It looks as if adults get to manipulate children without ever being told to desist. Lovely morale, that. True 'wuve'. I read this with stifled breath. Thank you for pulling open an old pain.
I've only recently discovered this archive, so I am enjoying finding a treasure trove of well-written, enjoyable stories such as this one. It was delightful to watch 'Darrius' and 'Livia' grow up, and the storyline has been excellent. One thing I did notice, however, is that your timing on the children's aging was extremely odd. Your author's note stated that they aged about a year/week, but they had gone back in time a year. I think it more likely, then, that they aged a bit more than a year/month - 365 days divided by 15 years comes out to one year per 24.3 days, so if you aged them one year every 24 days, they would be a bit over 15 at the beginning of the school year, as is appropriate if they were "born" in June, as Arabella told Narcissa. I look forward to seeing an email telling me that the next chapter's been posted. :) Keep up the good work!
