Ugh, that cliffhanger! I can just imagine Snape's response to that...probably trying to maintain a somewhat cool demeanor while inwardly freaking out. I feel like he's going to try to stealthily get to the bottom of the letter, maybe by questioning Flitwick, because I know Ariel is going to go to him for help with the letter. I don't know if I want Snape to discover the truth quickly or not...I kind of like the tension between him and Ariel. It's definitely an interesting dynamic. And Ariel has the trunk back now from Dumbledore...I can't imagine he left the vial with what I assume is the Obliviated memory from Snape. I think Dumbledore knows, hence the way he looked at Snape at breakfast. Enjoy your break (I'm also a teacher!), and thanks for the awesome chapter!

Author's Response: I always imagine Snape's inward reaction to something that takes him off guard like that episode of Spongebob when he forgets his name, and there's all the little Spongebobs inside his head screaming while everything is on fire. Ariel revealing something about him being the letter at the very end is interesting, because on one hand, Snape doesn't want to touch it with a ten foot pole, but on the other, he really, REALLY wants to know. He just doesn't know what he's in for... I'm enjoying writing the tension too, I wanted to be careful in not having the big reveal happen too early... having Snape and Ariel play this game of cat and mouse where they both think they're the opposite role is so fun. It's hilarious to see just how wrong they are about each other when I reread it, or plan out how they're going about this. It's the best part of writing, so far. I don't want it to end, but at the same time, Snape dealing with this fallout is going to be just as entertaining. He's such a hot mess express. As for Dumbledore, one of my absolute favorite parts about canon is that Dumbledore knows everything, but is purposefully obtuse. I mean, c'mon of COURSE he knows about Snape, but as for what's in that vial... well, we shall see! Kudos to you, fellow teacher! Thank you so much for the review! :)
