Well...this chapter had all the feels! Even though I know Ariel wasn't quite herself when she did it, I was still happy when she walloped Malfoy, lol. I like how you've crafted Ariel to be someone who is forthright with her emotions (for the most part). Her reactions to everything are exactly how I'd imagine they would be, with what she has/is experienced/experiencing in her life. Ugh, that last scene! So. Much. EMOTION! She's hurt (physically, emotionally), scared, angry, but mostly, I think she's confused. She seems to want more of a relationship with Snape, but I don't think Ariel really knows what that relationship should be like or look like...and Snape's certainly not helping in that department. But that hug? Well, that changes things a bit, doesn't it? Maybe Snape really is ready to truly start taking on more of a parental role. And can I just say that I am here for Ariel and her headband (lol)? I'm hoping our girl lets her hair grow out more...and I'm kind of hoping Lavender and Pavarti get their hands on her. Thanks for the update! I hope you keep at this story in the coming months, but totally understand if you don't get to it until June, fellow teacher ;)
Author's Response: Ariel is very much the antithesis of Snape and Lily in this chapter, whereas Snape is a bowl of murderous rage/guilt and tact, Lily is willing to stand up for what's right, but not take it too far. Ariel has murderous rage, and is willing to stand up for what's right, but has absolutely no tact/boundaries. So, we get Malfoy with his face smashed in (and he totally deserved it, the little attention seeking weasel).
Snape saw a lot of PANICPANICPANIC and it made him PANICPANICPANIC so we got... a hug? I think maybe he was trying to smother her to death, but I can't prove anything. I do think he's starting to accept his role deep down, but he's having a lot of trouble sorting through it.

What a great surprise! Please do not stop writing! I absolutely love this story and I regularly check to see if it has been updated and have read through it at least a dozen time. It is so unique and a really interesting story line. I think I will die if you were not to update until June *tear drop* Also I absolutely love love love your Snape, he is so packed with emotions and the way you portray him is *chefs kiss*. I really hope you choose to continue to post... I feel like this is just the turning point in there relationship and I am DYING to see more.
Author's Response: Thank you so much!! I didn't mean to scare everyone LOL I only meant it as a sort of "is anyone there? if not I'm gonna slow this ship down" and it's VERY after posting yesterday that no one wants that to happen, so I shall keep going!!!
Nicely written reconciliation. Now for the hard part of making it work in the long run.

I actually went and reset my password in order to leave you a review :) You mentioned how reviews keep you going and I don't think this wonderful story is getting enough visibility, and I just wish (hope) for you to keep writing.
I've been searching for a good female Harry story, and I love your writing style, especially including both POVs, and how you intersperse Snape's & Ariel's subconscious forcing its way into their conscious deliberations (especially when they don't want to/can't admit to/are scared of the truth). Also, a believable, bitter, angry Snape who curses like a sailor, with an incredibly dark sense of humor and biting sarcasm, is exactly how I think he would be if we were ever allowed a peek into his mind. I'm glad he's not losing his edge immediately with Ariel, and while it's heartbreaking to see Ariel's hopes get raised and dashed repeatedly, her struggle for his affection and his resistance (and his emotional damage) is so believable and you express it so well, it tugs on my heartstrings.
I love this chapter. "The Darkness", as Ariel calls it, is an awesome device and I cannot wait to see where it leads. I'm guessing it is Voldemort's remaining soul piece floating around... though Dumbledore's conviction that he can't get into the school is making me doubt. The insidious nature of it, stalking, and talking, to an 11 year old.... creeptastic. Can't wait for the next chapter!

Love this new chapter! I check everyday for an update on this story and I am glad you found the time. Literally cannot wait to see where this is going...waiting for the turning point in the story. I absolutely loved them brewing together and cannot wait to hear severus’ internal denial, its endearing
