Wow, sure wish someone would have done something like this in canon, but instead, Rowling chose to make accomplices of every. single. adult. --and even Ron, Hermione, and Neville-- in Harry's life! Her attempts to force the idea that this is NORMAL for her alternate universe: One that's "amazingly" identical to ours in all other aspects except for one: Child abuse, neglect, and bullying are systematically *ignored* and/or dismissed by the entire population; even close relatives and "best friends"!
*That* is what makes me want to projectile vomit whenever anyone brings up how much they "*love*" the HP books!
Really? Live through Harry's life! I predict that her next book(s) will be about how much abducted and sex trafficked babies and children really "love" their short, horrific lives. I wouldn't put it past her or Bloomsbury!

Lovely long chapter despite their being no Harry. I didn’t think of Neville being able to recognise the potions but that was so clever of you. I hope Tons and Kingsley find the evidence and raise a storm over the neglect and how Dumbledore ignored it.
I’m wondering how Umbridge will react to no Harry and Elias being in school. Thank you for your lovely story

Terrific chapter. I really like how Tonks is taking her sleuth work seriously, and piecing together the puzzle of Harry’s Muggle life.
Author's Response: Glad you enjoyed it! There will be more of Tonks in subsequent chapters and she actually has shown up quite a while ago though her part was quite glossed over but re-mentioned in her first one-off section in Chapter 18.

I absolutely love this nature competent version of Tonks you've created. People usually just make her this clumsy,.... Well, jester. Although I hope she doesn't cause problems with elias. Harry just wants to move forward and her digging could cause issues. But I'm also anxious cause she could figure out they abused the heck outta the poor kid and dumbledore would go down for telling everybody harry was being treated like a prince all that time. Snape really is a great father and I'm glad to see you bring that out of him. Glad draco and the slytherins are going to be looking out for him, though I didn't doubt it really. Poor elias, seizure on the first day and now people actually think he's a drunk. Even when he's not harry he can't get away from the stupidity of hogwarts students. Glad neville recognized the potions actually. It's evidence kinda caus no one would expect him of all people to help snape cover something up so neville knowing what they are is like a boost up to elias and snape's cover story. Awesome chapter as usual!
Author's Response: Yeah, Tonks is one of my favorite characters and it irks me to no end when people make her solely a clumsy person and forget that she didn't get her job as an auror for no reason. Hello?! They even go into some of the class requirements to get into the program in the books! Competent!Tonks is canon af. Just the passing the potions OWL/NEWT alone with Snape as the teacher for her entire school career should say something to that effect. I gotta say, Snape as a father is one of those things that could go either way. I prefer the "type A, almost overbearing, detail oriented" type but have utmost respect for anyone who can write any flavor of Dad!Snape. As for the drunk comment, kids make up rumors all the time. When you have the scary dad, you know those rumors aren't going to go far.
