I was glad that Rona turned up to help Snape with the potion. He may not have wanted to admit it, but he did need help. So he was tortured by Voldemort. No wonder he was missing so much at Hogwarts. At least he has people who care for him in New Zealand.
Burd Helen was a fun addition. I hope she turns up again. She is a change from the usual type of familiar or animal that is paired with Snape. Speaking of Snape, I wonder if he will be better soon? I don't think Harry will like helping an ill Severus.

I'm glad Harry has a new friend. That should make his time in New Zealand more pleasant. The scenes with Grandmother were fascinating. You described the location and the elemental really well. I was glad to find out more about Snape's background, too.
That was an interesting first chapter. Harry and Snape in New Zealand is a different concept. The townspeople sound like they have known Snape for sometime and he seemed comfortable with them. I wonder how long he has lived there? I especially liked the description of the countryside and the house.

Lots of fun to read. I like that you didn't let it get too mushy at the end. Thanks for writing.
It would have been amazing to stay and learn. The whole story was great, is there a sequel?

As someone who just returned from Aotearoa I'm thrilled to be reading a fic titled "Taniwha" - you don't know how excited I was to see it. Your portrayal of the people and scenery of New Zealand mountain towns is lovely and accurate.
