Besides the setting and the good characterisation (including supporting characters) what is great about this is the blending of folk-tale with the HP magic. On the one hand, you have the strange made familiar, where those who have grown up with these magics treat it as something normal; on the other hand, there are flashes of terror and wonder, brushes with things beyond human ken, legends walking the Earth.

This story is absolutely brilliant! I loved, loved, LOVED it! Your sense of humor is just amazing and left laughing breathlessly several times. Your writing is amazing, and I loved the mythology of this fic. And I've went crazy reading this in one sitting and it's very late so this review could probably be better, but I just wanted to thank you SO much for giving me such a great read!

“I believe that it would give the student body a collective apoplexy should I start a class by ‘getting down with my homies from the hood.’” OHMYGOD! That line just KILLED me! I went into a ten minute insane laughing fit, and just thinking about it now makes me chuckle again.
The whole "Snape needs coffee or everyone is doomed" thing also threw me into a laughing spree.
Lovely fic! I also love the Kea. I want a bird to help me out with my coffee in the morning ;)

This story is SO unique! I love "creation stories" in Native American culture, and this reminded me (where Rona is telling about the Taniwha and later young Snape) of traditional story-telling style. I've been trying to read some of the earlier stories on P&S, and this absolutely captivated me! Nothing was predictable, and although it ignored parts of canon (like the prophecy), the story in itself is so beautifully detailed and developed, not only in setting but also original characterization, that I just read it as separate from canon. Truly in a class by itself! Way to GO! (And there are SEQUELS! SQUEAL!!!!!!!)

So you know... horses don't molt. They shed. And ponies are not horses; they're built differently and ponies are lot more mean than horses.
Oh wow. Nice ending. I kind of hoped that he would end up with Snape taking care of him though, but at least he doesn't have to go back to the Dursleys.
Oh no! Poor Snape. I hope that they can make them understand that Snape was a spy. Oh, I hope Voldie doesn't take revenge against Snape. He's got no protection now!
Oh no! Voldie knows where they are!
Great chapter, Hope they'll all be safe.
Poor Harry. What an awful thing for Snape to say. I really hope that Snape softens up a bit eventually.
I loved this chapter. So much angst., and yeah Sirius!
I love the banter between Rona and Snape. Too cute. I love the parrot and I really enjoy how you incorporate humour with the seriousness of the story.
