Green eyes. Lily’s eyes.
I stop to catch my breath.
A fluttering can scarcely stir,
Then my heart returns to death.
He has no right to be here,
No right to have survived!
Not while my one true love
Will never ... can never be revived.
My heart loved only her;
She never knew the extent.
But then I turned her from me,
To my perpetual torment.
When she ceased to breathe,
My heart then ceased to beat.
For even having lost her love,
That she lived was my retreat.
Numb has been my broken heart,
Dead for countless days.
So why does it betray me now?
I ask, then return the gaze.
