Here On the Other Side of Time; Let Us Reconcile by blackpanther
Once upon a time
There was a lad
The friend of a maiden fair
Lily was her name
She was the most wonderful maid
Beautiful in every way
~oOo~
So brave
So full of joy and life
Vibrant, like sunlight
She enlightened my days
Even when
We went our separate ways
~oOo~
I never forgot her eyes, so full of promise and life
The day I first met her, they shone like emeralds
Dancing green lights
~oOo~
Her hair a veil of fire
Flames in her trail
~oOo~
But alas, we went our separate ways
Yet, I will never forget
And I cannot forgive myself
She died, struck down by light as green as her eyes
~oOo~
She sacrificed her life
But hailed and named
"The Boy-Who-Lived"
Her son survived
I remember the day he arrived
To haunt the halls of Hogwarts, my refuge, my domain
~oOo~
His hair was black like mine, like his Dad's
But he was not mine, although I many times
Wished he would have been
But, alas, his reflection was not mine
No, his face bore the likeness of another man
My nemesis from day one
~oOo~
But in his eyes, his eyes
Shone the reflection of her
My only love
A memory
of Golden Days
That once were
~oOo~
He never knew
Not until the very end
But his gaze
Made me brave
~oOo~
Through all the pain
His gaze
Ignited me to take a stand
He became
The Flame
~oOo~
Proclaiming that neither hate
Nor Death
Should prevail
Not have the final say
~oOo~
Not even my own hate
Although I must admit,
The pain of seeing
My lost maiden's gaze
In the mirror of James' face
Adding to my own regrets
It turned me in half
Darkened my heart and gaze
Until only pieces remained
~oOo~
But there is a crack in everything
That is how the light gets in
I tried, believe it or not
to leave the past behind
Although the bitterness made me blind
~oOo~
I admit, in many ways, I was a petty man, unfair and unkind
Unwilling, to see past my own lies
In my buried rage
Seeking revenge on a ghost from another time
That is my great shame
And I know my excuses are lame
~oOo~
But at least I tried
With all my might
To guard his life
By being a spy on both sides
~oOo~
Lily, I hope that makes amends
At least, I tried
Walking a thin line
~oOo~
But now, all that is a forgotten tale
Done is the play
I have left the stage
And passed the veil
~oOo~
But at least, I know there is peace
There, on the other side
I was there, at the final end
And when I died
We met one last time
~oOo~
His gaze met mine
Green met black and all was declared
My secrets revealed
Poured into a Pensieve
~oOo~
Like a peace-offering to atone
For all I have said and done
In the eyes of your son
I saw the promise of hope
Forgiveness and peace
And Life goes on
~oOo~
My Lily, I hope we too can reconcile
You may have been another's bride
Another man's wife
But forever you are my friend
In my heart you have remained
~oOo~
James, let us leave the pettiness and rivalry behind
Here on the other side
For the sake of your son and wife
For the peace of our minds
Here, where all is said and done
~oOo~
The curtain is down
The die is cast
Once and for all
Here, on the other side of time
Let us reconcile
~oOo~
The End.
