This is an old story that I am reposting here because I'd love to see this archive have a complete collection of Severitus Challenge stories. Here are some notes for context:
Canon-Compatibility: I worked out most of the plot for this right before OotP was released, and wrote it over the next 18 months. The only real inconsistencies with book five canon are that Moody and company did not read the riot act to the Dursleys at the beginning of summer, and Harry didn't get the Marauders' Map back. (Future canon, obviously, including most backstory, is out the window!)
Pairings: Various relationships exist or are referred to during the story, including M/F, M/M, and F/F pairs. There's no actual sex, just kisses, innuendo, and talk.
Rating: The story has little active sexual content, which has caused a few readers to complain that the rating is "misleading." That rating is for violence, smoking, mild use of recreational potions, and indirect references to past child sexual abuse (not Harry).

Canon-compliancy reminder: I started roughing out the plot to this shortly before OotP was released, although the vast majority of it was done after. Some things -- like Sirius dying, and the revelations in 'Snape's Worst Memory' -- made what I had planned work even better and helped fill out pieces I'd been uncertain about. On the other hand, I hadn't expected Harry to get the Marauder's Map back easily, if at all, after Crouch took it. Not having the Map was already important to a subplot of this story, and it only shows up briefly in OotP. So, I've left Harry and his friends without the map. ;-)
