Summary: Snape requires all his students to get a parent's signature on their potions report cards over the summers, and bring it back the first day of class in the fall as a way of making the parents aware of their children's abysmal results. Harry does not get his signed. What will the potion master do? Detention? Try to talk to the Durlseys?

Summary: *OC required* Snape somehow acquires guardianship of Harry at the beginning of first year. He is quite unwilling to take on the responsibility and tries to distance himself from his ward as much as possible. Reluctantly he meets with Harry once a month (outside of classes) in his office to access his needs and discipline. These meeting are meant to be tense. Snape is forced to take Harry with him home over one of the holidays (could be as soon as christmas, but also easter or the summer to give them a little more time). This is where the OC comes into play..Snape has a wife and is not happy to share her and his house with Harry. I picture quite a tense story with slow progress towards a good relationship. How Snape gets guardianship in the first place is up to you. Snape's wife can be nice or she can be a bit mean but hopefully grows fond of Harry. I also picture a Harry that is a bit more affected from life with his relatives and is unfamiliar with normal family dynamics. And it can be boy or girl who lived.

Summary: Harry is made the dueling champion in his 2nd year and is sent on a three week trip as a representative of Hogwarts to other wizarding schools. Professor Snape is assigned to accompany him. Let the fun begin..

Summary: Instead of catching the night bus the summer before his third year Harry gets on the muggle bus instead after grabbing one of Vernon's whiskey bottles on the way out. Never had a drink before he reacts rather badly and gets thrown off the bus.....at Spinner's End.

Summary: *Takes place any summer* Vernon has some problems at work and the Dursley's finances become a bit tight. They end up moving to Spinner's End several houses down from Snape. Vernon makes Harry get a summer job at local restaurant that Snape frequents, as well as odd jobs around the neighborhood to make the "family" some money. Snape runs into Harry several times...being locked out of the house at night while the Dursleys eat dinner, spending the night at the playground because he's locked out, breaking his back doing yard work, digging through the garbage cans at the restaurant to grab the old bread they throw out etc.

Summary: Takes place a couple years before Hogwarts. Vernon and Petunia leave on an extended vacation and Harry and Dudley have to spend the summer with Marge. She lives in the old Dursley family home not far away from where the Evans girls grew up, and of course not far from Spinner's End. Snape observes the boy appearing to be neglected wandering the streets at all hours of the day. What will he do?

Summary: Leading up to the triwizard tournament Dumbledore requires all students to have their swimming skills evaluated. Non swimmers must take lessons to learn. Guess which category Harry falls in? And the teacher, Professor Snape of course. Takes place end of third year or beginning of fourth. Lessons can be private or semi-private.

Summary: As a way to get Harry out of the triwizard tournament he is de-aged (physically and mentally). Professor Snape becomes his reluctant guardian, and must deal with both fear (from the Dursleys) and the rambunctiousness of a child in the castle. I have somewhere in the 5-8 year range in mind for Harry but any age would work.

Summary: Lily lives, but only for a few years (then character death, up to you how). When Harry is around 6 (age flexible, but must be pre hogwarts) she reconciles with Snape and they marry. Shortly thereafter she passes away and Snape is left with the boy. They do not get along. Harry is a bit spoiled, jealous and defiant towards Snape. Snape sees James in the boy, is scared of letting himself feel anything and is quite strict and reserved with his emotions. I'm picturing a darker story with a lot of angst/tension in their relationship. Snape is not abusive, but pretty close to it.

The aftermath of Lily's death could involve a period of Harry living with Petunia while Snape figures out what he wants to do. Before Hogwarts Harry must come back to Snape though. They reach a breaking point and it's decided that family counseling will be the best option.

Summary: Pre Hogwarts. Voldemort's followers discover where Harry resides and are able to get Tom's diary in Dudley's hands. He brings it home, quickly discards it, and Harry picks it up. It starts out as an innocent way for Harry to vent his feelings and play pranks on his family, but soon Tom makes suggestions of more sinister actions which Harry cannot remember doing. Dumbledore senses that there is dark magic at the house, but can't put his finger on what. He call on the potion master to take in the boy to investigate. Snape's patience wears thin as Harry's behavior varies from very timid (Dursley neglect/abuse) to outright evil (diary compelled), and then lies about it (memory lapses). Will he discover what is wrong in time?
