Response to the Potions and Snitches.net Fic Fest Challenge # 5 by Bil. Although I’m not sure it is completely compliant. I tried though.

Harry gets up one morning and begins to make breakfast (for the Dursleys, if that's where he is). Hearing a noise at the door he cautiously goes to investigate - to find a battered Snape collapsed on the front doorstep. What happened to Snape, why is he in Harry's neighborhood and what in Merlin's name is Harry going to do with him?

Ron and Hermione going out that's cool but what is not cool is them sneaking around and not telling Harry - why hide it. Worty may start thinking of Harry like a big brother who you can run to when you are in trouble and who will get you out of trouble. I think it’s great but the trouble that Worty is in right now, Harry taking the blame Worty just doesn’t just owe him one he owes him a life debt as Snape is going to kill him (this debt may come in handy later). If Worty was in Gryffindor I would say he would confess at the last moment, but he is in Slytherin so I think Harry is not going to make dinner at least he would be standing for dinner.

I've love this story from the first chapter of TAPtoGrow to this chapter I love the father/son rel between Sev and Harry, the brotherly rel between Draco and Harry and i see Worty falling into this category and the friendship that is growing with the Golden Trio and with Draco added. I think it will be a mistake to bring in slash (the little romance between Ron and Hermoine is enough and let it be kept to a minimum nothing graphic please) you could talk about normal teenage fears and feelings, possibly a crush or so but to bring in Slash would really spoil the whole tone of this story (esp if you were thinking Harry and Draco - if you want to do that then write another story)

It is amazing that when Harry was first being punished he actually started having hateful feelings towards Snape, not dad not Sev but Snape it was as if all their time together did not happen, Harry actually called him a cruel sadistic monster (because Harry knew he did nothing wrong – but clearly forgetting that Sev did not know this and that Harry himself had lied to him). But Sev realized that something was wrong, he knows his son, he knew that something was not right and I think that part of why Harry got spanked after is that he forced his father to severely punish him for something that he did not do and it made Sev feel like a monster. What Harry did in trying to protect Worty is accused Sev of being a monster and Harry almost made him become that… which is really not what their relationship has been – Sev has been a loving kind father to Harry and I am sure it broke Sev’s heart when he realized that Harry still thought of him like that. Harry does have a lot of thinking to do and when he does he will realize how much he has hurt his dad who loves him very much and he will admit that he deserves more than 30 with the hairbrush

Author's Response: I'm glad you saw it, too. I was afraid the argument between Snape and Harry was too confusing and convoluted, but you obviously got all the points I wanted to make. I will be writing more on this soon, hoepfully.

Glad to see you updated Sev and Harry's relationship is really going great more of a mixture of father/son and friends. Sev just loves to complain but if you look closely you would hear the pride and love, mixed with the worry.

During the summer before his third year at Hogwarts, Harry somehow ends up in a reality where Severus Snape is his father. AU, Sevitus — Includes Sirius!

This was so funny LOL I loved it, even Sev was laughing
I think Harry should tell them all about his second year at Hogwarts then they could stop everything from happening again

Harry has just returned from his first year at Hogwarts and, after a visit from a house elf, the Dursleys lock him up, vowing never to let him return to the magical world. Then a most unexpected person shows up: Severus Snape.

Glad to see this story back on, it’s really a good one. I love the growing relationship between Harry and Sev; right now Harry may see Sev as someone who took good care of him but not yet an uncle or even a father figure. I think the worry that Sev would have experienced when Harry was "missing" from the train and worse when he thinks of what may have happened with the Whomping Willow I think that Sev's view of Harry will change. Sev may soon realise that he cares much more for Harry than he ever thought - like a father caring for his son. A father is what Harry needs and Sev should step up to the task.
Sev must have a "talk" with Harry as soon as possible I would say the next day - Sev should give Harry his own punishment regardless of the schools punishment (I note that you don't have a CP warning but I think that it would be appropriate - but your story), by doing this it would make Harry realise that Sev is willing to be much more than a teacher to him and that he could look to the man to be a parent someone who would look out for him have his best interest at heart, protect him and discipline him when needed.

Author's Response: Wow, this is such an awesome review! And a lot of speculation and suggestion, I like it. ^_^ I can't really tell you what's planned for the next chap, but don't worry, I'm already writing it. XD

After Harry is caught for exploding a cauldron in 2nd year Potions, Snape insists he keep a firm hand on the boy he must secretly protect. However, he discoveres that there is more to the twelve year old than unruliness and disrespect. Similarly, Harry learns from and gains a new perspective of his professor.

Great the snake is dead, but for some reason i actually felt sorry for it (i know it had to die and normally I hate snakes) but for its size and age it really sounded almost simple in mind - it just follows what its master commanded, when harry told it not to move, it just said yes master and with trust complied not knowing harry was just setting it up to be killed – i felt sorry for it. Anyway the treat to the school is gone.
I noted that someone wrote about Gryffindor’s sword not having the Basilisk venom so how could it defeat the book – the sword is magical –it is the sword that actually destroys most of the horcruxes and i don’t think it was just because it was covered with venom it is powerful in its own right.
Can i make a plea for Severus to become Harry’s guardian please please please not just a mentor/teacher
Love this story and hate to see it end (sequel – year 3 ?)

    Author's Response:

I can see why readers would be confused about how the diary was destroyed, but to be honest, the whole issue with the horocruxes and the sword of Gryffindor is still rather sketchy.  We never found out about anything having to do with that until the 7th book, so there *could* be others ways of destroying the diary, I suppose.  I appreciate you keeping an open mind about the whole situation :)  Snape and Dumbledore open the next chapter, so you'll find out what happened.  But since this is only the CoS, Dumbledore still only has his suspicions about what Tom Riddle has done.  We, on the other hand, know more than he or Snape does.  It's an interesting form of dramatic irony that I never really though about until now...lol.  (I do that sometimes.)

I have thought about a sequel, but I don't have anything definite yet, so I won't make any promises in case I never get to it.  But I do promise that I'm thinking about it. ;)  Thank you very much for your thoughtful review!

I really enjoyed this story it was one which showed a beautiful relationship with a young boy and his mentor. I think that Sev loves Harry more than Harry's guardians ever would (I’m sure that Lily and James approve) and even if you don't do a sequel I could see Sev guiding Harry to become not only a powerful wizard but a wonderful secure young man
    Thank you for your story

    Author's Response:

Thank you for recognizing that Snape has affected Harry in a way that will carry with him through the summer. :)  In keeping this story canon-compliant, I felt that Snape would still respect Dumbledore's decision to keep Harry safe within the wards. Of course, if I write a sequel, things may very well change; however, I wanted this story to have a satisfying ending in case it ended up being a stand-alone story.

I appreciate all of your reviews you've submitted for Emerald Eyes :)  Thanks for reading my story, Keats!
