Hi, I'm Jan. :D I love Snape and Harry fics, and just mentor fics in general. I first started Potions and Snitches (P&S) as a safe place to find Snape & Harry gen fics without stumbling into Snape and Harry slash (aka Snarry, or HP/SS).

Fandoms that I like to read fanfiction of include: Star Trek, Star Wars, Kung Fu : The Legend Continues, Dragonball Z, Stargate SG1, Batman, Angel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. I like Gen and Mentor fics mostly. I love hurt/comfort, angst, whump, drama, raw emotions, and vivid descriptions best.

I know how to make and edit graphics, icons, and layouts (html and css). I am a master web searcher. XD

My dreams? One day I'd like to be able to run up a mountain effortlessly, or at least easily. :) I'd like to see Potions and Snitches host every single good Snape and Harry Gen fic there ever existed. I'd like to have people who post here get 100 reviews a chapter. I'd like active-to-the-bursting challenges and contests. I want the site to be a great, fun place that readers of Snape and Harry fics loved and knew as active.

    Yay! New chapter! I've missed this story. I liked how Harry didn't want to take the pain medication. I liked how muddled his thinking was, both before and during and afterwards. I want hot chocolate. Nice chapter! :)

    P.S. Did you know that you can use horizontal rules (the lines) here?

    Author's Response: :) I'm glad that you liked it! hehe... to be honest I didn't know you could use rules on this site... eh, maybe this weekend on my day off I will fix things. I dunno, I'll probably forget, lol. I'm just happy that the story is finished and that I still like it when I read through it. :D

    Wow, this is so good. Harry's desperation and single mindedness on surviving was so sad, the fact that he would go back to his cupboard without a word or protest for a bit of toast and a glass of water... the poor boy. I LOVE how you have Snape being neutral, we can't really know what he is thinking. Very nicely done. I think that that is one of my favourite things about this story- that we don't know what Snape's motives are or what he's thinking at first.

    Author's Response: You know what I hate in fics like this is when the writer makes it so that Snape is really sympathetic straight off. I highly doubt that a man like Snape would ever act like that. He's quite cold in my opinion, and I think that he'd take time to begin to act like he has a bit of humanity in him. I think he would like to believe that it isn't there, but I wouldn't let him do that forever, hehe. :)

    :) Lovely chapter. I love how mysterious Snape is, it's so scary actually and a wonderful version of his character to have. you have some wonderful descriptions. I would have added another line before "This time he would not fall back asleep. He wanted to be aware of what was going on." in the beginning because it didn't show any passage of time. I love your interpretation of the interaction between Harry and Snape. Wonderful.

    Author's Response: You know that's why I love fanfics. In reality (if they were real people) it would be so hard to force them to work together (or whatever) without having major problems (whether emotional or actual fist fighting). In my fics they never really like each other (like they wouldn't want to hang out together), but they aren't ever going to punch one another... they'll just scream and throw glares back and forth ;) (just kidding... sorta)

    I love the end of this chapter. Poor Harry. Poor poor boy. You should probably work on the dozing off in the tub part- it left me in the transition and I was exited from the fic a little while I tried to get what happened in my mind straight. The... I don't want to say manipulation but the uncertainty and dynamics between Snape and Harry is missing. It used to be here so maybe you should look at your notes and try to get that terrifying 'what's-Snape-going-to-do-next" feeling back.

    Author's Response: Poor Harry indeed, but I love to torture him. Whether I'm writing or reading a toture fic it's always kinda fun to see Harry struggle (as long as he comes out ok in the end of the story).

    Awwww... that was so sweet! :) I really enjoyed it. The giggling and afterwards snugglefest was a little too fluffy without back story but it was still a joy to read. I love how Snape tackled Harry to the ground and stuffed snow down his shirt. XD And Dumbledore watching was sweet. This line: "Harry felt his lips quirk. “Play with me,” he requested simply." was really my favourite. Lovely story!

    Ah great first chapter! :D At first I was afraid when Harry got that owl- I'm very paranoid but I gues sthat Harry assumed that only the Order knew where he has or something. I LOVED the fact that Snape sent Harry his broomstick back. it's a very interesting comparison because the broomstick WAS a gift from Sirius. I loved the note that Snape wrote. The part that you added on about the owl leaving despondantly was so good- brilliant imagery as just a side event. Loved it and it added to the mood so well- I want to hug that owl!

    It was alittle weird how Harry just put his broom on a shelf in his closet/cupboard because at first I was imagining it being placed sideways and it is a broom! A long broom and it made me think about how Harry put his broom in his trunk for all those years. o.O But I guess that the shelf was the bottom one and Harry stood it upright.

    Okay grammer and random stuff: This sentence: "People are always saying how much he, Harry, is like his dad." had the wrong tenses. It should be "People were always saying how much he, Harry, was like his dad." Also, having Harry in the shower/loo while the rest of the household did their morning absolutions was a little strange as British houses usually don't have that many bathrooms- if Dudley wakes up and plays videogames in his room without leaving at all I suppose that it would be okay. This sentence: "His other exams were okay, too, but those weren’t most important to him." was a little odd as right after it you told us exactly what Harry got in "his other exams". The Sirius and Snape thoughts that Harry had were done well, not amazing but you managed to coast through them without making me feel ill from having to read about them again (everyone has to use them) so well done. Haha and I LOVED how Vernon pushed a note through Harry's bedroom door. That was a great bit of humor to leave the chapter on. Well done! I think that I'll give you a 7/10. (Oh and you had a typo "they least his uncle could have done was to tell him personally to “come down for breakfast.” should be "the")

    Hey! Where's the rest? lol. I was expecting a second chapter at least. Oh well. :) *twiddles thumbs* Ah just so that you know, sometimes the archive will take a 5/10 or a 6/10 and make it be 2 frogs. It's a harsh rating system I suppose but then again, all the stories on the archive are pretty much fantastic so we needed something real to be able to differentiate otherwise we would have nothing but 4 or 5 chocolate frogs and then that wouldn't mean anything. I guess a really bad story would have half of a frog. haha. Nah, I don't think that we will have any stories like that. Anyways, I think that Starangel was just giving you a 5/10 or a 6/10 and was waiting to read more before passing real judgement. La la laaaaa I'll be waiting for chapter 2! :)
