Hi, I'm Jan. :D I love Snape and Harry fics, and just mentor fics in general. I first started Potions and Snitches (P&S) as a safe place to find Snape & Harry gen fics without stumbling into Snape and Harry slash (aka Snarry, or HP/SS).

Fandoms that I like to read fanfiction of include: Star Trek, Star Wars, Kung Fu : The Legend Continues, Dragonball Z, Stargate SG1, Batman, Angel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. I like Gen and Mentor fics mostly. I love hurt/comfort, angst, whump, drama, raw emotions, and vivid descriptions best.

I know how to make and edit graphics, icons, and layouts (html and css). I am a master web searcher. XD

My dreams? One day I'd like to be able to run up a mountain effortlessly, or at least easily. :) I'd like to see Potions and Snitches host every single good Snape and Harry Gen fic there ever existed. I'd like to have people who post here get 100 reviews a chapter. I'd like active-to-the-bursting challenges and contests. I want the site to be a great, fun place that readers of Snape and Harry fics loved and knew as active.

    Fantastic, just lovely. I love how Snape knew that Harry needed help - did wards or an alarm alert him? Because he was on patrol?

    I'm so glad that Snape was able to talk some sense into Harry. It didn't fix everything but it was a start. I'm glad he didn't suggest Harry go to the Headmaster for help. I think Dumbledore might of made it worse.

    Very intruiging premise. Who are all these other children? How did they come into Snape and Regulus' possession? There was one line that mentioned a mom when the left the house through the floo, but no descriptions of her or how she fits.

    I must admit that I like the idea of Harry knowing the things that he does. I at first thought that maybe Harry had much younger siblings, like five-year-olds or something.

    The wand cores are really unique, maybe a little too unique. Or would all children who went to get wands from this wand maker get wands just as unique and hard to procure?

    I do like the idea that Snape made sure to remove the trace on the children's wands. I wonder if they do that on a Wizard's 17th birthday or if the charm just works on anyone below the age of 17.

    I'm interested to learn more. And just what did Quirrel need to talk to Snape about?

    Author's Response: Some of your questions will be answered in Chapter 2, while the others will be answered throughout the rest of the story. And as for the mother, as of now, she is currently a mystery. The children and adults alike that visit Jürgen to get their first wand or a new wand get wands with cores just as unique as the ones the children got. Some wizards and witches prefer wands with more...shall we say, exotic cores than the normal cores that have been introduced to us in the series. The types of cores that Jürgen works with are known to give the caster a small boost, depending on the type of spell they're using. I have always thought that trace would just vanish once the wizard or witch turns 17. It also would make sense that the wandmaker would be able to remove the trace of a wand if asked, but most wandmakers would ask questions as to why they would want the trace removed from their children's wands.

    Nice chapter! I loved Draco and how he wanted to be friends but couldn’t really say that in front of Crabbe and Goyle.

    And Draco, not Neville, fell into the lake? Poor kid. I hope this version of Draco is more humble.

    And did I read it right that Percy is a member of Slytherin?

    Interesting story so far! I love that all the kids are getting along, more or less.

It was strange, to say the least, to see it in a child so young, suffering so much.

A child whom Severus and the majority of the wizarding world had thought to be a spoilt prince with a heart beating contemptibly.

Severus hated being wrong.

Harry Potter is sorted into Slytherin, which automatically makes his problems Severus' problems. Like, more so than usual. Severus, being the ridiculously responsible professor that he is, has an important discussion with the boy.

    Cute oneshot. Alternating meekness and snarkiness is an intruiging characterization of Harry.

    I like how Snape shared his own scars with Harry. I bet Snape does grow to like Harry eventually.

“What— What are you doing?” To his credit, he manages to pull the child to a full stop by yanking him back, bringing him in closer to hold his shoulders again and glare at him in the eyes, no matter the way he winces at their familiar colour. “You are aware that you have just undergone a panic attack, are you not?”


There’s something in Potter’s eyes that seems to flash at that, but it’s gone within the moment. Severus files that away for later ruminations.


“I know,” he says matter-of-factly, like he’s just declared that the sky is blue.

    Fabulous! Haha, Harry is like a miniature Snape! Except Snape as an eleven-year-old no doubt was more childish and full of wonder with Lily at his side.

    Interesting house placement. I guess Harry is very serious and bookish. Maybe efficient. I wonder what made him that way.
