“At least my dad wasn't a bully like you!” The moment the child shouted those words, something inside Severus snapped. Not a bully? James Potter not a bully?

I had to laugh when Sev missed the chair though and ended up on the floor! Will you expand on this? Continue it, I mean? It has such potential and while it's great as a oneshot, I would REALLY like to read more! If you can do this well with a sinle chapter, I'm sure the rest would be just as great. Anyway, thanks for the great read! :) Author's Response: Thank you, and thanks for the compliment on the memory. I just couldn't picture Snape ever willingly showing anyone that 5th year memory, ever, so I decided to make up something less traumatic and hope it turned out okay. I'm also glad you think I stayed in character. I was a little worried about Snape, especially at the end when he was being nice. He can be a tough one to write sometimes. No plans to expand right now. If an idea strikes me later, then... perhaps. Thanks again for the awesome review! Just a random little drabble for the challenge Oh, the Fanfics You'll Write! Just written about some key points in Harry and Severus's life and how things could have been different.

When the Dursleys abandoned Harry in the Hut on the Rock, he never could have foreseen how his dire predicament would lead to the fulfillment of his birthday wish for a different, better life.

I think the way you wrote Harry was excellent. It's more how I pictured him to be and I really enjoyed every moment of this story. I was astounded when Vernon actually shot Hagrid, and I shared Harry's sadness with the one owl Vernon did hit. The suspense with Vernon aiming the gun at Harry, and wondering if Harry would send his message with an owl before Severus found him...well, it was very intriguing. I am not sure exactly what to say, as this entire story was simply a wonderful read and I enjoyed it a great deal. I imagine you're being pestered for a sequal, and I too would agree, however even if you don't decide to bless us with a continuation, I think you've still done a great job. I thought it wasn't complete, when I reached the end of chapter ten...it didn't feel like an ending and I wished there was more. Even so, thank you for sharing this because I am so glad I came across it. I love this story and the way you wrote it was so refreshing. Thanks! My favourite parts where the whole "turning salt water into sea water", the fact Harry saw Snape in the papers before he met him and decided he would be his favourite teacher, the way the Dursleys were punished through karma rather than an unrealistic means from Severus, and the fact Harry aimed his mother's wand at Snape rather than elsewhere. I really loved the humour as well! Anyway, keep up the awesome writing! Author's Response: Hi! Sorry for the delay-- I do try to respond to each and every one of my reviewers because I value the fact that they actually take the time to tell me what they think of my stories! I just hadn't expected a new review on an older story! // I had not intended to write a sequel, but I left this story open-ended, just in case... And YES-- poor Hagrid! I think that must have been the most shocking moment, but Vernon DID have the shotgun, and I couldn't actually let our fave half-giant die, after all! // I appreciate the comment you made about originality-- it's hard to think what HASN'T been done in HP fics, but it feels good to have someone tell me that I hit on a new and original angle. // Absolutely, one of my fave things was the pic of Snape in the Prophet-- I loved giving Harry the opportunity to build up an admiration before Snape could have a chance to cut him down, as he'd originally intended. By the time they met, they were each willing to interact positively! Thanks for reading & reviewing! Regrouping after Ginny is severely injured, Harry goes on a mission for Minerva and discovers that Snape is alive, is living as a Muggle with no memory of his magical life, and has a daughter Lily's age. A fun & sentimental journey to bring Severus home.

I couldn't comment on a favourite part of such, as the entire story itself feels complete. The ending, though I would have liked Ginny to be more of her old self, was simply perfect. I loved the final lines. So thanks again for sharing this story! :) Lily has survived the attack that Halloween night and Severus sees this as his opportunity to make things right with her. He would worry about the Potter brat later. If only it were that simple . . .

I was a bit confused when chapter 1 ended with Snape taking toddler Harry to the castle, and then chapter 2 it was many years later. However, I understood quickly and you told the story very well so far. I am looking forward to seeing where this story is going. I also despise Quirrel! Ugh, evil git. I like that Snape is making more effort, though I see his reasoning otherwise and you've kept them very realistic to the situation. I also really enjoy the interactions between Harry and Draco (the throwing under a bus comment was so IC and hilarious!), plus not making Ron a total "well you're in Slytherin so I hate you now" git. The Hermione scene with Snape was nice too, and her being friends with Harry in general. I wonder, who is the 5th room-mate of Harry's or is there none? I only counted 4. I also like that Alice and Frank survived, if I got that right? I'd be cool to see their interactions with Harry too. How did Sirius get out of Azkaban, was it Lily's doing in hid defence? Also, poor Harry with what Sev told him when he was 4. :( Keep it up, and I look forward to reading more! Author's Response: My reasoning with Sirius was that when Lily woke up she almost certainly would have revealed that it was Pettigrew and NOT Sirius who was the secret keeper which would have effectively exonerated him. I plan to bring Sirius into the mix later. Maybe over Christmas break or maybe sooner. My theory behind keeping Alice and Frank alive was that there would be a sort of ripple effect from Lily surviving and Severus having such an investment in the good side. This ripple effect will also affect the outcome for Draco and a couple of other characters. The problem I'm having is that the scope of the story is SO big. I keep wanting to do back story but I have so much going on in the present that it's difficult. Maybe I should have written it straight through and not jumped time? But preteen Harry was in my head, lol. I'm THINKING that while Harry is recovering from his ordeal would be a really good time to do my flashbacks since there is going to be A LOT of Lily-Severus interaction with maybe some Sirius thrown in. Haven't decided about that. It's going to be a major blame game. And I'm glad that you enjoyed reading Harry and Draco. I have enjoyed writing the two of them. They're total frienemies, though I don't think they have that word in the wizarding world, hehe. I have a lot planned for Draco. Thank you so much for your detailed review. :) Harry is trying to move on after a loved one’s death. Entry in the 2012 Prompt Fest. Prompts: thunderstorm, buttons in a jar

I don't know who "she" was but it doesn't matter, because the way you told the story with hints yet no actual background in how they got to that point, what happened, or show she was, it all fit together as though I knew these facts already. You did a wonderful job with the story, the characters, and the message you were getting across about lost loved ones. It was sweet and I thank you for a lovely read. Author's Response: Thank you so much for the review! In which Voldemort’s plans are upset, Severus is annoyed, and Harry has a new career goal. There is also a kitten, because kittens are cool. Author's Response: Thanks WaterCrystals. Coming from one of my favorite writers, that means a lot.
As for this chapter, I love the idea! I was wondering where the de-aging was going to come into it, and Snape's plan sounds really intriguing. Certainly a different way for him to find out more about Harry's life and such, rather than simply being invisible and so on. Loving this story so far and am off to read the next chapter! Author's Response: Thanks again. I'm glad that you're enjoying it.
Author's Response: I'm glad you liked the thought of him caring about the fairy creatures and dealing with wizard-customs. :-) |
