Author's Response: Thank you again. I was hoping that the whole "not knowing" would come across well. I'm glad that it has.
Author's Response: Thatnks so much for all your comments. I wanted to leave it a bit vague as to whether Potter had noticed or not. :-D Harry goes somewhere to remember the past. What he doesn’t know yet is how hard the past will hit him. Entry in the 2012 Prompt Fest. Prompts: as darkness fell, What are you doing here?

Then Severus came into it and I really liked the nicknames given. I liked the entire story and the usage of quotes/phrases was very well blended and a nice addition. Overall, I think this one-shot was very deep and yet natural, like the way night becomes day...it started out sad, and shadowed, and then there was light and a sense of renew. If that makes any sense to you :P. Anyway, thanks for sharing and I think you did a very good job! Author's Response: Well, I thought to use nicknames because I had to convey some familiarity between Harry and Severus without necessarily being on first name basis at first. I like things to be subtle (sometimes I do not achieve it). Mind you, in my mind, their nicknames have always been there. I don't know why but most of the time, when I'm writing something the quotes come up in my mind and I feel the story is incomplete without them. I read a lot and I really enjoy the complexity of the lyrics of power metal so in many ocasions the music helps me come up with ideas, or plots. I totally get what you mean. As I said before, I wrote most of this fic the day my dog died (can you guess what day was it?) and it was some sort of catharsis. At that time, I only thought of the loss I had experienced and the future seemed grim and clouded. Yet, like in (with?)many more times before, I found solace in the music I heard, and I decided to finish the story like I feel it works out in life. (I don't know if I made myself clear... sometimes I want to express many more things but my vocabulary fails me XD) Anyway thanks for the feedback it means a lot to me when an author I admire replies to something I wrote. Little Harry was rescued from the Dursleys by his Daddy, but not all of their lessons are easily forgotten. Entry in the 2012 Prompt Fest. Prompts: It slipped from his grasp and shattered, Fight or flight.

Author's Response: And thank you for reviewing! I appreciate it. :) Everything might have to come down to him, but that doesn't mean he will be alone, not even in the darkness of night.

A happy-ever-after for Snape and Harry. Starts first day of term in Harry's second year, although he has spent all summer at Privet Drive and had no problems getting on the train to Hogwarts. Entry in the 2012 Prompt Fest. Prompts: slippery when wet, a surprised squawk

Anyway, nice story and a good reason, so thank you ! Author's Response: No you didn't miss anything - just me not conveying clearly what was in my head. I always think a Snape who survives deserves a family though, and as this was a "happy ever after" I gave him the chance! Thanks for the review. Sometimes, everything is as it seems. Other times, nothing is what it appears. Harry spends every summer with his relatives, Hermione goes home to her muggle family, and they both hate Draco Malfoy. Except none of this is true. The truth lies in secrets, secrets that are buried so deeply that life is often…Imperceptible. entrant into the 2012 prompt fest. Prompts: We all fall down, Time was running out.

Other than that, this was a really interesting set-up. Though short, I liked that it was mostly from Ron's POV. It was suspenseful enough that I knew something was going to happen, without really getting a hint as to what. Off to read more...
This entire chapter made me sad for Harry, and for Severus. I'm not sure I agree with what Severus did to the Dursleys, as surely magic would have been detected as being used there? Either way, it's the Dursley's own fault! I did like how he made it so it would seem that Harry is still living there, I'm interested as to what other would think if they realise the'd been tricked all those years. Karma, Dumbledore. Off to read more, of course...I'm already hooked.
"Harry stood there. He wanted to say something. He wanted to tell his Dad to be safe. But, Severus had been too fast." This is a powerful sentence. I think it said a lot, and I felt sad for Harry. Ugh, Dumblefore, again. I simply adore Lucius and Narcissa when they're not evil and whatnot. I also loved that it was Lucius who comforted Harry first by rubbing his back, rather than Narcissa. We don't normally get to see a side like this to him. I found it amusing that when Harry said Ron saw them, the first thing Draco asked was "why where you at Saint Mungos?". And Draco making a mission to kill Dumbledore was amusing too, in a sadder way though. Awww, love the framed picture. And the words around the frame too. I wonder who was at the door though...Dumbledore, maybe? Good chapter!!
I love the bit about Snape's eyes! It's so fitting, and sooo true, I reckon. Because his expression doesn't reveal much, but his eyes might. Is Dumbledore really that bad? It's like they're trying to keep the Dark Lord out, not a Headmaster of Hogwarts. Though, if it covered up what James did than I suppose it's not much different to commiting an evil act by his own wand. I think the spacings are a bit off, as in they're too wide and is a little confusing at times as it's like a sentence gets cut off and then continues after a big space. It's not too big a deal, just something I noticed and think it would be easier to read without that. Harry's right, it sounds really hard what he and Hermione had to do to keep up acts like that. I'd be a bit angry too. Aww :( feel sad for Draco, not having friends and being so doubtful. Oooh ominious final line! I hope everything turns out okay... |
