As Harry enters his sixth year at Hogwarts, Voldemort's lengthening shadow stretches across the wizarding world and Harry is tormented by the knowledge that he alone can end this reign of terror. - You had me laughing out loud as the letters literally flew back and forth between Harry and Snape! And then the competition between Mercury and Hedwig to be the first to deliver to Snape!!! Absolutely love this chapter! And seriously, given that the story this far has been pretty tense, it was great to get an opportunity to have some light-hearted fun before the grind begins again. 😁

- POWERFUL!!! Not a false note throughout! I kept bracing myself for the backstory to go away, but it never did -- it kept building and building into an incredibly solid structure, and I'm absolutely delighted with the ending between Harry and Snape! Now, on to the finale...

- Fabulously hilarious scene with Ryan! I never guessed his secret, so the revelation was quite a trip! Really glad that Harry gets to spend time with Remus, and A SEQUEL!!! -- am trying to imagine how many different monkey wrenches Snape can throw into a single summer! Thank you so much for such a terrific story. I'm not sure how I missed this all those years ago, but I'm so glad to have finally read it through, in just two days, no less. Talk about a page turner! Way to GO! 😺

- I really liked the progression of Snape's emotions throughout the story. Also, given his fear of spiders (a "spy" who's afraid of "spi"ders!), it baffles me how he could shove Harry back in the cupboard with them, although I had to smile at Snape undoing Petunia's handiwork! And then, being sensitive enough not to distress Harry over the "friend" he'd brought along. Lovely story!
As Harry comes of age, he must discover the secret of how Voldemort cheated death and find a way to defeat this evil once and for all. Along the way, he will have to contend with Death Eaters, shadowy Ministry officials and suspicions that threaten to tear his own allies apart. And he will need to delve farther than ever before into the mysteries of the mind where victory can only be won by freeing the chained souls.

- Whoa! The moor cottage scene was INTENSE! I was dreading what might happen, how they could possibly get away... 😳 And how many MORE times Harry can actually escape relatively unscathed. Definitely has more lives than a cat!

- Utterly beyond awesome!!! That goes for the story as a whole, which never failed to explore aspects of canon in an entirely new light -- you really make your audience re-see what we already knew, and you brought us along on an amazingly-detailed ride! - What a page-turner!!! And I kept turning and turning and turning, like the Energizer bunny on steroids!!! There were so many times I planned to review a chapter, but I was so caught up in the action that I just HAD to read on, to find out what happened next! So here is sort of an all-in-one review at the very end: What I found utterly astounding was your incredible imagination and the intricate details you piled one upon another (like Harry building his Occlumency walls!) to construct one of the finest fanfics I've ever read! I KNOW I'll be rereading this in the future -- maybe then I can rein in my enthusiasm to leave reviews along the way! But having reached the end... You never stopped surprising me with originality, both in your own plots, as well as unique approaches to Canon. When Harry finally got into Voldemort's DARK MIND -- which we'd all been waiting for -- the scene with the writhing snakes blew me away! And that's just one example! (There are, oh... maybe a thousand others...) I truly enjoyed reading "O Mine Enemy" (from Snape's long, pale fingers coming through the Dursleys' mail slot to the guardianship scroll that he snatched up to satisfy his curiosity beneath Dumbledore's knowing smile... Always unexpected twists and turns, evocative imagery, and a loyal friend in Hunter -- the description of him nudging Harry's wand along... GENIUS!!! Well ... back to real life... But THANK YOU for such a lengthy read, and for the inspiration to keep writing, writing, writing my own stuff! 😺🐢
Harry receives a very special gift on his 16th birthday that leads him to the help he needs...Snape is finding respite from his growing pressures and discovers one in need of help. Despite himself, he finds he CAN grow close to another living being. Only..."everything would've been so much simpler if it'd actually been a cat"...

- I began reading "Shadow" in French on fanfiction.net last year and fell in love with it! (I'm up to chapter 25 in French.) it's great to see an English translation on P&S so that even more readers can enjoy the story! I especially love the characterization of the cat, and the way you have of putting your audience into his mind, seeing the world from Shadow's point of view! (Also, I hope you don't mind, but your writing was the inspiration for my pen name: I was reading about Snape speaking to the cat "en sa voix shadowienne", and I realized I'd found my pen name! Merci!)

- This chapter has a bit of everything in it! My favorite parts were the wonderfully-detailed Green Room, and Harry's fire-whiskey rambling to Remus! I always read each chapter in French first, then check the English translation to make sure I got the full meaning (I'm usually about 90% accurate!), but even in French, I was laughing in HYSTERICAL HORROR as Harry confronted Remus! That was TERRIFIC! And the wonderful green tail reappears! Excellent!!!
Author's Response: I must admit that I had a lot of fun writing this chapter, both because I loved the idea of the room and because imagining everyone's face during Harry's rant was just oo funny! mwahahaha, I'm kind of evil sometimes!
