About me:

Greetings from Virginia! I began reading Harry Potter fanfiction in 2006, and P&S is my favorite site by far! As a writer, I just hope that my readers will enjoy my stories. I always appreciate it when people take the time to leave a review!

My hobbies include reading (of course!), quilting, Star Trek (TOS being my fave series), and I've recently begun studying Esperanto online.

I love cats, although I no longer have my own. But 26 cats have shared my life since I was a young child, and I have a plethora of wonderful, zany, and sometimes bizarre memories! (During the pandemic, I discovered a wonderful YouTube channel in Turkey--if you are a cat lover, please check out the "walter santi" YouTube channel and prepare to fall head over heels with numerous cats, plus Walter the dog! Santi is the white indoor cat.)

Alan Rickman is forever in my heart. 🐢

Very interesting story! I would be glad to read any continuation, if you decide to update/finish "Cherokee Camp", but I'm pleased that this chapter ended on two high notes: Draco finally starting to climb out of his deep well of despair, and Harry going beyond his deep-seated need for revenge. Also, Harry finally starting to communicate with the Weasley's after his (and their) dreadful loss of Ron. Thank you for interesting twists and turns, and your handling of Severus' vulnerable state is masterful. (Tas!!!) 😊

What if Voldemort had marked Harry intentionally? Arousing the anxieties of either side desperate to claim him for its own, Potter could care less about their power struggle--until fate plays sleight of hand to his expectations, forcing the young street magician to take a personal interest in the outcome...

Whoa, MAN!!! My hair was standing on end during the graveyard scene!!! This story popped up as Story of the Moment, and I'm glad I decided to click on it! I should come back & read this chapter on Halloween... 🎃 Definitely different!

Harry Potter has lost his memories...and gained those of a different Harry. One that knows too much. And it scares Severus Snape. …so who is Rowling?

Intriguing start! I'll look forward to seeing how the story develops!

Dudley and Harry flee Vernon - to Severus. A different Tom Riddle, Petunia is good. Lucius and Draco are helpful. Albus is a bit misguided. The twins are only a year older than Harry, so I can make them non-Gryffindor.

I've been thoroughly enjoying your story, particularly the unique twists and turns in the approach to the characters themselves! I did wonder about the reference to "Briarfrost" (in the paragraph where Harry is eating strawberry shortcake)-- Did I miss something earlier that would explain the name, or was that your original name for Dragonsrest? Just curious! Thanks!

Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed the story, I posted that particular chapter at 2 AM and didn't realize that I hadn't noticed the slip up on Dragonsrests' name - Briarfrost is a name in my other story on fanfiction, and I had confused the two. (Thanks for pointing it out.)

It really raises the question about Kreature's nasty personality: Was he always that mean-spirited, or was that due (at least in part) from his long association with the locket Horcrux? In canon, I just assumed his extreme loyalty to the portrait of Mrs. Black had twisted him in some way, but showing Dung's realization that the locket might be affecting him somehow, I began to wonder. We saw it in canon with Ginny and the diary, and here with Hermione & Lockhart and Rowena's diadem. Oddly, I never made any connection with Kreature and the locket until I read this chapter -- and he'd been SLEEPING with it in his nest! Probably gave him some uber nightmares! Thanks for giving me something new to think about! 😁

After a series of tests to discover why Harry's magic has become erratic, a secret is revealed, one hidden for over fifteen years. But not all secrets disappear without consequence, leaving Severus to learn that potions cannot heal everything.

P'cahn is my favorite kind of pie (tho' I avoid it until my willpower finally caves in)! I imagine it to be a Southern cousin of Harry's treacle tart! Once, some woman working at the Dairy Queen drive-thru kept trying to CORRECT my pronunciation of "pecan": she wouldn't fill my Blizzard order when I said "p'cahn" & kept trying to force me to say "PEE-can"! / MAN!!!-- I was practically holding my breath by the end of this chapter, and THEN Severus didn't even get to the Ministry! Guess I'll BREATHE while waiting for you to update! ;-)

    Author's Response:

Yes, please breathe while you're waiting. Sev will learn some very interesting things at the Ministry. I hammered out the details of Harry's parentage the other day with my friend, and I must admit I'm excited to see how it'll go over.

Your Dairy Queen story reminds me of the first time I went to DQ after moving to Alabama, though we went inside. I ordered a medium cookie dough blizzard with extra cookie dough and no chocolate sauce. Fine, right? Well apparently this Yankee speaks too fast. After the third time, I slowed it down like super slow, and I must say that they did make my blizzard right.

Whoa!!! And WHOA again! Just finished chaps 24 & 25; think I held my breath all the way through both of them again! (Think of me as your blue-faced fan! ;-D !!!) Actually, the chapters weren't too long to read, and that's from someone who doesn't have a computer! I'm reading on my pay-as-you-go mobile internet cell phone, which can handle about 7,000 words without wide-screening the text. (WITH wide-screen, I get 13-14,000 words, but I gotta scroll back & forth across every line of text!) You're doing fine with length-- great, detailed development is what I live for! /// I just read all the reviews for 24/25, wondering if anyone else had commented on something that seems to be missing: I had assumed that when Severus Prince went to the Ministry, he would be dealing with the medical proxy situation, making sure to give Severus Snape permission to make medical decisions for Hadrian via the proxy. The other details (the waiting room, the lock box, the letter, etc.) were handled beautifully, but I kept ***

    Author's Response:

Okay let's see if I can remember the other review, so I can review them at the same time.

Yes, please breathe. It's essential for functioning. ;) I do need to deal with the new legal issues the revelation brought up. Although now it's easier since Severus does have full parental rights. He really doesn't need to do anything in regards to that, but a new set of forms may need to be signed. It won't be dealt with next chapter, since the Order meeting will take up the whole chapter if not part of the one after that, too, but I'll be sure to address that soon. A super, extra thanks goes to you since I know how much of a pain it can be when it comes to typing on a cell. :)

*** wondering about the proxy and what would happen to Harry if the Ministry decides to countermand Snape's orders regarding the chemo (even if the Ministry didn't realize that the patient in question is actually Harry Potter). Hope that gets dealt with in the next chapter! /// Sorry for the 2-part review: my cell phone had issues with the length of my commentary! GREAT WRITING ON YOUR PART! I'll look forward to the next chapter! (& now I'll give my poor thumbnails a rest... :-) ! )

Harry Potter goes missing less than a day after being dropped on the doorstep of the Dursley home. One person must determine who his friends and enemies are as he protects the boy under the Headmaster's watch. Unusual favors are called in, unlikely friendships develop, and the shadow of betrayal grows darker...

"...the ashes of its assassination"!!! I was laughing SO hard! POOR Fawkes!!! Two flameouts in one day! But SUPERB action with dear Flitwick! He's the most seriously underused character in canon, so I'm glad you gave him a larger role! Am GREATLY enjoying your story, and I can't wait to see what happens next!

Author's Response: Thank you!  Poor Fawkes indeed, but it had to happen.  Flitwick disappears for a while after this but he'll be back eventually in his squeaky self, but maybe not as the action star like he was in this chapter.  I'm glad you are enjoying the story so far, and hope to hear from you again.  Thank you for the review!  Thanks for reading!  ~ RK

Wow! So MUCH going on in this chapter! I loved the contrast between subjects of dinner conversations between the Malfoys and the Snapes!

And a wonderfully-detailed exposition of the Black family and the interactions between the three sisters-- this is the first time I've ever seen anyone tackle that particular subject, and you did a magnificent job! Descriptions, emotions, characterizations-- WONDERFUL throughout!

Then there's Lucius' descriptions of false friends who only keep you around until you are no longer useful to them-- BOY, have I been victimized by people like that multiple times through the years. Even though it's Lucius who is doing the telling, and I NEVER thought I'd be in agreement with HIM, he's absolutely correct in THEORY, if not in application to the Weasleys.

And Dumbledore spying on Sev and Ophelia-- tsk tsk! I couldn't quite understand at first WHY Sev thought someone was there, unless he had a sixth sense of being watched, until you explained about the muffled sound. Whoa! Just goes to show what TALENT he has at discerning something so nebulous as a difference in sound, which most of us would never even register. AMAZING!

Sorry it took me so long to review this chapter again. I tried on my phone when you first posted, and the review didn't post, so I decided to try again from the library computer. Can't wait for the next update! :-)

Author's Response: Now, it's my turn to apologize for the delay in responding to your review!  So sorry!  Thank you for your review!  I'm thrilled you enjoyed the chapter, and especially the Black Family section.  Lucius is correct about people using others.  Everyone does it at some point.  (And as I've mentioned before several times, the Malfoy Family - considering them as one big complex character here - are my favorites in the whole series.)  I'm hoping to write several chapters before I post the next few so it may take a little while.  Hope to hear from you again.  Thanks, again for your review!  SOrry it took me so long to respond! ~ RK
