About me:

Greetings from Virginia! I began reading Harry Potter fanfiction in 2006, and P&S is my favorite site by far! As a writer, I just hope that my readers will enjoy my stories. I always appreciate it when people take the time to leave a review!

My hobbies include reading (of course!), quilting, Star Trek (TOS being my fave series), and I've recently begun studying Esperanto online.

I love cats, although I no longer have my own. But 26 cats have shared my life since I was a young child, and I have a plethora of wonderful, zany, and sometimes bizarre memories! (During the pandemic, I discovered a wonderful YouTube channel in Turkey--if you are a cat lover, please check out the "walter santi" YouTube channel and prepare to fall head over heels with numerous cats, plus Walter the dog! Santi is the white indoor cat.)

Alan Rickman is forever in my heart. 🐢

A pair of shoes, a set of mittens. How are two seemingly mundane items going to change the lives of both a snarky man and a troubled child?

Oh, wow-- they didn't know they were being watched from the shadows! But how cool of Snape to be so tolerant of the little sneaks! It's gratifying to see him truly putting Harry's needs first. And just WHERE will Harry choose to go? (Given shadow's knowledge of aut's recent real-life obsession, shadow has definite ideas of their travel plans! *snicker*) Great chapter!

Author's Response: Haha! thanks for reading and reviewing Shadow! Yep, they were being watched in the shadows. Severus didn't want to leave his son. :-) And, yep, he knew Harry's needs were paramount so his friends were allowed to stay. :-D Hehe and yep, you know me all too well. :-D

On Christmas Eve, an unwanted child is left in a manger and found by a young Potions Master, changing both their lives forever. AU, implied child abuse, neglect, possible CP, Sev raises Harry.

Wow! I can't wait to see what happens next! I felt so tense as Snape was trying to deal with Harry-- probably almost as tense as Snape himself was feeling! You really described the situation realistically, as well as making your readers feel the emotions that Snape experiences.

Author's Response: Thankas, I always try and put myself into the character I'm writing and think about how I would react or feel and I guess it really worked well.  Hope you enjoy my next chapter as I've updated this!

Abandoned in the wilds of northen England, lost and alone, Harry stumbles across a small town and discovers a street called Spinners End...

Oh, I loved this! The perfect Christmas Eve read! Snape's threat about the books was great, especially considering all he really had to do was Obliviate Harry in the morning! Also, Harry's opinion of the rug was cute, as well as appropriate. Both characters have terrific potential, in case you were considering continuing the story in the future!

In response to Jan_AQ's challenge "Summer School," Harry learns that he is going to be spending his summer in school because he did absolutely appalling on his finals during fourth-year. He's not happy about it, though, because it was supposed to be his first summer of not having to live with the Dursleys. However, at Hogwarts, they have a different approach to summer school than Muggles do. Summer school teachers cannot teach their own subject. What, oh, what will Snape teach, if not Potions?

This story was such a trip to read! I can't imagine the chaos that switching out the teachers' classes could create-- all expectations are out the door! But it provides a fascinating backdrop for the rest of the action, and I'm so glad that Harry (& Draco) have acquired a warm-and-feathery family! Sinistra is fabulously courageous, just what Sev needs in a wife. And I can't wait to see the baby! And wonder what kind of trouble Harry will get himself into in the sequel! Thanks for such great fun! :-)

    Author's Response: Thanks.

Set during the summer before Harry’s 5th year, Harry and his friends spend time at Grimmauld Place. Throughout their time there, Harry becomes closer to Snape as he realizes that Snape was always there to protect him even if he does dislike Harry. Will these two finally see the light...and what does Professor Sinistra have to do with this?

Hee hee! Not exactly what Harry expected to overhear while foraging for a midnight snack! But it works well to show the prickly relationship between Snape and Sinistra. (Sort of the grown-up version of Ron & Hermione's bickering!)

Author's Response: It's something like that. :) Thanks for the review.

Hmm... Seems that Sev may be in denial on several levels...

Author's Response: Oh, yes, he's definitely in denial. :) Thanks for the review. :)

Payback-- I think we've all been there, even if we can't (or won't) follow through on the impulse. So the impulse is where Sev & Harry connect psychologically.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. :)

Ooohh-- that's a CHILLING chapter! With a great tension-breaker at the very end! :-)

Author's Response: I felt like this chapter needed to be written. Snape had lots of knowledge that Harry never learned, and who better to learn from about revenge not working than Snape? Thanks for the review. :)

Eleven year old Harry Potter is not the boy everyone expects him to be. Unpopular, picked on, and unable to perform magic correctly most of the time because of a stutter, Harry is the boy nobody wants to be around. What happens when Severus Snape, the Potions Master currently spear heading the anti-Potter party, gets a glimpse of the boy’s true personality and inner workings?

I've really been enjoying the story (to the point where I just click "next" because I can't wait to see what you have in store!), and I especially like the way Snape is fighting what he thinks is his own better judgement regarding his evolving opinions/feelings about Harry. He still doesn't trust his heart 100%-- or he's afraid to give in to pure emotion-- but it's fascinating to see a Snape who takes his time in testing the boundaries of an unexplored emotional landscape. :-) I also liked a description from an earlier chapter (I HOPE it was this story and not someone else's!!!) where you said Snape had a headache the size of a Quaffle! Cool comparision! I'd never thought of headaches having an actual physical size, but that was wonderfully graphic! Next time I have a killer migraine... Hee! ;-D

Severus contemplates his life after Voldemort and settles into an anonymous retirement away from the wizarding world until fate strikes with an advertisement from a very recognisable former thorn in his side. Winner for Best Challenge Answer in the 2010 Challenge Fest. Response to the Potions Tutor Needed Challenge by Jan_AQ.

I loved the way this story avoided the obvious cliches and gave an original slant to Snape's character after his retirement. He really comes across as a new person, although remnants of his old persona still hang upon him like a familiar, tattered cloak. His interactions with Harry are authentically abrasive, but I'm glad to see them finally come to terms with each other. Bless little Lily for opening the door to Snape's heart! Now he has a real future ahead! Oh-- I loved Bette's dialogue about the genie and the potter!!! ;-D

    Author's Response:

That bit of dialogue by Bette came out of nowhere. I don't even know what I was thinking, but it makes me laugh too.

Thanks for the kind words.  I tried to avoid the run of the mill Snape/Harry traps and imagine their meeting in a new context.  I don't think Snape's public image would change that much, but his interior after the war, would undergo a revolution.  Bette  and Lily were the two responsible for his awakening, and Harry was responsible for his healing.  It takes an odd-little wizarding village to raise a Snape.
