About me:

A few things about myself:

   1) I am Canadian (cough ... and proud of it)

    2) I absolutely love the readers on this site, and hearing their thoughts/questions either by reviews or messaging makes me simply dance.

   3) I have a pet newt. He is so old it's not even funny. Yeah, 14 yrs. Pet store said 3. Good thing I like him.

   4) Lastly: I got into writing fanfiction here for two reasons.

           A) The first is that I love to write. And not only that, I wanted to learn to write.

           B) Potions and Snitches is a great place for learning.

Thus - I've made a lot of mistakes writing, but because of how  awesome the reviewers are, I've learned from those mistakes and gotten better. The kindness of the readers has kept me coming back time and time again, and really helped me improve my writing. At this point I'm now working on an original novel, meaning fanfiction has taken a back seat. That was always the goal, and I hope one day to take my writing somewhere besides just the internet and my friends' bookshelves.

     Well, that's all folks!

    - Whitetail

P.S. I am on fanfiction.net, but my pen name is LittleWhitetail, rather than Whitetail.

Current Project: Jan 1st 2016 update - Writing is going quite well. Still taking a break from fanfiction. Not promising any new P&S stories, but it isn't impossible. My original novel is slow but progressing, and is into some of the final drafts. Had some success in the past year - got a short story published! If you'd like to read the story, check out Chicken Soup for the Soul: Think Possible. The story is called "The Pivotal Moment". Also, on a fanfiction note, I still read reviews (but am slow to answer). Also, feel free to message me - questions, concerns, anything. I do love hearing from people here. Cheers!

Nice ending. I like how it kind of leaves you wondering if Harry did see Severus. That was a fun read!

Author's Response: Thanks for reading and leaving a review.  I appreciate it!

Worried sick about a missing Hedwig, Harry decides to pull one of his more dangerous stunts. Snape has been landed with the job of looking out for the Boy-Who-Lived… but surely he doesn’t know anything about Harry’s missing owl? One-shot.

This was great Sita! I loved the characterizations, especially the way you portrayed Snape. Harry's worrying over Hedwig was very well shown as well. I also laughed so hard at Harry's little thought that Snape probably wouldn't even get embarrassed if he had to teach in his underwear! The image is simultaneously scarring and hilarious. As for the idea of Snape having a potions garden, I have to say that's a really cool idea. I have never thought of him having one before, but it makes an infinite amount of sense. I feel silly now for never having considered it!
Overall, this was a lot of fun to read. I do not hand out tens often when rating, so good job!

    Author's Response:

Thank you for your review, Whitetail! I'm glad you enjoyed the story, and I'm flattered you'd give it a ten! Actually, the idea of Snape's potions garden only came to me when I was trying to come up with a nesting place for Hedwig that only he would know about - so it was more coincidence than anything else, lol!

    Thanks again for your comments!

Little Harry was rescued from the Dursleys by his Daddy, but not all of their lessons are easily forgotten. Entry in the 2012 Prompt Fest. Prompts: It slipped from his grasp and shattered, Fight or flight.

I liked the style of writing you used to portray Harry's voice. Quite nice.

Author's Response: Thank you!  I was hoping someone would pick up on that.  :)

Everything might have to come down to him, but that doesn't mean he will be alone, not even in the darkness of night.

Ooh, very nicely written. It was quite powerful, especially the scene with Snape sitting next to Harry by the lake, not saying a word.

A happy-ever-after for Snape and Harry. Starts first day of term in Harry's second year, although he has spent all summer at Privet Drive and had no problems getting on the train to Hogwarts. Entry in the 2012 Prompt Fest. Prompts: slippery when wet, a surprised squawk

I liked how Harry gave Snape owl treats. It conjured a rather funny image. The occasional bits of humour were quite fun. I did however find the style a little jumpy - what with the time changes. I had to read over some things a couple times to get my bearings. It may have worked better if you had started with Snape reminiscing and then had him think back to the day that his opinion changed about Harry. That, or maybe you could have broken the story up by beginning a second chapter when Snape first started to reminisce from some point in the future. From my experience it can be a little bit easier on a reader when a new chapter introduces the new time period. It can be a bit confusing if it happens in the middle of a piece. Anyway, just spitballing here. Ah yes, and so you know, I quite enjoyed the description of Minerva's reaction when she figured out Harry tried to use Snape as a post owl! It was quite amusing!

Author's Response: Yes, I can see your point. There was more differentiation in the fonts on my home computer, which I thought made the timescale clear enough: they look more similar here. I also appear to have messed up some of the spacing. Amateurs! Thanks for taking the time to comment, Whitetail.

Christmas break is a lonely time for an eleven-year-old with no friends to spend it with; however, on a walk, he manages to find one in the strangest way. Add to that a Potions Master unaccustomed to silence and it seems three very different beings are in the perfect place at the perfect time to help each other when they need it most, bringing everything together. Entrant into the 2012 prompt fest. Prompts: Bumblebee, Broken teacup.

Oh my, this was lovely. Quite a unique idea! I loved the descriptions, and the little bit from the bee's point of view. It was very easy to tell it was from the point of view of a bee. On a side note ... it does say to be continued at the end, oddly enough. It seems like it was a one shot, so I think the completed box wasn't checked or something. Anyway, just thought you ought to know. And really, gorgeous story. I quite enjoyed the imagery!

Author's Response: Thank you! And I had the idea for both this and uni and people there seemed to think it unique too which was good ^^  Im so glad my bee pov is up to scratch, I was worried it was a little too disorienting.  And I've fixed the 'tbc' issue ^^ Thank you so much!!!

I'm torn between hysterical laughter and questioning what just happened! There were quite a few snippets that were really funny. Fear up hippies in Hufflepuff ... snicker. Your story moved very quickly, and I think that was why it was so amusing. At the end it left you with a feeling that it was all one wild dream. Thank you for the amusing piece!

Author's Response: Hehehe thank you so much for reading and reviewing! This was my first attempt at a humor fic. :-D

That was amusing. I rather liked your characterization of Snape, and how you portrayed Harry and Snape's relationship. Although, one thing you might want to do, is put a line between transitions within each year as when scenes suddenly changed without even an extra space it could get pretty confusing. Although, that could have just been a formatting bug, I dunno. Oh, and I also really liked the scene where Harry asks Snape to duel.

Author's Response: Thank you for your comments :) Thanks also for the heads-up about the formatting. It's something about the way things get uploaded, but is fixed now.

My, that was lovely. What an wonderful, unique idea! This story was so beautifully melancholy, and struck a chord with me in many ways. Severus' sadness was very well described. So often people do lack the will to keep going, but continue out of the expectation others place upon them. I also liked the subtle hints at what was really going on, as well as the way you portrayed Snape's character. It was quite refreshing. Thanks for a wonderful story watercrystals!
