Author's Response: Indeed; canon Severus is a man who lives as much in the past as he does the present, so I expect a tradition founded in his happier boyhood days would be kept, if only to honour Lily. Thanks for the review.

In his first year at Hogwarts, Harry is the only Gryffindor who signs up to stay at school for Christmas. At Dumbledore’s suggestion, he is temporarily transferred to the Slytherin dorms so he won’t spend Christmas morning alone. In Severus Snape’s opinion, not one of the Headmaster’s better ideas…

- Oh, I wouldn't mind seeing this story continue. It seems Harry and Severus are just starting to really get to know one another. Great story!
An accident the summer before 6th year puts Dumbledore's plans for Harry in motion sooner than planned. Will an unexpected truce with Snape better prepare Harry for what is to come? An introspective Snape mentors Harry fic with all the regular players, told from Harry's point of view. Slightly AU after OOTP.

- If only Dumbledore had informed Harry of his 'withered hand' in canon, perhaps he would have understood why Snape killed him and just how much it cost him to do so. Good chapter!

- I really like how you've handled the gradually growing relationship between Harry and Severus. Since we always see Snape through Harry's eyes in the books, we never get a true depiction of who he really is as an adult. Snape would have scared the pants off of me as a kid too, and I think Harry comes to realize this later in life. Good job!

- My theory is that Harry was at first channeling Voldesnort when the potion attacked his curse scar, but then pushed him out to protect Dumbledore. That's probably not it, but that's what I took away from the scene. Great chapter! I can't wait to read more soon.

- Ooo! Nice 2 additional chapters. Finally, Severus is figuring things out. Of course, it's obvious to us. Just a bit of constructive criticism. If you write this from only Severus', then we, the readers, have to figure things out right along with him. It adds a great deal more suspense and interest.
