With a strange potion, new location and the odd Muggle Studies Professor along for the ride, Harry's in for an interesting summer, but why is Snape here? Dumbledore had better pray he gets all three back in one piece! Humor, Angst, No Mary Sues, No Romance, no real plot.

Secondly, I am amazed at your portrayal of Harry. I read a few child fics before but usually the child Harry is unrealisticaly mature. I love his childish thoughts. Finally, about the adults - Hoppity is such a joy to read about, and the melting of Severus Snape is nicely developed. Whatever will he do when they return? I think the linquistic mistakes are the only thing I don't like. Thank you for writing it! When Harry finds an injured Snape on his doorstep and must hide him from the Dursleys, he has no idea that this very, very bad day will be the start of something good.
Harry and Snape are thrown together by annoying relatives, a series of strange dreams, and Voldemort's latest hunt for Harry, but their greatest challenge may well be surviving each other. This will be a long summer unless the two can find a way to work together. A slow-burn enemy-to-mentor story. Alternate 6th summer (and part of the school year): post-OotP; ignores HBP and DH. Author's Response: Hi! I'm so happy that you took a chance on this story and even happier that you're enjoying it! I went through and revised all of my chapters before I started posting new ones, so it helped me to get back into it from a continuity standpoint. Thank you for the review - it's so nice to know whether I was successful there. :) I'm hoping for another few chapters before I take a break for NaNoWriMo.
Can you imagine the power of a twister of love would have on Tom? I haven't looked forward to updates so much in a long time... Author's Response: Thank you for the review! I like the way you think with the love twister! :) When I started writing this story back in 2007, I planned it as a summer-only fic. Then I was having so much fun with it that it grew and grew in my imagination until I’d plotted out multiple story arcs for a year-long, possibly even two-year-long, whole-war story. Unfortunately, that led to me feeling overwhelmed and not sure whether I could put that much writer’s sweat and tears into it…which I think played a large part in my abandonment of it. In order to complete it this time around, I’ve reined it back in to its original plan. Summer only (though it may overlap with the beginning of the school year), and it won’t cover the whole war. However, we’ll get some answers by the end of OME as to how Harry will be able to defeat Voldemort. So it will have a certain amount of war resolution. Anyway, I do have plenty of material already worked out if down the road, I want to do a sequel to conclude the war. I just can’t even think about or commit to that until this story is done and wrapped up with a neat bow or I’ll go crazy. ;)
Author's Response: Oh, I know! Snape isn't quite there yet, but he's growing. Both our boys are...they just need to grow before they alienate each other for good! Thanks for reviewing. :)
I admit I suspected something dodgy about Remus ever since he objected to the most secure safehouse. Harry should have wondered why Remus would leave the house during the night... Author's Response: Yeah, Harry could have put two and two together...but then, hindsight is 20/20. Here he is, completely distracted by his fallout with Snape, assured by the grownups that Remus is fine now (ugh, grownups!), and prone to trust and defend his friends from any suspicion. Poor kid not only dropped the ball, didn't even know there was a ball to drop. :( Thank you so much for the review! I'm glad you enjoyed the latest development. Oh, and maybe you'll be able to read the next chapter before work, as I'll be posting much earlier in the day due to travel plans. I suppose it depends on time zone. I hope you enjoy it either way, and I'm sorry to keep you waiting!!
Author's Response: So I have thought multiple times about penning a Snape POV chapter, but Snape's mind is so different than Harry's that it hasn't felt right so far. It's always a possibility until each chapter has been posted, but for now expect it all in Harry's POV.
Now, the ring - does it send an alarm signal or have a tracking spell on it as well? Is it visible for anyone else? What if it's taken away? 3 reviews for one chapter - I don't think I've done it before. Author's Response: I'm not sure how much to share about what's going on back at Kneader's, as all will be revealed in time, but here goes. He was asking about Snape because Voldemort is after revenge and wants his wayward spy back to suffer the consequences of his betrayal. He was asking about Dumbledore to a) make sure he's not around to interfere with plans to take Harry and b) because it never hurts to find out what intel Harry might know and innocently share with Remus. As for what happened after Harry left, I'll leave that open to speculation for now. I will tell you though that Snape figures out pretty quickly that he's gone and that it involves foul play. The ring works by alerting Snape to Harry's location when he uses the ring. Others can see it but won't necessarily know what it is. It does have a tracker...but such things have limits...like, for instance, if he were to be Portkeyed to a location that's warded against such objects... RUH-ROH! You know...just speculating... *whistles* Haha I love it! Keep the reviews/questions coming. ;)
I think I can guess how Harry's trust will be challenged now... Safe travel Kirby Author's Response: Many trials, indeed. At least I can point to my decade hiatus and say, "but this break is better than that one, right?" ;D I hope you can wait okay and that you like what's in store for our boys!
I love speculating about this story, I think I haven't been so strongly affected. I don't usually review so much! I'd rather not have my experience spoilt in any way so you don't have to address any of my ramblings. This has been a pleasure to read. Author's Response: I love your theories! When do you want to start as my co-writer? ;) I won't tell you any spoilers, but I promise your questions will be answered before the story is done! I hope you're having a splendid week and can't wait to hear what you think about the next chapter!
I liked the little surprise for Bella, I imagine the deatheaters will become even more wary of Harry now, as will Voldemort. Snape's feeling guilty, well, he bloody has the cause to! Somehow, this chapter made me resent him, unlike Harry who is much too forgiving! The bloody man nurses his grudges as if they were his children, while using any excuse to abandon the one child he's a guardian of! So Harry's picking up Legitimency nicely - that's very interesting... Author's Response: I'd say "poor Snape," but he brought it on himself. I love Snape-as-Harry's-mentor stories in fanfiction, but I don't think he could shed his character flaws of bitterness, resentment, impatience, etc., overnight. I'm aiming for his relationship with Harry showing him that he has the ability to change (and to start on it)...but the actual change itself would be a slower process. You know, if Harry had more time to think in between the scariness and surprises and torture, I'm sure he'd be analyzing his newfound Legilimency ability like crazy! I'm sure when things settle down, he'll manage to be properly awed by his sudden progress and consider all the possibilities. Thank you for the regular reviews! I'm so glad you enjoy the weekly chapters!! It's been a lot of work, but it's been so so fun. Fair warning...I'm having a harder time keeping up, what with so many important/climactic scenes and tying up of loose ends coming up. In order to not stress myself and to not forget anything storywise, I may need to take an extra week in between updates for a couple chapters. I'll have a better idea by the end of the week, but I'll let you all know. Even though I love the idea of consistent weekly updates, my main goal is to simply to make sure people know exactly when to expect the next chapter and then to deliver. I hope you're having a fabulous week! |
