| My name is Hannah and I am currently (as of October 2019) a senior college undergraduate. I am majoring in Chemistry and in my off time I like to read write fanfiction. An important note is that I cross post just about everything I post here to ao3 and/or ff.net so if something looks familiar, it probably is. There are few things I love more than receiving reviews, so please go nuts if you are even slightly disposed to do so. If you'd like to actually get in touch with me, I have a tumblr that I occasionally can be seen at, @waitingondaisies so feel free to hmu there. i think that's all k thx bye xoxo [Report This]

One unlucky hit with a strange spell. That's all it took to alter the course of Harry's life - and everyone else's life around him. Bound to stay within ten feet of each other, Harry Potter and Severus Snape have to learn to get along or die trying. But sometimes in the hardest of times, one can learn things never imagined possible. After all, the past doesn't define the future.

ahaha i love how the one wandless spell harry can do is expelliarmus and to top it off, he destroys umbridge's wand just by holding it. incredible. wait is harry implying that he should've taken over hogwarts the day he entered it when he says "I'm doing what I should've done the day I entered Hogwarts"?? because if so, that's a power move if i've ever seen one. DINNER TIME FOR THE KITTY IM SKDFJSD. hooo harry's speech about adults protecting the children- that's powerful too.

hm im not a fan of Snape shaking and yelling in Harry's face, like I get that he's afraid, but he also knows how the Dursley's treated Harry, you'd think he'd try and be a bit more sensitive in light of that. I'm glad Harry took it in the spirit it was meant, but my point still stands imo, harry doesn't know what pride directed at him looks like!!!!! i cry :((( hah Harry as Snape's boss: iconic
Author's Response: I feel like it's a horrible parent reflex. I've experienced it before. Haha. "Are you okay? Yes. Great." -starts yelling about child's stupidity- No one is perfect, but so long as they keep trying to be better, I think that's what counts.

I’m finally getting a chance to catch up on your fic and oh my god poor Harry. I’m glad he has snape there to help him deal with everything in general but especially this most recent loss. I’m sure snape will be up to the challenge of fatherhood though

Of course Harry would bottle this up. I hope the books aren’t too much for him to handle on his own!

Fudge deserved that and more tbh. I absolutely loved Hogwarts speaking through Harry, though I wish it weren’t so tiring for him (he needs his rest!) can’t wAit to see what happens next!
I have to say that this is one of the most difficult fanfictions I've read. Don't get me wrong, it's really well written, but the subject matter is just so heavy and dark. It's one of those stories that I anxiously await an update, but then when it comes, I have to convince myself that I really do want to read it. That reluctance to read a chapter has, however, lessened with this chapter. There is hope that Severus will be less of a bastard, and that means that I am even more anxious for the next chapter. I want to know how school goes, how everyone treats, what his decision is about the sleeping arrangements, etc. Thank you for updating this story again, and I hope you update again soon!
Author's Response: Ultimately, I promise a happy ending to this one. I think Snape is actually doing really well in adjusting his habits to meet Harry's needs. You don't unlearn habits overnight, but Snape sure is trying. Snape will try his best. He'll fail sometimes, and bad things will happen, and Snape will be very sorry, and Harry will forgive him. It's not going to be rainbows and butterflies, but these humans will do their best given the situation they are in. Hopefully that heartens you.
