When Harry finds an injured Snape on his doorstep and must hide him from the Dursleys, he has no idea that this very, very bad day will be the start of something good.

Harry and Snape are thrown together by annoying relatives, a series of strange dreams, and Voldemort's latest hunt for Harry, but their greatest challenge may well be surviving each other. This will be a long summer unless the two can find a way to work together. A slow-burn enemy-to-mentor story.

    Author's Response: Aw, I know. Those poor boys have to be captives of an evil raging lunatic wizard just as the world devolves into a pandemic apocalypse. It really is poor timing. Well, their ordeal is not over yet, but we're progressing steadily toward a resolution of their current difficulties. Let's hope the real world does the same! Hang in there and stay safe in your part of the world!!

    - a marvellous story.
    It feels like being at the school , your grip on athmosphere , glances,
    sulkiness, and the studying is riveting.
    I so want to kick Sirius, and tell him to take up boxing in the Room of Requir'to let off aggression,
    hug Harry, and get Sev to take his inner grief in earnest, the sensitive boy needs one on one with an attentive adult, Harry needs to be held and weep.- he's seen Ron and Herms and Nev for pity's sake, tell Lupin to relax a smidgeon, and play cards with his gang, after homework is done, and they have bathed in the sun. Aren't they allowed outside at all?
    update, please, write more,'cause it is too good to leave hanging...

    Thank you So Much for a beguiling story- made me grin at Harry's protest against Draco Malfoy-elegance. He would.
    And Snape's 1960's upbringing wanting to evolve upwards, away from the wants of wartime rationing. Well spotted.
    Britain was harshly rationed for a long time. Elizabeth David's cookbooks describe it.
    To fellow-readers, there are more chapters in this saga over on ffnet under the same title.
    I hope that it will eventually be completed, as Severus' hidden warmth and perfectionism, Harry's unfolding, and the other teachers' plotting (Yay!) against the icy cruelty of AD. (shivering) is wonderful to read again and again.

    wow, so Good. Bravo, Harry.

    Like Sev, pained, in his comfy bed- I cannot let this story go , sit waiting by the laptop.
    it is such a tale,
    but, eight years?
    Need more.
    Will Harry crack under that full house?
    Will Nev and Luna blush, kiss, over the pickled mandrakes?
    Will Ginny snarl and keep on being a rather spoilt hoyden,unchecked? She grew up with a female scold for mother, -all sons live in other countries? hmm..(those rants.) Will Severus overhear it, give her an royal trimming-down to teach her empathy, and not her being universally admired by all men (Scarlett?)
    - to let Ginny want to win a liiittle of his respect back, and Harry's, because when Harry's head is cleared of desire, he will start looking at her not-lovable character traits. Do I want to live with this?
    Ginny seems to not to really truly respect her father, the man in the shed, tinkering, not mending stuff, now Judge Grim.
    Ginny seemed to understand Snape and to acknowledge his inner strength and mastery of many subjects, and Severus is even better with rapier-words than her mother. Shakespeare let the shrew be tassel-gentled and tamed by Petrucchio, because he won the battles in wit against her, and never gave up.

    Uhh; this is grim, Revenge, not checked by mercy; well written.
    Please keep this story going, it is so intriguing- there are many parallels in modern day politics- alas. Power, not checked by temperate knowledge or empathy. A refusal to see the consequences of unwise behaviour.--
    Real life can be worse than fiction.

    Bravo, pdantzler. Please keep on. Severus still isn't healed or Harry and Draco. And Minerva is asking far too much of a weary Harry.
    What will happen?
    My earlier review was a bit too passionate and unchivalrous, well, not polite, for which I am sorry. Many apologies for it.
    It spoke for my frustration that this thought-provoking, heartfelt story is unfinished.

    A story, that really wraps itself around you.. well done ! It is true to Snape and Harry. I can see them in their slow pavane teaching each other the steps of less belligerence.
    By the way, to others who peruse this, odd, the reviews for chapt.10 are here, but the chapter itself is missing both in the index list and in writing; it jumps from nr. 9 to nr. 11.

    I adore this story. There are 47 chapters of it on ffnet and it was updated in 2014.
    The humor, drama, anger, tenderness wisdom and range of feelings expressed between the families is really pleasing to immerse yourself in, and I read and re-read it. Will you Ever, dear authoress, ever update it again? Harry still doesn't know about his wild magic, Sev isn't a grandfather, and Theodore Nott and Draco havn't been rescued from Mr.Shifty Mc'Redeyes.
    Please write more. I hoped lockdown gave pause and time to take up the quill again.. It is so well done. Even Our Potions master would approve.
