- oh wow really good, just little americanisms really, like the fact that the police force rarely carry guns in england, and the ER is called A&E short for accident and emergency.
normally i wouldn't write this, but i'm trying to stop using my britishisms when writig a fic with an american setting, and i know it helps when people point them out to me.
i really do love this story though, especially the original twist on it, and i'm a sucker for babies.
i'm a student midwife, and here in england and the rest of britain, it's the midwives who look after the pregnant women, deliver the majority of the babies unless there's something really wrong with mother and baby, and we also look after them after the delivery. because of this it seemed really weird to me that the nurse knew about labour, because our nurses don't deal with it. it took me a while to realise that there are very few qualified midwives in america lol, it really did confuse me.
there are also no or almost no communal nurseries anymore, the babies always stay with their mothers unless there's a problem like the mother is a convited criminal. wow i don't think i've ever rambled this long on a review before, it's probably the fact that it's just gone midnight and i've been up since six. also i find the differences between different countries' medical services interesting. i've read stories where the dursleys have refused to let harry see a doctor because they didn't want to pay for it, when actually almost all medical treatment, including seeing a doctor is free.
wouldn't be surprised at all if you skipped this or fell asleep from boredom after the first line, really.
anyway, 10 points for this and it's being added to my favourites. i don't think i've ever done this before on a fic with only two chapters. update soon, really looking forward to it!

Hearing a noise at the door he cautiously goes to investigate - to find a battered Snape collapsed on the front doorstep. What happened to Snape, why is he in Harry's neighborhood and what in Merlin's name is Harry going to do with him?

After Harry is caught for exploding a cauldron in 2nd year Potions, Snape insists he keep a firm hand on the boy he must secretly protect. However, he discoveres that there is more to the twelve year old than unruliness and disrespect. Similarly, Harry learns from and gains a new perspective of his professor.
