Summary: Severus is in some sort of parental roll to Harry and it is Harry's first birthday with him. Harry is in need of a cake for his birthday party. Severus needs help from someone like Molly Weasley or Pomfrey. It needs to be wacky and fun!

Summary: After the Potters' death, Harry is brought up by Snape under a pseudonym. He knows that he is Harry Potter and has been adopted by Snape. Before starting with Hogwarts, he needs to be told about his history - more specifically, his parents' history:

1.Snape was a death eater - and he had a falling out with his mother

2.Harry is biologically Snape and Lily's son( he has grown up believing that he was Potter's son and adopted by Snape later)

3. Snape was the one to leak out the prophecy

Harry's reaction ( bad) and the subsequent story as Voldemort rises again.

Summary: Young Harry can't sleep for whatever reason, which forces Snape to tell him a bedtime story since he refuses to give Harry Dreamless Sleep. Harry can be sick or healthy, but there must be a bedtime story told.

Summary: Listen to the song: Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Greenday (can be found on Youtube). Write a story based on this song if Harry were to feel the way this song says.

Ideas to start (but not required):
·Harry disappeared after the battle
·Harry ran away during the summer
·Harry ran away in the middle of the school year or Christmas break
·Harry is traveling alone
·Harry may be in shock somehow from some traumatic event
·Harry believes he is alone and has nobody (as per the song)
·Harry is physically injured

Required:
·Somehow Snape finds, runs into, or meets with Harry.
·Snape begins to get a clear picture of who Harry really is, and what he has been through.
·Somehow Snape gets Harry back into mainstream society by bringing him out of the shell he has created around himself.
·This story should center around Harry's thoughts and feelings, and his encounter with Snape, although other characters are welcome.

1. Bonus points for Draco being a main character somehow.
2. Bonus points for Draco turning out to be nice.

Summary: When Harry arrives at Hogwarts, he has been conditioned by the Dursleys' treatment to accept bullying and abuse. Malfoy takes advantage of Harry's obvious vulnerability, tormenting and bullying him constantly. Harry accepts Malfoy's cruelty without complaining or going to a teacher. When Snape learns of Draco's behavior and Harry's true nature, he's forced to realize that he may have more in common with James Potter's son than he's comfortable with.

Summary:

The Sorting Hat goes back in time and changes how House sortings are made. Previously, it sorted children by wishes and family inheritance. Now it will sort only by personality traits, and is free from any compulsions placed on it originally. Be creative!

Requirements:
  • The Sorting Hat goes back in time, to anytime (it could even go back to the Founders and tell them that the whole House system thing is a stupid idea).
  • No pairings, or pairings play a very small and almost unnoticed role.
Things I Would Like:
  • Goes back to Harry's time, the Marauders, or shortly before/during Tom Riddle's start
  • Extremely uneven Sortings, so that the teachers are forced to hold mixed classes
  • NO OOC-ness
  • Parseltongue plays a key role (double points for this)
  • Parselmouth!Lily
  • Decently written and semi-original Sorting songs; the Sorting Hat should go with different songs than 'before'
  • Second year, Harry either is the one who is given Tom Riddle's diary or he has it for longer/ knows of its power for longer
  • Not-super-nice Snape
  • Someone other than James is Harry's father (another thing to get creative with; also how it's revealed)
  • Dark!Sirius (regardless of what time)
  • Independent! and/ or Gray!Harry (but not Dark/ Evil)
  • Lily somehow ends up resurrected (points for creativity)

Summary: Somehow Harry is cursed with a powerful bad luck curse. It starts to be apparent while at Hogwarts, getting progressively worse until it is clearly a curse and Harry is unable to cope with the effects. Something as simple as walking down the stairs can now be life threatening, and Harry finds himself either injured or in terrible circumstances almost daily.

How can Harry and his teachers deal with a string of bad luck as strong as a curse? Should he have a special protector watching his every move? Should he leave Hogwarts? Is he a risk to his friends? The other students? Teachers? Owls? If it keeps getting worse, how will he survive? This is sure to test Snape's resolve and vow to safeguard Harry Potter. How can they break it?

The Bad luck curse may be a genetic inheritance, or something that Harry was cursed with, or gave himself by accident due to his curiosity. In any case, Snape must be there to help him. This may take place in or out of Hogwarts, any year.

The idea of a Bad luck curse can be used independently of the challenge.

Summary: Harry and Draco have both been adopted (either formally or in spirit only) by Snape and are living with him. Your choice as to why they're in this situation! Harry falls ill, during which time he realizes Draco and Severus see him as a brother/son instead of the Gryffindor living with them.

Summary: Snape is a total and complete bastard to Harry (think Snape on his worst day, times 50). Snape relentlessly insults him, gives him impossibly tough detentions, says hurtful things, bullies him day and night. He thinks he's justified in doing so. Harry deals with it, as always, sucking up the hard work and trying not to let the insults get under his skin. But it gets too intense, and Harry gets physically and mentally overwhelmed. The insults hurt Harry increasingly, and deepen his insecurities. Harry becomes a pile of nerves, exhausted, his whole life looks hopeless. He can't take it anymore and breaks. Then, preferably, Snape sees the error of his ways, feels guilty, and tries to make it all better.

Mood: angst, angst, angst, "poor me", and lots of comfort/fluff at the end.

Summary: For some reason Harry is summoned to the time of the Founders during an Occlumency lesson with Snape. Naturally, of course our greasy potions master gets sucked in right along with Harry. Why were they summoned to that time line? And do the two find a way to get along?
