Summary: Harry's connection to Voldemort is the best way to gain information about Voldemort and his plans. What does Snape think about this? Was it his idea? Does he intend to help? Or hinder the process to protect Harry or Snape's own worth as the best Order spy?

During the later part of first year, young Harry has had the companionship and protection of a big, black dog (Sirius in his animagus form). During this same stretch of time, Harry has been growing closer to a certain Potions Master, who finally adopts the boy. He tells Harry, though, that he may keep the dog, but he'll have to be neutered. Unfortunately, Sirius missed this conversation... [Report This] Summary: The nightmares and memories from Voldemort keep Harry up at night. His only undisturbed sleep is in the early morning, coincidently when his classes are. What happens when Harry starts falling asleep during class and/or skips classes to sleep in?

Instead of having the entire student body sleep out in the great hall it is decided that Sirius Black's main target will be protected. Harry Potter, and perhaps his friends, are placed with Hogwarts Professors overnight. There are so few GOOD vampire fics, and even less Severitus-centered ones. [Report This] Summary: Canonically, Harry was an abused child. Rowling didn't go into it much because she would then have to actually deal with the issue rather than pushing it aside, but the fact remains--the Dursleys neglected and abused Harry. The question is--why in hell did nobody notice?
It's understandable, really, that Dumbledore either marginalized or ignored the abuse. The same with Mrs. Figg. It's an age thing. Child abuse wasn't recognized as a problem before the late seventies, which means to Dumbledore's Victorian mindset, it's "just discipline" and doesn't count. Mrs. Figg would have considered it none of her business. Again, it's the age in which she grew up. Mrs. Figg would have considered it a, "family issue" and thus, "private business". What is unforgivable is that none of his teachers seemed to notice his problems and none of the neighbors reported it, either. It would have been absolutely obvious to teachers just in comparison between Dudley and Harry! Just their wardrobes should have rung warning bells. By the 1980s, mandatory reporting laws were on the books, (at least in the US--I know they exist, but not the exact timeline for the UK laws. I'm doing a bit of assumption here) and Harry should have been taken away from the Dursleys. Considering that Dumbledore never checked up on him, except via Mrs. Figg, in the real world, just from the contrast between Dudley and Harry, Harry would have ended up in foster care. This is made even more true by the educational push there was about the issue during the era. So, my challenge is for a story in which someone, be it a teacher, a neighbor, etc, notice Harry's plight and do something about it. This can be before or after Hogwarts, but my only stipulation is that it can't be anyone from the Wizarding World. It's also your choice how Severus finds out and gets involved--except it can't be at Dumbledore's behest. It can go for pretty much any category for the relationship between Severus and Harry, but I'd like Severus to remember that above all, he was Lily's best friend since childhood. [Report This] Summary: Before becoming a Death Eater Spy, Severus has a night with Lily. He tells her he loves her, but when he doesn't return and is presumed dead by the Order, she turns to James to help raise Harry. When she dies, he doesn't find out until Harry's 8th birthday, from Petunia. Now all he has to do is tell his girlfriend of 5 years....
[Report This] Summary: Harry's situation at the Dursley's becomes unbearable. Dumbledore gathers a meeting to decide who should be Harry`s guardian. At least one character offers but he/she/they are discarded.
Finally Dumbeldore proposes two Slytherins for the job. One is Snape the other is Sinistra. Neither of them want the job, but neither do they want the other to have it. It's decided that Harry should have the last word in the matter. At the end of school year the child MUST DECIDE. The rest is up to you. Any book or no book at all. They can try to achieve their goal (to be the guardian) alone or in alliance with other characters... [Report This] |
