Summary: Despite warnings, the Golden Trio continue to break rules here and there. The Headmaster turns a blind eye and Minerva refuses to believe how badly they break the rules. After Hermione gets cat whiskers and a tail in 2nd year, Snape gets an idea. He lays traps for them - to transfigure them into animals for 2 months the next time they break into his office/stores/break curfew. Soon, he has a transfigured weasel, a cat and a (not sure which animal) with him. But what is this? His plan turning against him when he is forced to care for them for that duration.

Summary: Professor Flitwick has had enough of Minerva vs. Severus in each and every staff meeting - hogging up all the time for real decisions, and making the meetings longer by droning on and on.

He comes up with a novel solution and gets the Headmaster to agree - get Snape to be Gryffindor Head of House and McGonagall to be Slytherin's! Dumbledore can agree to Flitwick's plan or make it more interesting by reassigning all the Head of Houses - have them each take over each house for a specified period.

May use sorting hat to reassign.

Summary: When a resident at Hogwarts is in extreme distress with no hope or help in sight, a special corridor at Hogwarts automatically creates itself around him or her, creating a safe place for as long as is needed. It was developed by the founders or a Headmaster to keep the children safe while they are at school. No one else is allowed in besides the ones who call for it. In your story how do the characters realize this, who goes missing and why, and how do they get out? Do they even want to?

Ideas
  • Harry is missing and no one knows why
  • Harry's life is in danger at Hogwarts, he runs away from a teacher, an older student, or himself
  • Harry knows he can't go back to the Dursleys for the summer
  • After Sirius' death, Harry runs through the school, thinking of ways to join Sirius
  • During a canon or new adventure, Harry and company run away from danger (ie. the troll from 1st year)
  • Snape previously used the corridor, and is one of the few people to know of it's existence, purpose, and how to get in

Summary: Harry has defeated Voldemort under guidance from Snape and Dumbledore. During that time Snape and Harry got real close (mentor- mentee/ father-son -isque). With Harry's growing power (political as well as magical), he starts to go corrupt (starts becoming the next Dark Lord). Now Snape has to lead the war against Harry.

Summary: Sirius saves Harry from his new guardian Severus Snape.

Ideas: (lifted pretty much verbatim from Jan_AQ's 'Saved from Sirius' challenge)
  • Snape allows Harry to do something dangerous, and Harry doesn't (or wouldn't) make it out alive this time
  • Snape does something illegal in public while Harry is with him (can be Muggle or Wizarding world)
  • Snape wants to keep Harry away from Hogwarts for whatever reason
  • Snape wants to train Harry, and it gets out of hand
  • Snape has a flashback, and not understanding it, Harry gets in the way
  • Snape loses control of his emotions, and hurts Harry
  • Giving some bad advice
  • Giving himself away as a Death Eater to the Ministry, Umbridge, ect. which gets Harry into trouble he can't get out of
  • Harry is hurt when Snape takes him to a dangerous place
  • Snape does something immature or accidental, and Harry may pay the consequences i.e.: accidentally locking Harry out of the house; losing track of Harry at a bar when he got drunk; allowing Harry to overdose on a potion for "fun"; having Harry around dangerous potions, forgetting Harry isn't a potioneer
  • Anything else you can come up with!

Summary: Hogwarts offers summer school to select students who fall behind. Is it at Hogwarts? Who teaches what, and how do they decide which students need the extra help? Do Houses still exist?

Alternatively, maybe students who do amazingly well are allowed to attend as well... maybe as tutors, or to explore their favorite subject more in depth.

  • Sirius wants to train Harry, and it gets out of hand

Summary:
Soon after he arrives back at school for fifth or sixth year, Harry has an accident somehow transports him into our world in the current year in Muggle America. And who should have tagged along but his least two favorite people - Snape and Draco? As if that's not enough, it turns out that this world is actually an alternate reality from their own, one in which the Harry Potter story is a series of books that have revolutionized our world and culture.

While trying to find a way home, they learn to each reconcile with each other and come to realize that their perspective on each was skewed. Bonding occurs - fatherly/brotherly or otherwise. Throughout it all, they must try to keep low profiles and survive in a world that can instantly recognize them as story-book characters. For if that little fact leaks out, mass chaos would ensue.

In this world, they are recognized by a young girl/boy around Harry and Draco's age (OC) who ends up befriending them and helping them throughout their journey.

Please try to make reactions of all characters and especially the OC as realistic as possible. (i.e. if you literally ran into your favorite story-book character on the street, what would you really do?)

Ideas:
  • Angst, drama, humor, hurt/comfort
  • Girl is in school (high school or uni)
  • Harry has unresolved issues with Cedric's and Sirius' deaths, which are confronted
  • Draco has unresolved home life issues that are confronted
  • Scenes with loads of humor. Use your imagination - it's a perfect setting. ;)
  • Harry and Draco attend public Muggle school with the girl, and Snape gets a job of some sort - most likely a teaching position (substitute or long-term)
  • They are trapped in this world for quite some time. Long enough to experience some of our major holidays, at least.
  • Harry has nightmares
  • Harry has unresolved Dursley issues which are confronted
  • OC understands the Snape/Harry and Harry/Draco discord and works to try and fix it
  • OC has no problem sharing her opinions with Snape, especially when s/he butts heads with him. This happening somewhat often, and rather loudly too would be awesome! :D

Summary: Harry is shrunk, literally. Think Thumbelina or Tom Thumb. How did it happen? Doesn't matter as long as Snape keeps him.
Extra points if you work in references of Tom Thumb's mischievous, accident-prone adventures.

Summary: One late evening, while returning home from a visit to Muggle London via the Underground, Severus comes across an injured and half asleep Harry Potter. When asked about his choice in lodging, Harry retorts with how he is unable to return home, but needed a place to stay far away from both his tormentors and the Magical World.

Unwilling to leave the boy be, Severus reluctantly offers Harry a place to stay the night (and just the night) so long as the boy promises not to flirt with unnecessary danger so easily. On the way, Harry begins to describe his fascination with trains and how he believes his life is like one: unable to leave preordained tracks, without it ending his own destruction.

Severus tries to tell him that because he is young and because everyone had sacrificed so much for him, not -everything- is set in stone... unlike for some other people.
