Summary: Harry's father had vampire genes that never became dominant, but they were passed down to Harry and nearing Harry's birthday, the vampire in Harry begins to mature. Now, it is common knowledge that most vampires don't need human blood to survive, but a few 'breeds' -- including Harry's -- needs something to survive that is found only in the blood of a human. Unfortunately, the only adult(s) around -- Severus Snape and maybe Remus and/or Sirius -- don't realize it for much too long . . . they've only been giving Harry animal blood.

Summary: I was bored one day and was listening to Martine Mcbride's In My Daughter's eyes and thought that could be a really cool Snape is Harry's dad story. And that wasn't the only song that I've heard that could be a fic, so I thought, Songs become Stories! So here's the challenge: pick any song you want - though no slash! obviously. And use the plot or idea and make a story. But please tell us who sings/wrote the song as well as the songs name. Sorry I know my instructions stink! But hey its a challenge! Summary: They say first impressions are everything...but what happens when we are forced to re-examine those perceptions? After the complete farce of a first lesson, Harry is overcome with a fierce determination to prove that he belongs at Hogwarts. To do this, he concludes that he must excel in potions at all costs.

What does our ever-observant potions master think when he notices the son of his most hated enemy is quickly shaping up to be the most promising potions student since he himself attended Hogwarts?

Must Have:
- Eventual Harry and Draco friendship (perhaps formed through being forced to partner in potions)
- Harry becoming an apprentice of Snape’s (near the end of 1st year or even in the beginning of 2nd if the story continues that far)
- At least one occurrence of Harry helping Hermione with potions.
- Slow progression of the Harry and Snape relationship from hated student/teacher through uneasy truce during apprenticeship to eventual mentor relationship.
