Summary:

Draco time travels to the past. He finds himself in his 11 year old body on the Hogwarts Express, going to Hogwarts for the first time. Draco decides to befriend Harry Potter like he wanted to the first time. But this time Draco knows what NOT to do. How does Draco befriending Harry change things? Will Draco try to join Gryffindor, or try to convince Harry to join Slytherin? With Draco and Harry being friends, will Snape be forced to treat Harry differently?

Summary:

After Cedric's death that marked Voldemort's return, Ministry's propaganda, the Daily Prophet's lies and Umbridge's...sweet pink presence - Harry's fifth year was, to say the least, loaded. Oh, and it was also the O.W.L. year. Hectic.

At one of the 'unofficial' staff meetings - where all teachers except the Defence professor are present - the issue comes up of how Mr. Potter was faring under the pressure. It is decided that the four Heads of Houses and Dumbledore will follow Harry invisibly throughout his day to gain an in-depth understanding of Harry's mental and emotional state. It can even be two days, or three, if you want, but not more than that.

Must have :

- Detention with Umbridge and blood quills must not be illegal or Dark Magic - simply a non threatening device which is used uniquely to inflict pain. (If you want, they can be the standard method for signing all ministry contracts, for example.)

- A D.A. session.

- In-character Snape, good Dumbledore. And a resilient Harry who's coping with the help of his wonderful friends Ron and Hermione.

Options to explore :

- Skeeter's interview

- Maybe the trio goes to the Chamber of Secrets to read Slytherin's stuff or to the RoR for some self-defense practice?

- You can also add to Umbridge's detentions, just so long as it's something nobody can actually do something about. Grimace and curse the toad, certainly, but no action that can be taken.

 

Let your imagination run wild - make up all sorts of activities for Harry and his friends (they can't be punished for the stuff professors see them doing while spying, after all!) and have fun writing!

Summary:

Severus Snape has been severely mistreated at many points of his life, causing his mind to fracture. His sense of self is separated into several parts:

Severus [host] a socially inept individual with autistic and obsessive-compulsive tendencies surrounding dark and defensive magic whose best friend growing up was Lily Evans. Severus is the one Dumbledore thinks is teaching his students, Dumbledore trusts since his knowledge of dark arts but without the desire to actually harm anyone makes him invaluable.

Toby, age 5 a personality that developed to protect Toby from the lonliness and sadness of Spinner's End, who loves life and holds all his positive memories. Toby, however, isn’t really all that developed since Severus wouldn’t have had many positive memories and hadn’t met Lily yet – mostly attaches himself to Asphodel and thinks Harry would be a ‘cool older brother.’

Asphodel, 21 a personality that diverged from Severus because of the grief and despair on October 31st 1981. Asphodel is the character that protects Harry throughout the series, is sarcastic and quick witted but caring and instinctually protective.

Professor Snape, age 50, a personality developed to protect him from but is also most like Tobias Snape. Professor Snape is an extremely intelligent equally vicious (ex-)terrorist and potions master. He is who is actually doing the teaching since he gets called 'Professor Snape' or 'Sir' during class. Professor Snape is the character that hates Harry and who is cruel to him.

Suggested plot:

When Dumbledore asks Severus to check on Harry during the Summer, Aunt Petunia’s disdain and Uncle Vernon’s temper trigger Asphodel into protecting Harry. She orders Harry to pack his things, and apparate him to her safe house. Her job done and everything calm, Severus contacts Dumbledore who gives him temporary guardianship for the summer.

Severus tries his best, but he struggles to look after himself let alone a 14-year-old. Luckily, Harry knows how to cook but strangely doesn’t mind cooking for Severus. Severus talks about Lily Evans, a girl who he grew up with who had eyes like Harry’s and Harry learnt a lot about his mother. Severus is happy that Harry isn’t calling him weird of a freak, so Severus continues to mentor Harry. Severus teaches Harry about defensive magic and how to dispel dark curses.

When Harry mentions that he has never been to the cinema and could he please go for his birthday, Asphodel gets oddly protective and takes him, though Harry has to take over protecting Toby who decides he just has to see The Little Mermaid. Harry confronts Severus about who Asphodel and Toby are, causing Severus to have a meltdown since he doesn’t like Harry’s confrontational voice and unanswerable questions – leaving Harry to go to Dumbledore to ask what was going on.

Dumbledore manages to calm the three of them, and explains to Harry about the alters, that he did a good job looking after Toby and getting him. Dumbledore warns him about the ‘Snape’ personality, the side who is a blood purist and wouldn’t hesitate to hurt him – which doesn’t add up for Harry because that’s Professor Snape’s personality unlike Severus’. Dumbledore blanches and wonders what was going on, worrying that he’s not being paying enough attention to his teachers, then sends Madame Pomphrey to assess the situation.

Dumbledore decides to move Severus into teaching Defence Against the Dark Arts in an attempt to temper the ‘Professor Snape’ personality, suggesting that Severus use his mother’s maiden name Prince. Dumbledore makes the decision that ‘Severus/Professor Snape’ should not go back to spying duties during the next war since he realised that triggering that personality was doing more harm that he realised.

Professor Prince is a half-decent professor, even if he’s not as fun as Professor Lupin. The Defence Curse (Riddle wasn’t completely mad then, the curse decreed that there would be an annual turnover until someone as qualified as him showed up) deems that Professor Prince is a suitable professor and allows him to continue teaching.

Severus applies for magical guardianship from Dumbledore, and thus Harry is given permission to stay under the protection of Hogwarts throughout the Summers.

Tom, Severus and Harry died that day on May 2nd 1998. All three end up having the same grim reaper who explains that much of their life has been orchestrated by the headmaster Albus Dumbledore so that he can claim the Merlin Peverell seat - for the ‘greater good,’ of course. Merlin Peverell had extraordinary magic and the ability to wield dark, neutral and light magic with ease as such had a special role in the wixenaught. He had three sons and divided his estate between the three magic types. The three brothers also created the invisibility cloak (light magic, Harry,) the elder wand (neutral magic, Severus) and the resurrection stone (dark magic, Tom.) Only when the three brothers sit on the Merlin seat will balance be restored to magical Britain. Unfortunately, Albus Dumbledore decided to use his position as headmaster to drive harsh divides between the types of magic and has allowed the orphanage or abandonment of the three boys so that no magic can live whilst only one survives. Lady magic places the three boys in a purgatory classroom where they learn from her grandniece Deþ (death) about their family history and intertwined fates. Then, Tom, Severus and Harry need to decide when they're going back and what they're going to do about the problems they've uncovered. 

 

Notes

 

Regarding the timeline, Deþ can either:

  •  (1) send them back to May 2nd 1998 to reshape the magical world
  • (2) send each back to their own birth time to reshape their world as they grow up with new knowledge

 

Regarding relationships

  • No romantic/sexual pairings between any or all of the three
  • Any ‘relationship’ for them to be considered (very distant) cousins or (pseudo-) brothers or grand/parent/child.
  • Nothing beyond PG-13 and no relationship age gap greater than: (=half age + 7 years)
  • Relationships do not need to be as cannon 
  • Abuse of Tom/Severus/Harry by their guardians really doesn’t need to be exaggerated – it’s bad enough as it is in cannon.

 

 

Regarding Cannon Plot Issues 

  • Why is there a civil WAR if all children go through the same school where teachers could use this time to promote conversation as opposed to cursing/violence? It’s almost as if someone wants all these problems …

End Goals

  • The Boys and the wider wizarding world learn about Dumbledore’s machinations
  • In this world, Severus can Speak the Ancient and Noble Language of Serpents (*insert preening Snake*) 
  • Tom has his soul, body and magic ‘put back together’ and as such is capable of rational thought (happens in the ‘purgatory room’)
  • End goal is for them to be politically diverse but otherwise work well together aka no torture or murder (looking at you, Tom.)
  • End goal is for them to diversify the student population and types of classes offered at Hogwarts
  • Generally improving the culture of tolerance at Hogwarts and thus the whole magical Britian
  • A ‘scientific’ explanation for the difference in dark, neutral and light magic 

 

Little Things 

 

  • There may be another ‘prophecy’ regarding the three boys who will seek to challenge Dumbledore which drives his actions
  • If (timeline (2)) Severus doesn't become a teacher, and admits in the purgatory chamber how bad he was at teaching 
  • I’d love to see a magical primary school so that muggleborns are brought into the magical world sooner, and a boarding highschool for squibs & non-magical muggleborn siblings so they’re not left out
  • I'd love to see muggleborns finding they're related to long-lost squib ancestors - hence the inclusion of non-magical muggleborn siblings 
  • Neville may have been the one to kill the Dark Lord Tom Marvolo Riddle after Harry dies
  • Their afterlife purgatory room may appear as Hogwarts
  • Tom may change his last name to Gaunt, Severus may change his last name to Prince
  • They may all be descended from Slytherin but may claim one of the others: Tom - Hufflepuff, Severus - Ravenclaw and Harry - Gryffindor
  • Harry may get a pet snake (his ability to Speak is directly from Slytherin – not the horcrux)
  • Lots of sneaky snarky Slytherin talk from Severus 
  • (Especially (timeline (1)) Pureblood culture should be more similar to Pagan/Wiccan culture  
  • The only titles Harry may claim (timeline (1)): Potter, Black, Gryffindor, plus 1/3 of the Merlin seat.
  • I’ve always perceived Severus’ love for Lily more like a sister rather than romantic
  • If (timeline (1)) Winky and Kreature may have an elfling to call her Dobbie 
  • If (timeline (2)) Petunia may have a magical child to call him Aster Black, which is both means flower & star (w/ one of the Black brothers) 
  • If (timeline (2)) Severus may have a child to call her Asphodel Eileen Snape with her namesake Lily Evans/Potter becoming her godmother,

Summary:

Twin idea:  You know how fanon at least says Harry has a saving people complex?   What if it wasn’t putting his neck out but healing?   Because of future plans of being a doctor, he resists any attempts to go to Hogwarts, or any other magical main school for lack of muggle subjects/help in his future career and is quite content at attending Stonewall High…this can also make Petunia & Vernon treat him better when they learn he chooses to forsake magic or, just one relative since he’s 1. Lived without magic for 10 years, 2. Has no real attachment to his parents, 3. thinking about his future.    If…when…they press it (ministry and dumbledore), Vernon and/or petunia can question about his muggle education or future beyond Hogwarts if/when he chooses to go back to the muggle world.    Maybe petunia, as he gets near Hogwarts age has to tell Harry what happened to his mother (aka she went to Hogwarts and was killed by a madman).  Or, if it’s Vernon being treated normally, he says this as well as why he hates magic (possibly scared of it, James ‘bragging’ about being rich when they met).  Now for the sake of plot, Harry is forced to go and not surprisingly, Snape is sent to fetch potter and bring him back by any means necessary (or the aurors on ministry orders) to attend Hogwarts.   Oh and he clashes with Hermione because she loves magic and thinks it’s the best thing ever and obviously has no plans of ever returning to the muggle world, so they aren’t friends but rivals.    Because of these changes, Harry and his aunt and uncle or Harry and Vernon at least are in good terms with each other through Harry’s education. What role would Snape play besides possibly kidnapping Harry?  He could be put as Harry’s magical guardian at Hogwarts or mentor?  Ron, being a pureblood, doesn’t understand why the ‘famous Harry potter’ doesn’t think magic is amazing. You can also give him a side muggle career as well (always good to have at least 2 future plans in place if one doesn’t work out).  So Harry is allowed to do better in school and doesn’t get in trouble for it.  If Vernon is chosen to be the caring one, could lead to a divorce with petunia getting her ‘Ickle diddydums’ and Vernon getting ‘that nasty boy’.

 

Required:

 

  • Harry decides to attend Stonewall and forsake magic, even rejecting attempts to get him to Hogwarts
  • Snape (orders from Albus) or Aurors (order of Ministry)-one  or the other-retrieve Harry from Stonewall and force him to go to Hogwarts 
  • Harry having good relationship with uncle Vernon and/or Petunia.  At least Vernon where they wrote letters, Snape gets to help Vernon see a Qudditch match
  • Harry fighting being taken from his friends/school.   
  • Harry not forsaking his Muggle career/careeers and future plans just he says he had to come to Hogwarts 
  • Harry does well in school.  Furthermore Harry is good at something besides or in addition to DADA.  
  • Harry must have a backup career but main is being a doctor.  Not a healer or an Auror, a doctor.  Two Muggle career options.   
  • Harry must have at least one hobby.  Art? Fencing? Swimming? Esquatarian?  Dance? Music? Theater?  Martial Arts of some kind? Hunting?   Gardening? Baking?   Show this hobby or hobbies in the story?
  • Harry, if/when he finds out his 'destiny'/the prophecy rejecting it and refusing to fight.  
  • Must include the following lines: "She left to be in that world and was killed for not being pure! What about his education? His muggle education? How is he supposed to function in the world, the real world, if he has no record after his primary schooling?!  You...you wizards take children away from their families and they either flounder if they can't find work in the magical world or they leave their parents, their family behind!  Harry has said no!  Why must you keep hounding us?!  I don't lose my nephew like his mother was lost!"
  • If Vernon is the caring one, Dumbledore objecting due to Vernon not being a blood relative, since Harry 'must be with a blood relative to be safe'.
  • Harry running away from Hogwarts after being taken by force. 
  • Harry willingly going home for holidays/vacations
  • Explore the wizard world inside and outside UK.  

Optional:

 

  • If Vernon is the caring adult, he divorces Petunia and takes custody of Harry with Dudley being in Petunia's custody
  • Harry and Hermione having a rivalry at school 
  • Creature inheritance; if so how does Vernon and/or Petunia deal with this? Preferably different from vampire, elf, werewolf, demon, Angel. If Gargoyle for example, he turns to stone when his gargoyle inheritance activates. If half goblin, he shrinks in size.  If he is a half giant he grows in size/can no longer fly and has trouble sitting at desks, going down narrow stairs, sleeping in a small bed, appetite gets bigger, etc.   Harry must learn about his creature race by meeting them and spending time with them. If he is a dark creature, he must he registered at the ministry. 
  • Slash or Harems are fine. Unusual or rare pairings.  If you want him straight go ahead.  If you want a slash harem go ahead.  
  • Harry isn't interested in quidditch or chooses not to do so in 1st year.  
  • Crossovers
  • James and/or Lily not being his parents. If this is the case no blood/magical or muggle adoption, meaning Harry is not the heir to potter/peverell.  Prophecy doesn't apply to Harry in this case.  
  • Forbidden/Don't want to see:

    • Snape adopting Harry be it blood, magical or muggle adoption
    • Harry being Snape's bio kid
    • Harry being son /descendant of founders/merlin/mordred/morgana/Pendragon and no filthy rich Harry 
    • No lordships/aristrocracy like in fanon
    • Op/super powered Harry 
    • Genderbend Harry 
    • Romantic involvement with Ginny, Luna, Draco, Daphne, Hermione, Susan, Tracey, Pansy, Bellatrix, either Lestrange brother, Blaise, Theodore
    • Sirius and/or Remus getting custody of Harry  
    • No stag animagus or patronus. Remember he had never seen his parents and it's been 10 or so years. He has no attachment to them.

    Summary:

    As it says in the title. Lily was able to protect her parents during the war (or they just weren't dead when she died). So they are available to take Harry on when Lily and James die. Either Dumbledore leaves Harry with them or Petunia gives them Harry after he's left on her doorstep - your choice. The Evans raise him in Cokeworth, having never moved away. Snape is still there during the holidays. Added complexity - if left with Petunia, maybe Dumbledore doesn't know they are alive.

    Summary:

    Time is a dangerous thing to meddle with.  Hermione Granger should have hidden her schedule and time turner more easily because it ends up in Harry’s hands after he decides to investigate how Hermione can take two classes at the same time multiple times a day.   He finds Hermione’s time turner and after some investigation, discovers what it is.     For whatever reason, he decides to take the time turner, leaving Hermione to panic about where it has gotten.   Yet, after getting into a fight with Draco, something happens that throws both boys into the past, breaking the time turner in the fight.   Unable to get back home, Snape eventually learns of this and learning it was Granger’s doing, is sent back by Dumbledore to retrieve Potter and Malfoy.  Snape must chase them down and try to get all three of them back home, protecting and guiding them along the way.    Do they get home or are they lost in time?

     

    Requirements: 

     

    • Takes place in 3rd year before Harry learns of Sirius Black being his godfather and betraying his parents and after Hermione gets her time turner in beginning of the year.
    • Why does Harry steal Hermione’s time turner? 
    • I want to see how being thrown back in time affects Harry, Draco & Snape when they get back.    Traveling in time is said to have consequences and these are never really discussed in any fandom.  
    • No Marauders, Merlin/Camelot or Founders’ time periods.    They can briefly explore these times but I’d like to see them going through  different periods of history throughout the story; like the War of the Roses or Ww1 or the settlement of the colonies, etc.  
    • How does Snape find out about the boys missing and why is he sent back in time to search for them? 
    • Hermione/McGonagall getting in trouble for this incident, not because you have the Savior of the  UK & a pureblood but because Hermione was careless (in the Ministry’s opinion) and McGonagall  for sticking her neck out and not talking Hermione out of taking all electives as well as exploring  why Hermione needs to be the best at everything. Maybe Hermione is expelled from Hogwarts and Minerva is put on leave or probation.   According to the article on wizarding world, Hermione was the only student ever to bring a time turner into Hogwarts.
    • What happens in the present as Draco and Harry are trapped in time? How do they keep going backward with the time turner broken?
    • I’d prefer if they spent at least  a month in real life in each historical period and getting back is not an easy fix.  I want to see them struggle to find a solution. Bonus if their wands break and the boys at least cannot use magic with never having learned wandless magic.   Just two boys with third year max education.  How does Harry struggle with not having his friends to help him and Draco learning possibly that   Muggles can be cruel but learning also that wizards are not anything special like Lucius always likely says.
