I love how Snape is being confronted with a whole different picture of Harry’s life than he has always imagined. Another fantastic chapter, as always.

"he'd been gasping for an image of them... Remus had given him that image, and more. Remus had been there for him, had tutored him, had cared."
This serves to remind me that in canon, Remus made such a huge mistake, staying away from Harry. So sad
I laughed at this, though:
"How could the man look like his robes were billowing when he wasn't wearing any? When, in fact, he was wearing the quaint, slightly old-fashioned suits Remus tended to favour?"
Good chapter i hope Snape realises soon about Harry's home life. Okay, well off tot he next chapter!
Great chapter, very interesting about the black energy; I love the way you're portraying Snape- as you said, the man is all about details. Harry's conversation about clothes was very poignant and I like the little details you included, like Marks and Spenser
You do Snape-as-Remus quite nicely. It'll be interesting to see how Snape handles himself once he sees Harry's real life with the Dursleys.

Using Remus' form was such a good idea to bring Harry and Snape to better terms. As you've mentioned, Harry feels more comfortable opening up, speaking his mind... And then Snape, forced to act as Remus, has to actually listen to what Harry has to say. I think this is a perfect way to get Harry and Snape to know each other. It's brilliant.
There are so many little nuances in this chapter that love. We already see that Snape is beginning to read Harry pretty well when he gives him Remus' letter. We also find out later that Snape drew the correct conclusions from the fact that Harry didn't know where the key was to the house. And then Harry's quiet dignity after they get to Privet Drive and his youthful determination to be more mature and not react childishly...so nicely realized.
