Ya know, I like an intelligent Harry;  it's nice to see that.  It's also fascinating to watch Snape justifying to himself that he is coming to care for Harry - that he wants to care, but needs a reason to do so.  It's an odd way to approach a situation, but then, it's a very Snape way to do it.  Looking forward to the next update.

    Author's Response:

Snape's exceptionally rational - I see him as an Enlightenment sort of guy rather than a Romantic figure, if you know what I mean. He won't venture any strong emotions unless there's a good logical reason for doing so.

I like intelligent Harry too ... the canon Harry that's impulsive and angry just drives me crazy sometimes. I hope I'm not taking it too far but I've at least tried to justify it so that makes everything okay .... right?

:))))))))))))))) again another perfect chappy! And even Harry is starting to make some progress, so nice. I like this Severus' "revenge"! Eventually he will change his mind  and really like the boy Harry is. Please write ASAP!

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad you liked it.

I really liked this chapter, and the story so far of course! It is good to see Severus struggling with his feelings regarding Harry despite the obvious abuse the boy has sauffered instead of just changing it in a flash because this is much more plausible. Great start, I am looking forward to more! Thank you.

Author's Response: I don't think any realistic Snape could just change his mind and his emotions in a flash, do you? I'm enjoying using his viewpoint because I think it gives a bit more scope to the interaction between the two characters ... he's more mature (in some ways at least) and thus has more depth to his character that Harry hasn't had time to develop yet.

Awww our poor little Harry and Draco! I totally love how you have characterised Snape. I dislike the types of stories where Snape discovers abuse, Snape automatically forgives himself for past beliefs and they become the best of friends/lovers, its too OOC. Whereas in your story it is believable and enjoyable to read. I can't wait for the next chapter.

Author's Response: I dislike those stories as well ... one of the reasons why I wanted to write this. Thanks for the review, I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying it.

This chapter was not quite as emotionally painful to read, which was good.  I, at least, needed a bit of a break.  Something about the way you write this Harry is very painful for me to read.  I mean that as a compliment.  The descriptions and Snape's recognition and realizations of what's going with Harry are particularly wrenching.  I do like the way you're very gradually changing Snape, even as he tries to deny it.

I'm curious about what you'll do about the canon of PS/SS.  Will Harry have any of the same experiences as in canon?  Will he be strong enough?  What about Hermione and Ron?  Just wondering if you plan to use much of canon.

    Author's Response:

Yes, some parts of canon will be worked in ... others will be ignored (for what I hope are good reasons). Hermione and Ron will be making bigger appearances later on but Harry's just a bit too unstable to deal well with them now.

Thanks for the review, I appreciate the feedback!

I personally like a redeemed Draco. You can't please everyone. Write what you want to write. Obviously, I'm biased here; but I never would ask someone who wrote Draco as a villian or just an SOB to change their story. To other readers: There are thousands of HP stories out there. If you have specific tastes, it can almost certainly be found. If not, write it yourself. Really, the more stories the better whatever they are.

    Author's Response:

It is a tricky question and there are arguments that go both ways. I decided that Draco was more interesting than any of the other Slytherin boys in that year and that Harry needed a friend ... thus Draco. I'm not certain that he is completely reformed but we all have our lapses, don't we?

Thanks for the review, I'm glad to hear your opinion on the question.

I am SO sick of Draco being the good little nephew.  I wanted to read a story about Snape and Harry, not one about Draco, and he always steals the attention.  Can we please tone him down a bit before this turns into another wannabe "A Year Like No Other" story?  I really liked the way you were going before you started to add Draco into the story.

Author's Response: Don't worry, this is definitely going to focus on Snape and Harry. Draco's just there to provide Harry with the help that Snape can't ... forcefeed him at meal times and such. Yes, he has his own issues to work out and Severus will be trying to help with that, but I'm not really that interested in Draco and his issues.

You have made another major change from the original story line:  Harry might have been sorted into Ravenclaw???  I can't wait to hear that story!  I'm enjoying the story very much and avidly wait for each update.  Severus is going to drive himself crazy with his internal boxing match over Harry.  You didn't mention Harry reacting to Quirrell, so the question is how much you are using from canon.  Is Quirrell helping Voldemort in this universe?  If so, will Harry need Ron and Herm., or will you have an alternate path to the Philosophers Stone plot thread?

    Author's Response:

Yes, the conversation Harry had with the Sorting Hat will make an (eventual) reappearance, although everything seems to be taking 2-3 chapters longer than I want it to take.

There will be some canon worked into the story line and the Philosopher's Stone will definitely play a major role, but I'm also going to discard any bits of canon that I don't want to work in.
